Welcome[edit]

Hello Jbeamer99! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Skyrimplayer (talk) 00:12, 6 December 2012 (GMT)

Contributing[edit]

Hi guys/gals I have been using this site for about four months now and it has been very helpful. too give you a little background I'm currently going through a divorce and have two girls so to save money I began to play my Xbox more and happened to pick up skyrim from blockbuster. At the time I had never played the elder scrolls. Here it is five months later and I've played through all three Xbox titles including 90% of the side quest. Only tribunal and blood moon have escaped me being they are hard to find used. Now with dragon born and the online coming (not looking forward to the Pc changeover) and my lack of funds, I want to help here. The problem is I have no coding experience but I'm a quick study. I guess to get to the point, I need direction on the best way to learn how to properly input information so others don't have to run around fixing my screwups.

Hiya Jbeamer! Glad to have your help here. The links provided in the welcome message above are a great place to start. Otherwise, the easiest way to learn is by doing! And, just so you know, creating new pages is one of the more difficult things to start out with, since it's hard to know what formatting and/or templates to use without having anything to start with. So don't worry about things being changed right afterward, that's what the wiki's all about. :) The trick I use to create new pages is to use another page in the same type of category as a base, and just change the information around. For instance, when making a new NPC page, copy the formatting from an NPC page that's been around for a while, paste it onto the new page, and delete/edit the information which needs changing. Also, if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask a mentor or any active editors anything wiki-related — there's plenty around here that are more than happy to help out! Have fun editing! :) — ABCface 01:32, 6 December 2012 (GMT)
