Welcome[edit]

The Great Divide Post[edit]

I'm sorry if there was any offense at the removal of your post. It can be difficult for other editors to explain in the little bit of space the summary allows, so I thought I'd expand on Kiz's explanation a little bit. On the wiki, we try to stay focussed on article content and discussions of how it can be improved. While there's certainly some room for leeway, posts that are entirely opinion based, or how an aspect of the game could be improved, are usually removed so as to stay on-topic. We don't want to discourage you from posting—quite the opposite, we'd like to encourage it—but you'll get a lot more interest on the sort of thing you posted if you discuss it in our forums or, if you prefer live chat, our Discord server. Thanks! Robin Hood  (talk) 07:23, 10 November 2019 (GMT)

Sorry, I don't have time to waste on wikis with such petty policies where I have to worry whether I'm threading the needle correctly with every attempt at a contribution. My contribution was absolutely on-topic and was not hurting anything. Your policy hurt something, however, and it's up to you to decide whether that matters more than preserving the posterity of a discussion page on a random article. It's that simple. --HunterZ (talk) 07:28, 10 November 2019 (GMT)
Experience has shown us that forum-like posts tend to produce a lot of discussion that's unrelated to the article and which simply clutters up the page, making it harder to track discussions about content. We've had that policy in place, either officially or unofficially, for almost as long as the wiki has existed. Even if you feel slighted by it, in the long run, we've found that the good outweighs the bad when it comes to that approach. I hope you'll reconsider at some point in the future. Given that a much more substantial contribution I made months ago to an article was just casually reverted as well, no, I have no interest in wasting time on trying to thread the needle. It's obvious that this site is only superficially open to edits, but is really controlled by an "elite few". In fact, if the option were available I would have deleted or deactivated my account. --HunterZ (talk) 16:20, 19 November 2019 (GMT)
Keep in mind that that's one editor, and like Wikipedia, we try to discourage the mentality that some editors' views have more weight than others. Everyone is free to disagree with a change, regardless of who makes it, and I can certainly see why you'd be irritated that an edit you put so much work into was reverted. Personally, I can see the utility of having a full table, since it's sortable and you can readily find the horse with the highest hit points, the best horse you can afford right now, or whatever else it is you're looking for. On the other hand, having separate sections makes it a lot more readable. I'm not sure we can accommodate both, but I'll have a look at it and see if I can find a good middle ground. (Update: this is my idea on how to have the best of both worlds. Thoughts?) Robin Hood  (talk) 19:56, 19 November 2019 (GMT)
