rpeh about the extra warning[edit]

i wasnt warning him. i was just putting him wise (if you know what i mean)but i asure you this is not what i inttened to do. but yes reading it back, i do understand your point.thankyou HMS WARSPITE 17:18, 31 March 2008 (EDT)

tomorro i will take a lesson from volanro about the diff page or something like that lol(the thing that helps you tell what they edited)HMS WARSPITE 17:22, 31 March 2008 (EDT)

That's okay. I can see you want to help and it's good you're going to learn from Volanaro but you should also look at what the admins and patrollers do. When I started I tried to learn from people like Nephele, Lurlock and Wrye just by looking at what they had done. Volanaro has already tried to do that and you should try to follow his example. –RpehTCE 17:39, 31 March 2008 (EDT)

ok i am talking to him about things now. HMS WARSPITE 04:30, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

Archive[edit]

Hi RPEH, How do i get a Archive.? I have asked volanaro how to get one of these but he said that he can not be bothered to help me get one. Benny220 05:02, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

yeah he said that he is a mentor but he cant be bovered to help because he said we have no knowlage of oblivion. evan so if he is a mentor he should help. shouldn't he? HMS WARSPITE 05:07, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
Mentors are volunteers like everybody else. If he doesn't want to help certain people, that is entirely his prerogative. –RpehTCE 06:11, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
I'm starting to think I should stay away from the wiki for a while, probably a few weeks, maybe a month to give things ime to calm down, just considering it at the moment. --Volanaro 06:30, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
You getting away from the wiki for a while. You gotta be haveing a laugh. You cant even leave it for 5 minutes. Let alone a monthBenny220 06:33, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
I'd be sorry to see you go, even for a month. On the other hand, I can see your reasoning... –RpehTCE 06:37, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
Ok, I'll give it a week and then come back, if things don't settle down then i might go again. Looking at the insult to me on this page, i might be able to prove him wrong! --Volanaro 06:39, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
what eva. You will probly go on it during the holidays. But i will be checking up on you volanaro. Benny220 06:41, 1 April 2008 (EDT)
no offence volanaro but our I.T. teacher said you have just thrown away 4 GCSEs to this web site. you should calm down on this site a bit. HMS WARSPITE 06:46, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks, Rpeh[edit]

Tried to put this on your April page but it's not up yet. Anyway, thanks for cleaning up my "debut" major edit (aka virtual rewrite) on the Cann article- can't believe after 5 hours of typing and proofing I still left two typos. Good eye.

Also, I debated whether to put the official quest name or the "common-usage" name in the label of the new int. link I created to replace the plain text that was there, and decided to use the common name because it's so much shorter (Suicide Hill Quest). In the future I'll be guided by your edit/example and use the official name no matter how "clunky" it seems. I think your fixing the "rare clothing" links is great- I noticed how bad they looked and would have fixed them but didn't know exactly how and was afraid I'd mess them up even more than they were. Thanks again- --HoggyDog 15:20, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

Thank you for your edits! Everybody makes typos and they're easy to miss. Sometimes you need a fresh eye to see them. As far as the link is concerned, we usually use the full name so that things are consistent; the redirects are there mainly so the search picks them up. Anyway, keep up the good work! Oh - and always make posts on a user's main talk page; the archive is there for when I want to clean things up. –RpehTCE 15:34, 1 April 2008 (EDT)

Lore:Black Marsh[edit]

I was looking over the featured article nominations and saw that you were going to work on the Black Marsh page. I checked said page and you haven't touched it in over a month. Should I remove you WIP tag for you, or have you just gotten sided tracked and will now get back to the article? --Enterprise2001 12:24, 3 April 2008 (EDT)

Yeah I haven't done anything on it for a while but you can see what I've done so far. I've got a bit stuck with the way the article changes from in-game to real world perspective. It needs a bigger rewrite than I originally thought. I'll get back around to it though - or if you want to take what I've changed so far, feel free! –RpehTCE 12:31, 3 April 2008 (EDT)
No, no, no... that's quite all right, I am in the middle of a project of my own already. Thanks. :-) Having only ever played Oblivion, I'm not really familiar with Elder Scroll lore in general anyway, so I'll probably stick with the Oblivion name space. That's not really a problem, there are plenty of pages in need of my heavy-handed copy-editing. :-)
Without actually reading much of the article, I can give you a general tip on copy-editing a difficult article: If an article is in such disarray that you aren't sure how to fix it, it may be necessary to read said article and write the pertinent information in your own words to another place (paper, wiki sandbox, word processor, whatever you prefer). Now, ignore it all for a day or two, and when you come back to it, only look at the notes you wrote yourself, and begin writing the article from scratch with them. After that you will have to walk away for a while again before coming back to edit it. (Or post it here and tell everyone to have at it. :-) ) It's a long process, but you will end up with an article containing (mostly) unified tone and point-of-view.
I, personally, don't usually have to do that, but that comes from experience and practice. (Just not here...) I did have to work out the new organization of previously stated project on paper though.
Good luck with your editing. This wiki, and the world for that matter, needs better writers and editors. --Enterprise2001 13:03, 3 April 2008 (EDT)

Image Categorization[edit]

  • I've noticed that there are, as of this writing, sixty-nine uncategorized images. Since I'm brand spanking new to this wiki, I was wondering if there would be any objections to an attempt on my behalf to remedy this? (PS: I use asterisks in talk pages because they, in my humble opinion, improve readability. If this is a problem, I can stop.) --  Adorlin  ►  01:05, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
    • Asterisks aren't a problem... I'll probably stick to colons in general though. I went through the uncategorized images the other day and fixed a lot of them. If you want to add categories to what's left then that's fine, but I don't think it's possible to be sure about most of them. If you want to add the Nolicense template to the rest, I'd be fine with that. If you can be sure about the status of the others then feel free to put the correct Image Copyright Template on instead. Thanks for taking the time on this! –RpehTCE 01:13, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
      • I wasn't referring to copyright categories in particular. More along the lines of grouping like images together (ie: User Images). Also, I prefer asterisks to colons because some people are fond of leaving random breaking spaces in their comments, while others are fond of responding to a specific message (Not indenting their comment so the comment they're replying to lines up with theirs), which makes it nearly impossible in some cases to separate comments without straining your eyes to look for signatures. --  Adorlin  ►  01:25, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
        • Hmm. None of our other images use categories apart from copyright so I wouldn't bother with those ones. –RpehTCE 01:37, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
          • I suppose it would be a bit of an undertaking, considering the size of the wiki... I keep forgetting that not everybody has a wiki with less than 500 articles. Hmm. I'll find a way to contribute eventually. --  Adorlin  ►  03:58, 4 April 2008 (EDT)
            • Categorising images is something that has been discussed on and off and might happen some day. It's likely to be something we set one of our bots on for most of the images though. If you're looking for things to do, there's a good list here. I just realised I haven't given you our welcome message yet, which contains a few other links that you might find useful. I'll do that now. –RpehTCE 04:35, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

Woah![edit]

This is just to give you a huge thanks for those new images - they are fantastic! Good lighting, excellent graphics, high detail levels and almost artistic camera angles! If only all the other images were like that. Oh, and I agree completely with what was said about certain NPC images being too thin; they take up unnecessary space on the page, and their quality is usually terrible. Your new Vedam Dren and Divayth Fyr images really caught my eye. Well done!

