Welcome back Dcking[edit]

Welcome back friend, it's good to see you're editing again, a lot of us have missed you. I wanted to give kudos personally for this page, very well done. Thal-J (talk) 19:58, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

Appreciate it TJ! A young baby plus a seemingly increasing amount of unneeded drama made me have to take a step back from active discord and editing for awhile, but the love for elder scrolls and persevering dank lore via UESP hasn’t wavered! —Dcking20
How is the little one? Not taking up too much of your time I hope.
I'm glad to hear that despite circumstances your passion for the series (and documenting lore) hasn't faltered. Honestly, I can empathise with your decision to take a step back from the Discord side of things, I'm going through the movements of something similar myself.
I guess what I want to say is, is that I and a few other wiki editors whom you know were just concerned that you had just quit totally cold turkey.
There have been so many developments on Shadowkey lore, documentation and datamining that I've been dying to tell you, but it looks like you've signed out of Discord for fair few months now. There's of course ESO stuff, too, the upcoming Greymoor chapter has some truly dank stuff in it.
I know that you've stepped back from the Wiki Discord (you left it, if I recall correctly), but would you consider coming back online in general? (For DMs, private servers and stuff.)
I understand if not, you've got a kid and other priorities after all, but I at least wanted to ask you about it. Thal-J (talk) 23:24, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
yeah man I’ll definitely be coming back online soon to our mutual servers to discuss new finds and what’s going on with graymoor and all that! I’m super hype for new Shadowkey finds —dcking20
Awesome, looking forward to chatting with you, there's a lot to share. Thal-J (talk) 09:30, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Antiquities[edit]

Hey Dcking, I noticed you linked to TIL in your edit on Lore:Lefthanded Elves. We actually have a good few of the codex entries on the wiki now, so lore references should preferably point to the relevant internal page where available (in this case Online:Antiquity Furnishings). —Legoless (talk) 00:03, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Sup Lego! Sounds good man I’ll copy that formulae from now on when referencing Antiquities -dcking20 — Unsigned comment by Dcking20 (talkcontribs) at 00:39 on 14 June 2020 (UTC)
If you're looking for the non-furnishing codices, seems they're being added here (e.g. Online:Eyevea Antiquities). —Legoless (talk) 17:32, 14 June 2020 (UTC)

Good Work[edit]

Just wanted to say good work on lore pages last few days, missed your cool approach to lore. Imperialbattlespire (talk) 19:41, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

appreciate it imp bat! Can’t help but love the lore side of things lol -dcking20

Signing[edit]

Hi dcking! I notice that you've been manually signing your talk page posts rather than using automatic signing. You can simply add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comments to ensure that date and time is recorded and to provide a link back to your userpage. —Legoless (talk) 10:59, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Hidden in the Sand[edit]

You expressed an interest in a Lore:Dunmer sandbox project when Lore:Breton was nominated for FA status, so I'm putting this here in case you'd like to take a look or contribute to it. Hope your day is swell! -MolagBallet (talk) 17:50, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Show Preview[edit]

Hi Dcking! You seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilise this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. —Legoless (talk) 09:07, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Reverting Edits[edit]

Hey, I saw that you reverted my edits. I don't mind but I would like to know a bit more of your justification so I can learn. The Adabal-a, the only in-game source for the name Kothri, mentions them separately from Nedes. To further my point, Keptu are included, while sources place them seperate from the Nedes (Song of Pelinal).

Perrif's original tribe is unknown, but she grew up in Sard, anon Sardarvar Leed, where the Ayleids herded in men from across all the Niben: kothri, nede, al-gemha, men-of-'kreath (though these were later known to be imported from the North), keptu, men-of-ge (who were eventually destroyed when the Flower King Nilichi made great sacrifice to an insect god named [lost]), al-hared, men-of-ket, others... Mindtrait0r (talk) 21:58, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

Hey, yeah so the Adabal-a source is wholly unique in the fact that it refers to Nede in that context (the above source you’ve shared) as merely one of various tribes. This is a bit misleading as Alessia is by various sources a Nede and yet her tribe is unknown (thus Nede is a race in most contexts of the slave rebellion not a mere distinguishable tribe) But furthermore and above all else, Kothringi are not Nedic tribes nor do we have any evidence that they were one of the various tribes around in the days of the fully aboriginal humans before the modern races we see in the games. That are articles state that Kothri are those Nedic ancestors is technically inferring, but I believe it was put there since Kothri seem like they would be the obvious bet given the name similarities. If consensus opinion over turns linking the Kothri with the Kothringi that’s fine imo but my only particular stance is that we don’t name Kothringi as a tribe of Nedes because we have no sources stating as such and do have a source that calls them merely descendants of nedes. Dcking20 (talk) 20:14, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
My counterpoint to the Kothri being equal to the Kothringi is the separation of the Men-of-Ket from the Ket Keptu, two races which were previously merged. People seemed to agree that the assumption was flimsy there, I think it was on the Keptu talk page if you want to read. Mindtrait0r (talk) 21:58, 3 February 2023 (UTC)

Reman’s race and his descendants being Imperials.[edit]

I agree with making Reman’s race man, but the line "proud son of the West" is not necessarily confirmation that Reman was a Colovian; it just confirms that he was from Colovia. This line, "He needs Cuhlecain in the Colovian Estates, where foreigners are mistrusted," from The Arcturian Heresy could be used as confirmation that Cuhlecain was a Colovian, but it just confirms that Cuhlecain was from the Colovian Estates not that he was a Colovian. The only member of the Reman Dynasty whose race is somewhat deducible other than Reman I is Reman III since his son is described as a Cyrodiil, but Reman III’s wife was an Imperial, so that isn’t necessarily confirmation either, but Kastav, Reman II, and Brazollus Dor's races are never mentioned or implied in any way. The relationships of the Reman emperors are not very clear, and the only real confirmation that the Reman emperors were even related is Versidue-Shaie saying that Reman’s line was extinct.Savirien-Chorak (talk) 06:24, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

"That is why I would suggest that you not lead the vanguard into battle. I know you would want to, as your illustrious ancestors Reman I, Brazollus Dor, and Reman II did, but I fear it would be foolhardy. I hope you do not mind me speaking frankly like this." Here’s a more explicit line on the ancestry Dcking20 (talk) 10:34, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

Tone[edit]

Hey there. I received a complaint about a few of your edits recently, and I've just gone over them. While I don't agree with all the issues they presented, I would like to ask you to be careful of your tone and to assume good faith when replying to things or writing edit summaries. The two that particularly stood out to me were edit summaries that referred to someone's edits as "troll edits" or as "very absurd". Especially with newbies, as in the first case, it's important to be patient and assume that they mean well or just don't know the rules. A better approach in both cases would have been to ask the person why they thought the edit was important or to present reasons why your version was preferable. Whether it's in edit summaries or in discussions, what matters most is the facts surrounding the edits people want to make, not their motivations for making them. Enchilada[edit]

Enchilada.jpg

You have been given an enchilada!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a fully cooked enchilada because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

Fantastic work on Lore:Alduin! Your efforts have granted that article a much needed glow-up. —MolagBallet (talk) 18:14, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
