Ah, so you have stumbled across my talk page. You either seek my knowledge, or seek to expand it. In any case, post your question, reply, or intriguing fact without worry. I'll answer any question about functions, templates, and similar useful clutter. I'll try to be helpful. I tend to let my messages pile up, even if the conversation is long over, so anything here will stay here for a while.

Welcome![edit]

Hello! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

  • If you prefer to discuss Elder Scrolls related topics with other users, without the expectations of a wiki to worry about, see our Forums.

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! --Kalis Agea 23:50, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

Old Topics[edit]

First, thanks for the edits you've been making - it's a very promising start to life on UESP! There's just one thing I ought to mention: please could you check the date on topics before replying? Adding replies to really old discussions like this (over since Aug 2007) and this (over since May 2008) is generally discouraged because it's likely that the discussion is long finished. Other than that, keep up the good work! rpeh •TCE 07:58, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Oh, I understand. But if the topic should not be discussed because it is that old, why is it still in the talk/discussion section? Shouldn't it be archived or moved? I figured I replied to an unresolved issue, but thanks for the heads-up. I will be more careful. - Neural Tempest 14:58, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
Discussions are only archived when the entire page becomes cluttered. Only active talk pages are usually archived, which is why you'll see years-old discussions on articles which don't receive as much attention. Legoless 15:02, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
To be brutally honest, archiving sucks. You have to sort though the topics to determine which are still open, make sure the format and such is good, create the page as well as link to it. And there are a lot of talk pages. Keeping all talk pages current and clean would be a lot of work. --DKong27 Talk Cont 15:05, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
You veteran Editors really do enjoy being helpful, don't you? Thanks again for the "unwritten" guidelines. For talk pages, I'll stick to pages I find in the "Recent Changes" page. I'll leave thoughts about archiving to the experts. Speaking of such, have you checked the Oblivion Glitch Archives? That stuff is stacking up like snow in Skyrim. - Neural Tempest 15:18, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

Parser Functions[edit]

Hmm... I used the function "{{LOCALTIME}}", in my countdown to Skyrim, and now the time doesn't update, even when I cleared my browser memory. My page does not seem heavily used, so it probably wouldn't have been cached by the server. Puzzling.- Neural Tempest 17:41, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

A template idea.[edit]

I suggest a congratulations template for fanfiction writers. It could have a picture of a pen and it could say: "Congratulations! You made an awesome fanfiction! Here is what the person had to say." Does that sound like a good idea?--Iamgoofball 02:51, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Yes, pretty good start, but, this leave a lot to my imagination. No problem, I'll make it, but I think you could materialize your vision better than I. I'm not sure how much it'll be used, or what the qualifications would be, because I haven't read much Fanfiction. I've only read a tidbit from your sandboxes. I'll make it under the title Template:Goodfanfiction, you're welcome to edit it as you see fit. - Neural Tempest 03:00, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I just finished it. I put it on my page. Also, did you like the story so far?--Iamgoofball 03:36, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay, first, I'm still working on it buddy! Right now I'm writing functions for selecting default message vs. typed. Secondly, your story seems... short. Yes... needs more of a delicious juicy filling. Let your mind burst forth into this long forgotten Tome! (I assume you would have a story for the story? a prologue explaining the discovery of a lost journal? from the crusader himself?) Add! Expand! The story must be EPIC, leaving the reader trapped in the pages, gasping at each swordblow! Leave no detail to doubt; describe each gust of wind, or the acrid stench of an ogre. Let every Cyrodiilic impossibility become true reality, and your readers shall leave this one far behind. Side note: Will you always refer to the Divine Crusader so formally? Perhaps you could allow him to be called something smaller, something that flows in conversation, allowing every word to be uttered more naturally. - Neural Tempest 04:17, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
I just updated it. The companions refer to him as Mage. Also, this is the Crusader's view of what is going on in this story:User:Kalis_Agea/The_Ayleid_Lord--Iamgoofball 04:25, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
If I seem to disappear for a while, it is because I am working on the template, or something similar. When I looked to see your template, I lost the work I had already done. I'll work past this. Just a minor inconvenience.- Neural Tempest 04:38, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for all the good work[edit]

--Candc4 04:22, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the thanks, and since you are on the right track, keep going! There are always more projects to work on, and we haven't even gotten into Skyrim like the other games yet (I'm hoping the upcoming surge in gamer activity, and help searches, won't bring our wiki to the breaking point). Don't stop the good work! - Neural Tempest 06:38, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
oh no the wikis going to explode what will we do ;) --Candc4 06:42, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
FYI, check the date the clock's counting down to. Get it? Maybe not? Ok, if you give up, it's 11/11/11, the Skyrim release. I assumed with thousands of gamers editing this site, things might get crazy. I just added that thing when I figured out how to use functions, when I had too much free time. It auto-updates, based on the last cache time, so it should be fairly accurate. As a bonus, it probably can't be copied to another page without alterations. I liked it, and figured it worked, so I'd keep it. - Neural Tempest 06:51, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for mentioning my clock. It was acting spazzy once the month rolled over to May, but I fixed it. - Neural Tempest 07:27, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the template help.[edit]

You have been given an Oghma Infinium!

Your awesome wiki edits have not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the awesome edits you've made, and has given you this book because of it. Good work!

Hey,Thanks for the template help!

Thanks for the thanks, keep up the good work! With this personal milestone (your template) achieved, seek out the next one; a new project can always be found somewhere... - Neural Tempest 06:38, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Love it.[edit]

:) --GKtalk2me 02:57, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Haha, glad to help. I was trying to get through them, at least I correctly called which one I messed up on. Thanks!--Catmaniac66 03:00, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
This site is all about teamwork! I love helping people, especially if it only requires 4 keystrokes, and I don't even have to leave my chair. :)
After seeing that vast pile of link-mending, the least I could do was fulfil your request. Keep up the good work! (but leave some for me) - Neural Tempest 04:27, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
Haha man, if there's work to be done and someone wants a peice Ill gladly let them have some! Thanks for the cleanup.--Catmaniac66 04:54, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