Oh, and by the way, I'm quite annnoyed with HMS WARSPITE. Firstly, he used my name for his own ends without asking, and constantly uses All Caps and Chatspeak across the site, as well as using his Talk page like a chat room. I don't want to sound selfish, but should we keep an eye on him? His edits are also of poor quality, and are few in number outside his User area. --HMSVictory 13:58, 6 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks. Yes, they've been annoying me for a while now. Of course, with the Oblivion ones a lot of it was my fault... It seemed like a good idea at the time. As far as the other matter is concerned, we're already on the case. –RpehTCE 00:45, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
Good to hear read it. This is completely unrelated, but I have noticed that on the Restoration effect page for Morrowind, Remove Curse is not mentioned, even though it is included in the manual. Likely, it does not exist in-game, yet the Corprus effects that were excluded are still listed. In the Morrowind manual, Remove Curse is given the following definition: Removes a curse from the target. Should we look into this, or should we just say that it was an oversight on the developers' part? --HMSVictory 05:00, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
I can't check from here but my guess is that it's not even mentioned in the construction set and that's why it's not on the page. If it's mentioned in the manual then there probably ought to be a page like Oblivion:Damage Skill, just for completeness' sake and to avoid any confusion. –RpehTCE 05:15, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
Alright, I'll see what I can do. Another completely unrelated question: You know site notices? The parameter for setting backround colour on them is "|bgcolor=#". What is the parameter for text colour? I've tried replacing "bg" with "txt," "text," and "info," but none of those work. What should I enter? --HMSVictory 06:52, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
You can't. There are four parameters: border (the color of the border), bgcolor (color of the background), align (changes the alignment of the text) and image (This adds an image to the left of the text). I suppose nobody got around to adding a foreground param. –RpehTCE 06:55, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
Oh well, can't be helped. On a more serious tone, I think the Benny220/HMS WARSPITE situation is getting out of hand. I don't think we can really sit here and let them drive editors like Volanaro from the site. Neither of them seem to be doing anything constructive, and many of their claims (especially that 4 GSCEs comment) are very suspicious. They don't seem to have got the hang of what a communtiy-driven Wiki is all about. --HMSVictory 07:04, 7 April 2008 (EDT)

Do you remeber wich Priest to speak to in....[edit]

Pilgrimage to Maar Gan?

Hi Rpeh, back from camping and now working through the remaining quests. I was wondering which Maar Gan Shrine NPC gives the Sanctuary blessing for the fight with Anhaedra. Do you know? Cheers, --BenouldTC 15:09, 7 April 2008 (EDT)

Afraid not. I haven't got that far in the Temple quests... :| –RpehTCE 15:11, 7 April 2008 (EDT)

Mentor[edit]

Hi can anyone become a mentor, and if anyone could, what is needed or what do the user need to do to become a mentor?--Goblin lair 10:15 8 april 2008 (EDT)

No. There is a list of requirements over here. –RpehTCE 04:42, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Ok, well I will have to make some progress and I come back with this subject later.--Goblin lair 10:20, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

I'm Back[edit]

Hi, Just to let you know, I'm oficcially back on the wiki now, hopefully things will have calmed down now! By the way I notice you deleted a misspelled redirect i made, sorry about that, it was meant to go here, I knew typos would cause me trouble one day! Volanaro 07:09, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Welcome back! Let's hope your entourage doesn't appear too... –RpehTCE 07:55, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
I hope so! It was quite frustrating seeing him messing a couple of things up while i was away and a few vandals as well, but I'd promised my mum i wouldn't so much as log in, let alone make any edits over the last week, god it was painful! Volanaro 12:01, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
By the way, I don't know if i've already asked you this but i've been meaning to, remember that little slip-up i had with that userbox page in my sandbox? Well since then its just become a place where i create new userboxes, recently I finished one for bots, I was wondering if you might want to put it on RoBoT's page? Just seems a shame to waste it. Volanaro 12:20, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
Thanks! I'd forgotten about that. Now added. –RpehTCE 12:38, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
Nice to see it there, I was a bit cautious about asking you, worried about getting on peoples nerves asking the same question over again! :) --Volanaro 14:44, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

Hmm, I guess I should have asked someone before going ahaead with thos redirects, I'll be more careful next time, sorry Volanaro 12:01, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Don't worry about it. The problem is that redirecting to the Tamriel articles may not be the desired behaviour. I might want the Oblivion article on Cyrodiil, for instance, or the Arena article on Elsweyr (if one exists!) Having the search display the possible options is the desired outcome. –RpehTCE 12:10, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
OK, I can breath out now, I just feel really stupid after something like this, btw, I think something needs to be done about you know who still treating the site like a forum --Volanaro 12:22, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Book Name/Author formatting[edit]

Hello again,

As we were just talking about information being outdated, I thought I'd mention this. In the Book Layout Guide it states that all author and description pages should be categorized into Category:Tamriel Library Authors. Using
<noinclude></noinclude>
and
<noinclude></noinclude>
After browsing through Category:Tamriel-Books-Authors, I noticed that none of the books were categorized in this way, and began to wonder if this too was outdated. If not, I'd be happy to add it to all author and description pages. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 11:05, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Good catch. That's out of date now too. I think there have been several reorgs of the books and it looks like some stuff has got left lying around. As you've probably seen, the categories we use are Category:Tamriel-Books-Authors and Category:Tamriel-Books-Descriptions. –RpehTCE 12:00, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Server Time[edit]

Server time has always been correct for me, until now. For some reason, when I visited the site today, Server Time seems to be an hour behind my local time. I've corrected this on my preferences page, but it just seems odd that server time would jump back one hour. The Daylight Saving time change happened a while ago, so I doubt that's the cause. What is going on? --HMSVictory 13:47, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

