Something that might interest you![edit]

Hey, Rpeh - hope you enjoy your vacation. Even though you've said that you wouldn't take any administrative decisions at the moment, I still think you should take a look on this discussion. We seem to have found out important information about traveling NPCs and maybe even found the reason as to why they all leave at midnight instead of what theyre scheduled to in the CS. Because I know you were puzzled over this as well, I just wanted to point you in the right direction, as we could use a bit of input and maybe even a second opinion. Hope everything is good in the UK Krusty 09:34, 2 June 2009 (EDT)

Journal Entries/Line Templates[edit]

Hey, I was recently taking a look at the two Journal Entry templates you started. I was trying to help out, I am wonder if this could be a possible runaround:

Instead of: |- |||||
You would place: |- |||||

...for Finishes Quest. However, when I tried to do this (via #preview), the image wouldn't show up. I know I am just learning templates, but I seem to be close at this. Thanks! --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 07:55, 7 June 2009 (EDT)

It's not that simple, alas. Several Morrowind quests have a "restarts" icon instead of a tick, plus there's the "Quest Comment" template that a lot of journal entries use. –RpehTCE 08:02, 7 June 2009 (EDT)
Indeed, but I do not want to commit suicide by swallowing it whole. This was an initial baby step in learning it. I tried to incorporate a template within a template, but I have absolutely no idea how that is done. the {{#ifeq: on the other hand, I comprehend. So... is it close? --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 08:06, 7 June 2009 (EDT)
Well... it's syntactically right, yes. –RpehTCE 08:19, 7 June 2009 (EDT)

Userboxes[edit]

Yes, I know this is not Facebook. However, if one is to debate the legitimacy, need, or purpose of the userboxes you proposed for deletion, then he must also look at the current state of other boxes. If these cannot be kept, then why can this, this, this, and this be kept? It seems entirely subjective. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 04:47, 14 June 2009 (EDT)

It's too late for those, but I'd really rather not have any more. If you really disagree, remove the prod tags and we'll take it to a deletion review instead. –RpehTCE 05:01, 14 June 2009 (EDT)
Don't forget, you can always just drop the userbox code directly onto your page, Mr. Oblivion, it doesn't have to be a template. Or you can drop them into a subpage of your page and then transclude them from there. (The benefit being that it doesn't clutter up the userboxes we already have with ones that few people will probably use.) I think a number of userboxes could have been done without, but as Rpeh said, it's too late...they're now in wide circulation. And once that's happened, no matter how silly they are, it's probably more hassle to remove them than it's worth. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 05:11, 14 June 2009 (EDT)
That is perfectly fine (not adding more). However, a notice should be placed somewhere so that other editors know that the site doesn't really want more userboxes. I am also fine with just adding them to my own page, transclusions and whatnot. Go ahead and delete them :) --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 05:19, 14 June 2009 (EDT)
(Edit Conflict) Actually, I take some of that back. I've prodded two of those due to having only one or two users using them. One of the others only had about four or five users using it, and could probably also go, but you then have the question of where to draw the line. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 05:21, 14 June 2009 (EDT)

Hiya![edit]

Good to see you back! I don't know who I managed to miss it but it looks like I have. It was an immense pleasure to see all those userboxes back on your page! Small comment: you've still got the Birthday userbox! ;) Also, if you have time, would you mind extracting the overlays for Polle Gold Mine and Vassa? Cheers. --SerCenKing Talk 15:19, 23 June 2009 (EDT)

Oops - thanks for pointing that out. Can't help with the overlays though - I did them by hand. –RpehTCE 00:28, 24 June 2009 (EDT)
Really? Did you simply use paint/photoshop or whatnot? That would make my task immensely easier, rather than harassing poor Nephele! XD --SerCenKing Talk 19:38, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Yup. My Weapon of Choice is PaintShop Pro, which has all the layering tools you need and is much cheaper. I don't think anybody will claim that it's as good as Photoshop, but pound for pound, it's still pretty good. Get the basic map on one layer then add dots and text on other layers. It's not too hard, but I wouldn't have wanted to do by hand the hundreds that Nephele put together by bot. –RpehTCE 19:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Safari Question[edit]

Am I correct in remembering that you have Safari installed on a computer? If so, would it be possible for you to check and see what the site looks like post-upgrade in Safari? In particular, on my iPhone's Safari browser I'm getting a problem where the parchment-type background image is no longer appearing; instead those sections of the page are all white (except around the logo, of course, since that bit of background is really part of the logo). Unfortunately, I can't easily do any checks on my iPhone to figure out why the problem is happening (at least not without searching out some new gadgets). So any chance you can take a quick peek and let me know whether it's a general problem? Thanks! --NepheleTalk 05:18, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm seeing the same thing you're describing in Safari on my PC. --GKTalk2me 05:32, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Nephele, it is appearing white where the background is. Also, as I was quickly clicking through a bunch of links, the orange site notice (and sometimes the yellow one) appeared, and the headers were the left-aligned bolded type. I don't know if this means anything, but it obviously isn't normal. --Mr. Oblivion(T-C) 05:33, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks!
The site notices and strangely formatted headers are because you weren't logged into the site (which in turn is an issue with caching); they have nothing to do with Safari. You'll see the same thing in your regular browser if you log out.
As for the Safari problem, it would be useful to have some idea why the background is white, but I don't think I can easily summarize what types of rooting around are necessary to figure that out ;) I'll look into whether I can get some tools to do it myself -- now that I know that there really is a problem to diagnose. --NepheleTalk 06:16, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
You posted just after I left for work, so sorry for the delay. I don't have Safari, but it seems the others have already helped out on that score. The pages appear fine on FF, IE, Chrome and Opera though. I'll see if I can download Safari and take a look, but that may have to wait until I'm home again (can you believe these people want me to work for my money???)
One nasty I got twice was a white screen error message when visiting Shivering Isles. Once in IE, once in Opera - logged out both times. I've emailed you that rather than fill up my talk page with nonsense (no sarcastic comments please). –RpehTCE 06:39, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
I just got an Internal Error from the site while using IE. Nothing more helpful than that, except it suggested "Set $wgShowExceptionDetails = true; at the bottom of LocalSettings.php to show detailed debugging information." That was from the Oblivion quests page (Retrieved from "http://content1.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Quests"). –RpehTCE 06:46, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
That sounds like it's just an out-of-date cache page. See the discussion here -- in particular, the screenshot. All of the pages on the squid server need to be refreshed, but I haven't been able to dig up an easy way to make that happen yet. --NepheleTalk 06:53, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
And the Safari problem is fixed! Thanks, all. I was able to guess at the CSS problem given that the relevant line works in default Wikipedia, so there weren't too many possible reasons for it to work differently on UESP. --NepheleTalk 07:01, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Ah. I'd just downloaded it too :) Well done, Nephele. –RpehTCE 07:02, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Septim Family Crest Question[edit]

I followed a of this photo SeptimFamilyCrest.jpg and it lead me to your profile, the link said you originally posted the Septim Family Crest picture on the "Septim Dynasty" page and I was hoping if you knew what the Daedric writing on the banner at the bottom of crest says, it is too small to be legible when viewing the file. — Unsigned comment by 70.79.173.232 (talk) on 28 June 2009

I only posted a transparent version, not the original, which came from a user who is no longer active. I'm afraid I have no idea what it says. –RpehTCE 08:14, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