  • British Summer Time. The US recently changed their DST dates, but the rest of the world stayed the same. As a result, this little oddity will happen twice a year :D --  Adorlin  ►  17:08, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
Odd... I had that when we switched to BST but when I changed the time offset in my prefs to 01:00 it was correct again. If you're getting the wrong time you could always change it to 02:00 or whatever value fixes it for you. –RpehTCE 03:37, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
OK, now it's showing 14:54 as 9:54. What is happening to server time now? --HMSVictory
The server time is staying constant (judging by the way the time it shows me has been, and remains, correct) so it must be something up with your browser. Have you changed your Regional Settings in Windows recently? –RpehTCE 10:11, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
No. In fact, I don't think I have ever changed them, except when I bought the PC, which was about a year ago. --HMSVictory 10:19, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
The current server time is set to EDT (Eastern Daylight Time I assume) and appears to be correct. -- Daveh 11:07, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
Hmm. Something must be up with my PC then. The times I'm seeing on the site are all over the place. --HMSVictory 11:12, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

Templates![edit]

  • Do you think this is a waste of time and effort, or is there a possible use for it? --  Adorlin  ►  17:04, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
    • Personally I think this is the sort of thing we want to be doing while the site is (theoretically) lacking in activity. But please, before starting anything like this, discuss is on the Community Portal. The opinion of one admin is as naught compared to the opinion of the community! –RpehTCE 17:37, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

My, you've been busy![edit]

I love the new, square NPC images you are uploading. So much better, who cares what shoes they are wearing :p-- BTW, can you take a look at the headers I am giving the vampire quests? Specially the last few I did, Vampire Cure and Hunter, am I getting to flippish in tone or is it still fun? Maybe I need to step away for a few hours from editing... Cheers,--BenouldTC 17:57, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Mmm. They're a bit slip, yes. I'm probably going to tone them down a bit later. Thanks for the comments on the images though! –RpehTCE 03:45, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

Welcome Template[edit]

I fixed my welcome template and made it more serious. An example can be found below:

User:Michaeldsuarez/Welcome --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 19:14, 8 April 2008 (EDT)

Aside from making my responses on my own talk page completely irrelevant, there are a few other minor issues:
  • The UESP logo covers the top-right corner of the table. Not sure if that is a Firefox only thing or what, but you might want to look into it...
  • Changing "In order to help you, a table of useful and important links has been provided:" to "Here is a table of useful and important links to help you get started:" would be better. :-) (I'm in copy-editing mode, can you tell? LOL)
Other than that, looks ok. --Enterprise2001 01:22, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
Update: I have discovered the cause of said image-over-table formatting issue. It's kind of technical, but
In order to help you, a table of useful and important links has been provided:
NewLine <------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adding this will fix it.
{| width="100%" class="wikitable"
I'd just do it myself, but I know editing other's user pages is generally a no-no. --Enterprise2001 01:39, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
Ummm... no. That's actually worse than before. Please can you just use the standard welcome message from here? First, using a template means that the contents change when the template changes, leading to confusion (as Enterprise has already pointed out) and it also looks even more like an automated welcome than our actual automated welcome! All we're looking to do is give a cheery "Hello!" and point out a couple of links, and the current welcome message does that just fine. If you want to add a couple of lines to each welcome you make then feel free, but I think these large templates are going way too far. –RpehTCE 03:47, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
I'm loud and different, and I can't conduct brain surgery on myself and fix that. I find the normal template too boring. Like many other people, I seek attention. I don't want to give the same welcome everyone else gives. I want to be creative and think outside the box. I'm a rebel and possible a maverick. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 19:02, 9 April 2008 (EDT)
That's as maybe but that welcome is too much. Drawing attention to yourself is not the purpose of welcoming users. I'm going to remove it from the affected users and replace your welcome with a more restrained one. –RpehTCE 05:47, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
--Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 19:27, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
And I'm sorry to say this but I honestly don't care what other wikis do. The first WP link is what I was welcomed with when I joined that site and it's not bad but I prefer to see the links worked into the text rather than being presented as a list. As far as the two Star Wars ones are concerned… they look like something out of a children's catalogue. I've had two other editors complain to me about your template so I know I'm not alone in feeling that it's unsuitable. At the moment I'm just asking you to stop. I'd rather not have to go through the hassle of putting it to a community vote but I will do so if necessary. –RpehTCE 03:24, 11 April 2008 (EDT)
As much as I would like to continue this debate on my right to express myself to other users openly and with a big smile, I can't help but notice a lack of community spirit on this wiki. As seen in Featured Articles, few users here actually vote. I'm afraid that the decision then would be made by elite users and administrators rather than the recent users and newcomers it'll affect the most. I've evaluated the various opinions available to me, and I've revolved that a vote made by a few but affects everyone should be avoided. As a result, I've reduced my welcome template, although concieved as a devise to get users started and to let them know that users such as you and me care, to only a paragraph. Sorry. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 00:15, 12 April 2008 (EDT)
Okay, that's fine now. I'd still prefer that you use the standard template but at least this one doesn't take up half the screen. –RpehTCE 04:22, 12 April 2008 (EDT)

Featured Articles Page[edit]

With that session of fast and furious edits back and forth (One of your edits was a minute after mine, most impressive...), we seem to have UESPWiki:Featured_Articles up to snuff. Now, any clue how to get some people there reading it and voting? (It seems kind of sad that the same article has been featured for six months... ) --Enterprise2001 18:16, 9 April 2008 (EDT)

I know they have the current featured article part on the main page, but how about at the bottom of that, "You can vote for our next featured artice! Just cast your vote on the page here." Or something of the like. So people know they can vote. Just a suggestion.--Puddle 17:42, 27 April 2008 (EDT)

I think you work really hard on UESP[edit]

I just noticed that you, despite being an Admin, have violated the three revert rule in editing this talk page. I know that's not a rule here, but that's one more thing that makes this wiki (while still very good) not as effective as other wikis. There are better ways to resolve disputes such as this. I want to reassure you that they have not yet been exhausted. You, as an Admin, should be more concerned with setting a good example for others than me, as an outsider.

Further, Nephele is perfectly capable of looking out for herself and does not need a guard dog. Your attempt to shield her from exposure to criticism, even snide and unprovoked criticism, may be disrespectful to her.

On another matter, your assumptions here deviate markedly from "assume good faith" guidelines but more importantly from simple common sense. I quote, "Unfortunately he doesn't realise that his IP is stored when editing as a named user and that both it and this one resolve to addresses in the same country and that the country in question is uncommon enough on this site to point a clear finger."
Why do you have such a low opinion of my intelligence? That hurts my feelings. Why would I edit both my own posts, at the same time, copying the exact same wording you used, if I wasn't intending to draw a parallel and assuming everyone would know who it was editing? Occam's Razor supports that I was just too lazy to log in again for a petty spat like this.
I may have a Personality low enough to satisfy Namira, but you should look towards your Intelligence, or practice your Critical Reasoning skill. I have seen people with such a staff lodged in their colon I wonder how they can sit down. Hypocrisy is another of those things that riles my bile, which is why I made such a fuss about what might have seemed like an innocent knee-jerk defense on your part. Perhaps I should have been less subtle.

Let me spell it out then: I have a problem with abuse of the "undo" feature and its effectiveness in hiding contentious changes. If the incomplete change under Oblivion:Willpower had been undone, I might never have worked out and posted my improvement on it. If you had undone the entirety of my critique for its useless parts (which to your credit you did not) nobody could have benefited from the useful parts of it. Natural-selection-driven evolution takes millions of years under that kind of system. We who are able to build on each other's work should be able to run a much more effective system. The "undo" feature, when used with excess zeal in patrolling, only impedes such progress. In a constantly changing and improving collaborative information base, inaccurate information is not worse than no information. Where would we be if people such as Orville & Wilbur Wright dedicated themselves entirely to bicycles after their first crash?

Now what's this? "Further attempts to cloud his identity will be treated as sockpuppetry and dealt with accordingly." Paranoid much? We should have established that I have no desire to cloud my identity. If this is some sort of a threat, I don't get it, and if it's a warning then it needs to be stated clearly. You are as always welcome to warn me on my talk page if I have done something to warrant it... If you wish to, please do so in a new subsection there, as I still owe Nephele a seriously considered and respectful reply to her exhaustively detailed essay. I don't play well with others, and I'm being disruptive, but I'm doing it for [what I see as] the good of all.

Thank you, --Nocturnal 04:40, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

I'm sorry, but if you fail to grasp what a community-driven wiki involves, and if you cannot keep your reserve when sense and rational thinking are applied in judging the quality of your edits, then I suggest you consider that your views may drastically differ to ours. This wiki does not need a Three-Revert-Rule simply because the vast majority of our editors are competent enough to realise when this rule is pointless, or when it should be used. Wikipedia only has this rule because there are so many users that they cannot all be kept under another's management. --HMSVictory 04:51, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
I didn't break the TRR anyway as I made precisely three reverts, not "more than three" as the rule states. I stated my reasons for reverting in my edit summary but I'll expand here. I don't care whether or not Nephele can look out for herself. Your comments, in what was otherwise a helpful and well-written article, were completely unnecessary. I would remove such comments no matter which user was referenced; an admin is no different in this regard. And good faith? When I see reversions and deletions to contentious topics being made by an anonymous IP that is clearly the same user that was just editing under a named account, why should I assume good faith? I'm not going to bother responding to the rest except to say that if you don't like the way we do things, feel free to go to another wiki. So far your constant griping has caused nothing but exhaustion and consternation and I'm fed up with it. –RpehTCE 05:03, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Thank you for correcting me with regards to the three-revert rule.
Review the edit logs to see that I linked between those entries (or at least tried to in my summary) intentionally to show that I was the same person talking about the same thing. "So far your constant griping has caused nothing but exhaustion and consternation and I'm fed up with it." I will stop trying new methods of demonstration when I feel that my concerns have been understood (understood is not the same as accepted), or when I get fed up with it. If you feel in good faith that I am ultimately harmful to you personally or to the wiki in general, you are welcome also to ignore my remarks (in the former case) or block me from editing (in the latter).
In the instance related here I was interested in showing the hypocrisy inherent in that you can remove my remarks that are offensive to a poster, but I cannot remove my remarks that are offensive to the same poster. --Nocturnal
There's a clear difference between the two cases. I removed your remarks because they weren't relevant to your post. The remarks you removed were the entire point of the post, and were also part of a historical discussion rather than an active one. It's not hypocritical at all. –RpehTCE 06:51, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
I see that as a fair enough distinction, all right. I apologize for causing you stress with my attempt to bring attention to the old matter. Perhaps that was not the place for it. I hoped that my deliberately provocative demonstration would be understood by the person to whom it was intended. I will try to find a less offensive way. --Nocturnal 07:07, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
My opinion may hold little authority, but Rpeh has summed up what I only began to talk about. You have mis-interpreted and exaggerated everything, making it seem as if our Admins have some sort of grudge against you. Your accusations are both ridiculous and wholesomely unfounded. Why do you edit anonymously when logging in is clearly available to you? The only reason I can think of for doing this is a poor attempt to hide your identity. Will you not listen to reason? Name anything that Rpeh has done recently that you object to, and I will be able to justify it. The Admins are here to improve the site. Your assumptions imply that the higher echelons of this site are inherently corrupt and are doing everything in their power to hinder the progress of new editors throughout. There is no reason to Assume Good Faith when it is clear that the edits in question were made with deliberate intent to harm the Wiki. You have achieved nothing by sparking off this pointless arguement. --HMSVictory 05:15, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
"I suggest you consider that your views may drastically differ to ours." This is evident, and I will take it into consideration. It is possible that both views have some merit and are not mutually exclusive.
"Will you not listen to reason? Name anything that Rpeh has done recently that you object to, and I will be able to justify it." That is not reason. It is pointless to discuss anything with anyone who is completely certain that their opinions cannot be refuted. If one cannot imagine what it would take to convince him that he is mistaken, then no productive discourse is possible.
"Why do you edit anonymously when logging in is clearly available to you? The only reason I can think of for doing this is a poor attempt to hide your identity." I have given a reason above already, pay attention. One's inability to think of things does not make them impossible.
My assumptions are that the Admins are doing the best they can to improve the site in the best way they know, but are too certain that their way is either the best or the only possible way.
"You have achieved nothing by sparking off this pointless arguement [sic]" Sadly, that is probably true. --Nocturnal
If you cannot see the logic in Rpeh's actions, then you must be truely blind. Maybe you should consider what you would do in Reph's stead. Personally, I would take the exact same course of action, as it was both just and fair. Look around you, Nocturnal. Incidents like these happen all the time on this Wiki, yet only you have been so ignorant as to repetitively complain and accuse as a result. Rpeh has been mistaken in the past, and he is aware of this. But yet you blame him for arrogance and sheer stubbornness. Reph is a rational thinker. He listens to reason, unlike you. Why do you think he was raised to Admin status without any opposition? Why do you think he is one of the most praised and active editors on the site? Why do you think he has wasted so much of his valuable time attempting to explain the morals of his decisions in vain? This is how this site is run. No one else is bothered by it, so why should you be? --HMSVictory 07:07, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

(outdent) Guys, chill. There's no use in letting a small disagreement spiral off into a debate about abstract ideals and judgments of character. The internet is hardly the place to make these kinds of accusations, since it's nearly always impossible to understand the true intent behind what another person is saying.

Nocturnal, I know this issue has been addressed by the others involved here, but I wanted to make it clear that your comments about Nephele were removed because such comments come into conflict with our site's policy. We request that all editors avoid comments that could be misconstrued as personal attacks in order to maintain a friendly, productive community. We do typically prefer to leave comments on talk pages and discourage editing other users' comments, but certain types of remarks about other users are not tolerated (since they can be seen as personal attacks) and are usually removed.

Constructive criticism is a good thing, even though we don't always want to hear it, and it should be taken into consideration. I'm glad that you have an interest in improving the site and have taken the time to think about and question the way things work here. We all need to remember that being a regular editor can be a frustrating business, so it's important that we all be considerate of one another and don't lose our tempers.

If there are any other issues that need to be cleared up in this discussion, let's take care of them now, calmly, so we can move on. –Eshetalk 15:08, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Template:Link[edit]

Hello Rpeh,

You may have noticed my recently creating Template:Link, a shortcut template. It works, mostly, the one problem is that when used in a table these two things happen:

Clothing
Common Robe 2
Silver Arrow -100

As you can see, the negative value is moved into the cell with the link, and both cells are stretched. Could you find the time to look at the coding, and see what can be done to prevent this? I've checked the problem myself, and the only solution I found was creating another template for links in tables, which would really ruin the entire idea of the shortcut template. Thanks. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:05, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Hmm well first off is that we already have templates like AR, MW and so on for this. Every so often RoBoT goes through and expands them into the full links for the sake of efficiency but we leave them there so users can take advantage of the speed of use.
As for the problem, I've now pretty much fixed it. The trouble is the way the wiki handles spaces in templates - putting all the if statements on one line fixes the problem. As far as the width of the cells is concerned, that's down to the relative width of the text inside. You could fix that by adding width tags to each column too, or removing the width on the table. They're tricky beasts, templates! –RpehTCE 12:17, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
As always, thanks! The widths aren't a problem though. I defined width:40% myself (It was width:100%, because I took it from a merchants wares page). - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:20, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

Hello again,

I have another (hopefully quick) question regarding templates. When a template runs through the if statements, does it stop after it's completed a statement or carry on down? The reason I'm asking, is because I wanted to change Template:Link, so that if a namespace isn't defined, then the link will simply lead to the same namespace as is linked from.

My other idea was to say "if {}≠MW then..." and so on with all the other namespaces. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 13:54, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

P.S. I hope I wasn't too unclear in setting that question out.

No, but there's an Else section that would work. You could have {{#if:{}|OB|Oblivion stuff|{{#if:{}|MW|Morrowind stuff...., etc. But better yet there's the switch function. Your best bet is to look here for a full list of parser functions. BTW - I'm going to be expanding these at some point too. –RpehTCE 14:06, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
I'm starting to feel I'm pestering you, but I think this is a yes/no question: Are the parameters in a template case-sensitive? (I'm trying to avoid having a really massive code with all case-combos) - Game LordTalk|Contribs 14:19, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Yes they are. That's why things like the NPC Summary accepts "image" and "Image" but not "IMAGE". –RpehTCE 14:24, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
..... I am not gonna enjoy writing all those out, I'll do the first letters, and the initials for all cases, but forget the rest. Whenever someone's got nothing to do they can simply add some more. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 14:30, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Why... why are you doing it anyway? The AR, MW, OB etc templates already work well. Would you ever have a link to a page when you didn't know the namespace? I'm just not seeing the purpose here. –RpehTCE 14:32, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Not sure whether you're asking "Why the template" or "Why the cases", so I'll answer both.
The template is so that if you wish to link to a page with a long name, you don't have to type Thispagehasalongname but mw I know that you don't save a lot of time this way, but it also provides newer users an easier method of linking pages; finally when adding lots of links to a page, all you're basically doing is turning Iron Longsword to Iron Longsword. For a large page (and I speak from personal experience of adding links to the Morrowind:Merchant pages) this can get very boring. And although this template doesn't save much in the short run, it'll save a lot in the long run. Also it's simpler to have the AR, MW, OB etc templates all in one (I think).
As for the cases, well, it simplifies it for quickly typing the template.
I hope that's answered your question, oh, and one final thing, as for all the work typing the thing out, I'd be happy to do it. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 14:42, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
One more thing is that I'm also putting other NAMESPACES (User, UESPWiki, Special) and all the talks into it. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 14:46, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

(outdent) Okay... but, and I realise you're going to hit me now, you realise you don't have to spell it out like that? If you have the text Thispagehasalongname already on the page, you just have to put double square brackets around it (Thispagehasalongname. They will be expanded to [[Thispagehasalongname when you save. Also, text works too. That's all thanks to a neat piece of code from Nephele, I believe. See? You want to hit me now, right? :) –RpehTCE 14:48, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

I might not have done if you hadn't put that smiley at the end..... Anyway, I'm going to carry on with the template now partly out of sheer bloody-mindedness, but partly because it allows you to make inter-namespace links, and probably some more things I'll think of while writing it. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 14:53, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
P.S. I'm a pacifist :)
Now this is a bit ironic. It works, but we seem to have got back to our original problem. I already tried putting them on one line, the template didn't work...(I might have accidentally changed something though) - Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:19, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Fixed again. Same problem - excess spacing. –RpehTCE 15:24, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Okay, I didn't see that there was a discussion already, but I pointed out the reasons for this template being redundant on Template Talk:Link|the talk page. As Rpeh already pointed out, for inter-namespace links, the already-existing MW, TR, OB, etc. links do the trick nicely (better in fact, as they allow piped-links with a different name, e.g. this one), and are still fewer keystrokes to type than this. So I just don't see the reason for this template to exist. --TheRealLurlock Talk 09:35, 11 April 2008 (EDT)
I've also replied on the Template_talk:Link|talk page, but I wanted to say that one of the reasons I made the template was that making links whose direction and name are identical, and the time I didn't know of the existence of MW, OB etc. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 09:45, 11 April 2008 (EDT)

Oblivion modders[edit]

I've noticed there's a page about modders in Morrowind modding section. Any reason in particular why there's no such page for Oblivion, or just no one could be bothered creating it? ~ Arilita 10:58, 11 April 2008 (EDT)

There's this, but it's rather out of date. To be honest I don't think we need one. This isn't the site for that kind of thing; the profiles on OMW are much better. –RpehTCE 11:52, 11 April 2008 (EDT)

Removed comment[edit]

Oh ok, I never knew it was actually piracy :/ Caboose 13:54, 11 April 2008 (EDT)

Michaeldsuarez[edit]

OK, I wasn't sure wether to bring this up but I notice that Michaeldsuarez has been putting together sevearl userboxes that he has been updating frequently and clogging up the recent changes page, HMSVictory and I are concerned that theses will likely never be used, your opinion would be appreciated here. --Volanaro 08:05, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Yes I wish he'd stop. I've already had to patrol the darn things once and now I'm having to do it again. But they don't violate policy and at least these aren't being spammed over every new user's page. –RpehTCE 08:08, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
In that case could you perhaps ask him to slow down a bit with the rate he's updating them at, like i said hes' clogging up the recent changes screen, I'd ask him myself but I think he's more likely to listen to an admin than a mentor --Volanaro 08:10, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
I've stuck a message on his talk page, so we'll see what he makes of it. --HMSVictory 08:11, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
I'd rather he finished and moved on. –RpehTCE 08:12, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Apology[edit]

As useless as an apology is right now, here it is. I can only express my sheer regret over the incident between myself and Michaeldsaurez. Both of us went too far with issue in question and should have realised that sooner, before it escalated into an insult-throwing edit war. I understand that we have violated several site policies, and your blocks were entirely justified. I shall refrain from welcoming users in the future, as I know it will likely spark off another argument. As much as I dislike Michaeldsaurez's welcome template and userboxes, I realise that it is none of my business and it is not my responsibility to attempt to correct or criticise them. Once again, my record as an editor has been severely marred, and I do not wish to discuss the matter further. Thankyou. --HMSVictory 12:18, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Sorry for everything. I believe HMSVictory already said everything I would have said. Sorry. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 12:23, 13 April 2008 (EDT)

Redguard[edit]

I saw on your user page you want to play Redguard, I wanted to give you a heads up I can't get it to work on DGVoodoo (64-Bit Vista) (I spent hours configuring it to no avail, and almost injured my system) so I would recommend using VDos32 if it works on a 64 bit now. Also use Glidos, although there is an annoying logo in the background. If you can find another way to do it please tell me, but I think us Vista users are on our own. Puddle 02:33 April 14, 2008.

I've got it working (without sound) on another computer that's running 32-bit XP but it's way too fast. There's probably some settings I might give that link a try but I need to finish Morrowind first anyway! Thanks for the links though. –RpehTCE 06:28, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

Is it working on Glidos? I'd like to get rid of the rotating logo, and I found an in game setting for sound, I'm using one of the Soundblaster settings.(I think that's the name) Mine speeds up & slows down, but like I said, Vista walks a fine line on this game. (If it matters, my game had a Digital or 3D Voodoo choice in the installation menu). I'm on a Gateway ML6721.--Puddle 13:04, 26 April 2008 (EDT)

Pictures[edit]

I noticed some game pictures you took and you obviously have a good system. I however do not, but have found some great places for taking screenshots, and I ask If you can take pictures for these places. I hope this won't be a burden. Puddle

Bruma:On the Empty tower/lookout atop Cloud Ruler Temple.
Imperial City:Atop the Aleswell Inn in Aleswell.
Cheydinhal:Fly Up above Fort Farragut using tcl. (Probably best while still using city as the cell you're in. This one is basically speculation, as I haven't used the PC to get on top, but over the trees should give a good view)
I'll give those a go. In fact for the Cheydinhal ones I've already posted, I cheated a bit and used the Open Cities mod so I could get the shot I wanted. I'll give those a go this evening. –RpehTCE 06:30, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

Have I got what it takes?[edit]

Hello Rpeh. You have been one of my mentors on the wiki and I have learn so much from you. I have put what I have learnt to good use by helping out the wiki. I was wondering if I have what it takes to become an official patroller. I don't mind if you plainly say NO, but I would like to have your opinion. It would be fantastic for me to become a patroller and I would put those powers to good use. Please tell me what you think and, if I don't have what it takes please tell me what I need to improve on =D --Matthewest 06:25, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

I'd never say "No" but I think the answer here is "Not yet". If you look at the successful nominations on this page you'll get some idea of what people are looking for but the main criterion for a "yay" vote in my opinion is "Do I trust this user enough not to check every one of their edits?" In your case another editor often has to step in to do some cleaning up afterwards (such as the fix I just had to make to your edit on your previous nomination. We all make mistakes but yours are a bit too common at the moment. If you take a bit more time over your edits and cut those down then that'll be a big step forward. –RpehTCE 06:40, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Thanks Rpeh. I was going to fix up that mistake I made in the nomination title but I had to have dinner. I hope with a little more work and advice, I can become a patroller and help the wiki with those abilities. Any specific areas on the website that I can use prove my worthiness? --Matthewest 07:11, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Well, you can help me out with the Lore:Factions area. Some of the faction descriptions are quite terrible, while other are written in first person. Some are also very game-specific or include obsolete information. As you can see on the RecentChanges page, I've been working on the problem, but some help would be welcome! --HMSVictory 07:16, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Thanks HMSVictory. I will certainly be able to help you with that. As you can now see on my user page, it has been added to my 'projects' list. Also whenever you are on be sure to enter the Java Client UESP chatroom so we can talk. I am usually in it --Matthewest 01:41, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Editing Signatures[edit]

Rpeh, what should I enter if I wish my signature to also include a link to my talk page? I've tried HMSVictoryTalk, but that doesn't work, and also excludes the time and date. What should I do? I've tried copying yours and editing it, but to no avail. --HMSVictory 10:46, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

Make sure the "Raw signatures" option is selected in your preferences. –RpehTCE 10:57, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Thankyou, Rpeh! How could I have been so stupid? I didn't know what checking that box did, so I left it alone. It all makes so much sense now... --HMSVictoryTalk 10:59, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Um... Rpeh, sorry to change the subject, but a lot of newer editors seem to be pulling pranks on everyone by including the "You have new messages" sign on their page (see here and here), the links from that leading to completely unrealted or randomised pages. Anything you can do about this? It's just very annoying, is all. --HMSVictoryTalk 11:09, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
As I said on my talk page, I don't see what the problem is. It's not hurting anyone, it's not offensive, and it's their personal user space. In fact, I fell for it the first time and thought it was quite clever ;). I think we have more important things to worry about than a casual, harmless prank. –Eshetalk 11:42, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Nonetheless, it is extremely annoying and both degrading and humiliating if you happen to become a victim. If I were you, I would be issuing strict warnings to the users right now. --HMSVictoryTalk 11:45, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Then let us be grateful you're not me. It's a harmless joke, nothing more. As I said, there are many more important things for us to be doing than nitpicking over a couple of users' pages. I'm sorry, but it's best if you just let it go. –Eshetalk 11:49, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Then I will. Sorry, it just seems so incredibly childish to me. This is not the kind of thing we want on the site, and gives off a bad image to any new or potential editors who happen to fall into the trap. It may be harmless in the short term, but I'm just thinking of the future. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore. --HMSVictoryTalk 11:52, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

Ah, What the Hey![edit]

(moved to cookie jar)
Huh? Please explain. --HMSVictoryTalk 13:04, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Not too many more NPC images. –RpehTCE 13:06, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Oh, right. Finally you'll be able to relax! Have you done the Tribunal ones, though? --HMSVictoryTalk 13:08, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Yes. –RpehTCE 13:10, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Good to hear (read) it. I frankly don't have the patience (Or the software, for that matter) to upload any in-game images. I do, however, have a habit of uploading exterior images or moving site images onto my Userpage, take a look. There's another one at the bottom as well. Muhahaha! --HMSVictoryTalk 13:18, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

(Outdent)Reph, I noticed you just fixed another one of my screw-ups, but I can't help wondering - what do the "noinclude" parameters actually do? They seem to serve no purpose. At least, not one that I can see. --HMSVictoryTalk 13:33, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

The text between "noinclude" tags isn't transcluded onto the calling page. Similarly, "includeonly" tags cause the contained text to be displayed only on the calling page. –RpehTCE 13:42, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
Ah, so that is what is used for the game-specific faction titles that direct you while editing to their Tamriel counterparts through a template link. Understood. --HMSVictoryTalk 04:17, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Vandal[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

I think it's safe to say that 208.108.155.29 is a vandal after his blanking four pages (Warned after the 3rd). I'd reccomend a block, as constant undoing/reverting is going to get tiring. Thanks - Game LordTalk|Contribs 13:21, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

Already on it. Thanks. –RpehTCE 13:24, 14 April 2008 (EDT)

hello[edit]

I'll most certainly try that of what you told me! Thank you so very much for welcoming me here!!!

!!!!![edit]

Sorry 'bout that! --Ichigo Girl 13:36, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Question[edit]

I keep on hearing talk about how there will be these mods for books, and that they can have new and improved covers. Is this true? I kept seeing this in other sites.--Ichigo Girl 13:46, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Check this out. It makes books look much prettier! –RpehTCE 13:53, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

What?[edit]

Rpeh, what is going on? Why have you posted all those comments about youself? Is something wrong? --HMSVictoryTalk 13:46, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

I think I know what's up, and you're right. I know I'm part of the problem, but I think I'm still in a position where I can say that it is only a small group of users who have this attitude towards you. People are bound to disrespect authority if it is authority that silences them! Your actions, completely justified, will often end up enraging new users simply because they either do not understand or are so stubborn that they outright refuse to listen to you point of view. As for your link to my comment, it was me who misunderstood there, not you. If you are dead set on leaving, I won't try to stop you, but things certainly won't improve if you just walk away. Sorry. --HMSVictoryTalk 13:54, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
I'm tired. I'm fed up with being insulted. I'm getting fed up with the site. Like Nephele, I need a break or I'm going to lose it. –RpehTCE 13:55, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
OH, WOW!!!!--Ichigo Girl 13:58, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
I MEANT ABOUT THE BOOK MODS!!!!!!!! *sweats*--Ichigo Girl 14:00, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
Hey, if you've come this far under so many insults and still remained strong, the I'd say you are better than this. I know that the pressure is building up as of late, but remember, ignorance is bliss (That's not one of mine, by the way). If editors (HMS WARSPITE and Benny220 to name two) insult me, I dismiss their point. If they have to stoop to the level where in order to convey their point, they must fire insults everywhere, then listening and replying in a sensible, ordered manner is unlikely to reach them. I realise that you are in the spotlight far more than I am, but it doesn't hurt to be persistent. At least not in this case. Did Nephele mention leaving? If so, the blow will land hard amongst the community. Both of you have proved vital in diffusing or solving less-than-pleasant situations. I suppose that's part of the problem, though. And if I am too dim to understand what you're saying, then that is my fault, and in no way yours. --HMSVictoryTalk 14:05, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
Ummmm.... is everything ok?--Ichigo Girl 14:09, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
I know that vandalism has been getting worse recently on UESP, and that a lot of users are getting quite annoyed (not excluding myself), but if two of the largest contributers to the site simply say that they're leaving, the vandals will simply be encouraged. Here's a good saying (Not sure where it's from) "When you see danger, walk straight towards it. Nine times out of ten it will simply run away). I know that you've had to endure loads of insults, and I know how that feels (On one site I was called a power hungry nazi, due to my living in Germany), but I simply ignored, and deleted most of the insults, and eventually the vandals seemed to give up. I agree with HMSVictory that the recent additions of these two aren't exactly helping us, but I think that if we can persuade HMS WARSPITE to use less mobile-phone writing style, and explain to the how to contribute effectively, then even those two can be a help to UESP. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 14:19, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
Um, he does have a point.... but I am still new here... but it is a good thing to make sure that others know exactly whats going on ..... i could help with anything that you guys may need!!!--Ichigo Girl 14:37, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Nosy as I am, I also saw that message. I would add my urgent comment that it would be a serious blow if you left - you've already helped me with numerous matters. Robed Dawnbringer 13:52, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

I too will sign this ... petition?... to try and persuade you to stay. It's not my place, but I'm going to offer my opinion. --Twentyfists 20:44, 28 April 2008 (EDT)

New Game[edit]

Do you think that Bethesda will make one more game after this?--Ahnaz31 15:24, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Yes, they have stated that they will. Check here for more info. --HMSVictoryTalk 15:52, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
Beautiful! Heh, it's almost like they are trying to talk about every race in their games... that would be ten games in all! But really though, an MMORPG for TES??? Talk about lagging... that is if the people don't have the right stuff for it! But i'm all for it, though! Have they said anything about them changing consoles?--Ahnaz31 16:02, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

Ignorint fool? Nazi??[edit]

I highly doubt you could be any of these, as ignorent fools wouldn't be able to keep up a site like this as long as you have, and I REALLY don't think that nazis would give a rats bottom about TES!!! So... there! Your not any of these! And really, it doesn't matter who or what you are! And i don't care how corny this all sounds... its true! You keep on doing what you love!--Ahnaz31 16:19, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

O_O[edit]

That's funny, as April 27 is my Birthday... turning 20! But I do hope you have a nice time off!--Ahnaz31 16:49, 15 April 2008 (EDT)

208.108.156.25 by-passed block[edit]

I deleted his nonsense manually, since the page was blown up with no Undo available, and warned again. -BenouldTC 14:04, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for cleaning that up, Benould (and rpeh, since I was away). It's not really necessary to warn again after a warning and a block, but that's fine. Also, blocked users can still edit their talk pages, so don't worry about anything funky happening there ;). –Eshetalk 14:13, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
Ah, good to know that, Eshe. Although I'd rather not take out the garbage, I do it if need be! XD Cheers, BenouldTC 14:16, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
I may be on holiday but if a vandal is going to attack a load of pages I have on my watch list, I'll make an exception :) If similar behaviour recurs from a similar IP address it probably merits an instant block. I don't think there can be much doubt that 208.108.156.25 and 208.108.155.29 are the same user. –RpehTCE 14:33, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
sorry if im not on here as much, but i really need to get a story of mine finished and then published... my grandma has had me up all night helping her with her sickness. i will try and check in here as much as possible to see if help is needed.--Ahnaz31 14:39, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

Hi REPH, i was wondering how do you get them things at the side of your page saying 'this user is male etc' it's probably a dum question but i'm new hear thanks! MANURULZ1548

They are called userboxes, and they are easy to add, or even produce yourself. See this article for more information. --HMSVictoryTalk 08:33, 19 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks, I got some on my Page now! Manurulz1548 10:17, 19 April 2008 (EDT)

Proposed deletion of Sportsman Article[edit]

I think that the Sportsman Article in the Roleplaying area of the website does not need deleted anymore as it has no been updated

Coords[edit]

Hi Rpeh,

Two questions here. I was wondering if there existed a list of Morrowind Location pages lacking coordinate values, and, if not, if RoBoT would be able to generate one. Thanks in advance. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:59, 24 April 2008 (EDT)

May I ask for the same for Bloodmoon? I know most are found on Pages needing verification, but a complete list would be nice. --BenouldTC 17:10, 24 April 2008 (EDT)
Good idea. I'll take a look at the location template and come up with a list of params that are missing, similar to the one I did for NPCs and Quests. I doubt that'll be tonight - maybe tomorrow. –RpehTCE 13:49, 27 April 2008 (EDT)
Done. Enjoy! –RpehTCE 07:43, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Consensusses (Sounds bad but is grammatically correct)[edit]

Hello again,

I noticed you removed Benould's and RobinHood's nominations from the UESPWiki:Patrollers/Nominations page, but you seem to have forgotten to add the conscsnsuuess *splutters*. Just thought I'd mention it. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 12:38, 28 April 2008 (EDT)

Yeah, I was kinda wondering about that as well, but since it's "my first time", I figured maybe this was daveh's job or something, since we still haven't actually received Patroller rights. I was gonna give it a few days before making enquiries, but thanks! Oh and I'm not sure whether it's "consensusses", "consensuses" or "consenses", but either way, there's no c in it, so I removed that one from the title. :) (PS, Wiktionary says it's "consensuses", but I couldn't find any other site in the ones I usually go to that corroborated that. Just to add to the fun, someone in the regular Wikipedia said it should simply be "consensus".) --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 13:25, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
Mmm, I was even thinking "consensi", but chose not to. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 13:26, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
I fixed it. Of course, you'll still have to wait for Daveh to push the magic buttons before you get your Patroller rights, us regular Admins can't do that. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:49, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
Darn. I got distracted while I was moving them and I evidently forgot to add those. Thanks Lurlock. –RpehTCE 14:58, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
Now just to be on the safe side, did one of you actually inform Dave? --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 15:01, 28 April 2008 (EDT)
Yup. I remembered that bit :) –RpehTCE 02:14, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
Rather impressively, I posted right below it, and never even noticed! <blush> --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 02:23, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Susses, eh, Consensusses[edit]

I want some of those susses, sounds yummy. ;) Welcome back, Rpeh, hope you had a great vacation! Oh, and disregard my email, if your spam filter didn't do it already XDDD --BenouldTC 02:30, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Wrekonize2k8[edit]

You might want to keep an eye on this Benny220 and HMSWarspite have been creating several accounts including thi one, don't know what they're going to do with them but i doubt it will be good. --Volanaro 04:59, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks. I'd already spotted that one. Admins can tell which accounts come from the same IP so I'll be able to tell if it's them. –RpehTCE 05:02, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
Let me guess, checkuser? Like I said I don't know what they're going to do with them but I'll be able to keep an eye on them here. Nice to see you back by the way, hope you enjoyed your holiday. --Volanaro 05:03, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
Why are you people writing stuff about me.? Wrekonize2k8 05:11, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
I noticed and stopped Benny220 adding loads of welcome messages to no longer active users. I think he simply wants to be better known around the wiki. Of course most of us like seeing our name on talk pages, I won't pretend I don't, but creating new accounts only so that one can welcome them is going a bit far. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 10:29, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
I'd imagine that the Wrekonize2k8 account was created by our old chum Xbox aka HMS WARSPITE aka others. They all come from the same IP address though so they're reasonably easy to spot. –RpehTCE 10:35, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

(Outdent) Another thing I just noticed was that Wrekonize2k8 was welcomed by Benny220 at 04:56, 29 April 2008, but made his first edit at 10:58, 29 April 2008. Therefore Benny220 must have watched him create the account, then immediately welcome him, or he is the same person, because how else would Benny220 know of the accounts creation without it's having made an edit at that point? - Game LordTalk|Contribs 10:40, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Like i said, I saw him create it Benny 220 created wrekonize2k8 and then welcomed t straight afterwards, xbox/hms warspite hasn't done much recently except take the mick out of me, they did say something about vandalising the site on the last day of term thoug, also, i think hms warspite may have created an account called R...E...P...H or something like that. dunno if that counts as impersonating an admin or not. --Volanaro 11:51, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
I was just wondering if it would be a good idea to extend the block on our schools IP to the end of term, what do you think? --Volanaro 12:47, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
If there's any vandalism, that's probably what's going to happen. Let's hope it isn't necessary –RpehTCE 12:43, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
K, sorry if i'm getting on your nerves but i have a really big problem in my life at the moment which is affecting my thinking, not sure how much longer this will go on for but these idiots aren't helping. --Volanaro 12:47, 29 April 2008 (EDT)
If you want, I can give an explanation for some of my strange behaviour, but i would rather you didn't discuss it with too many people, preferably only Nephele and Lurlock since its quite personal.--Volanaro 08:37, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
If you want to tell me, feel free. Email would be best. –RpehTCE 08:40, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
K, there's an email on its way to you now. --Volanaro 08:48, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Apology[edit]

Sorry. I'll assume you know what I mean. --HMSVictoryTalk 11:58, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

No problem. Take care of yourself. –RpehTCE 12:04, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

Mentor[edit]

Hey Rpeh, I've just started here, and seen some of your work, which is awesome by the way. I was wondering if you could be my mentor for a while? I think I've got the basics down, but I'd like to learn some more advanced wiki editing, and I thought you'd be able to help since you play Oblivion too. Thanks! Figgy 21:55, 29 April 2008 (EDT)

I'm blushing :) Of course I'll help. Really there's not all that much to wiki editing; the only difficult bits are to do with tables. Take a look here for the basics and have a play in the Sandbox then let me know if there's anything else you need. –RpehTCE 02:03, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Assumably?[edit]

No such word? Which dictionaries are you looking at? [1] [2] [3] ;-D --Gaebrial 09:48, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Interesting. I was using my own brain dictionary and the Firefox one. Evidently both are faulty! Having said that, it's a horrible word. –RpehTCE 09:52, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
True. I prefer 'presumably' as well. Maybe it's a British vs. American thing. --Gaebrial 09:55, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Nonsense[edit]

I think this has gone far enough, almost all their edits have been either irrelevant or nonsense. what do you think should be done? --Volanaro 10:06, 30 April 2008 (EDT)

Well you've given a warning now so let's see what happens next. –RpehTCE 10:24, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
