Welcome[edit]

Hello DKong27! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our Patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! –Eshetalk 23:14, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

signature[edit]

Hey how did you make your signature? In the my preferences place I put in ArnyTalk and it showed up the same way on the page how do you amke it show up like it is supposed to (how did you put in yours)? --ArnyTalk 20:00, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes it shows up like that --Arny 20:03, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Did you tick the raw signatures box? Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 20:06, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
That's what I was about to ask...but my browser crashed. Beaten to a comment on my own Talk page. :p --DKong27 Talk 20:10, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
I did now let me see if it works --ArnyTalk 20:12, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
It does thanks! --Arny 20:12, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Test[edit]

I noticed you took my test. I have some questions. What do you think of it? Did you like it? Did you had fun? --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 22:40, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

I really liked it. It was well written and fun to take. I would have taken it like 8 hours ago, but I had to bookmark it as I was leaving. :p Only small annoyance was having to keep score, but I just put it into the Google Search Bar and summed it there. Keep up the good work. --DKong27 Talk Cont 22:44, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Thank you. The test cannot be considered mine because big parts of it were copied from the respective Wikipedia test, although I removed all the questions that were making the test boring and overwhelming and I added some new ones. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 22:52, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

The Hist FG Quest[edit]

Hi; I notice you "undid" my addition to the above quest page:

http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=Oblivion:The_Hist&diff=621878&oldid=621876

Can you please explain why? I don't understand your comment regarding "no reason it should do this" since it's happened each time I've tried it :)

Thanks WalB 10:40, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

There's a big discussion about this on the talk page. rpeh •TCE 11:28, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Ah ok, thanks for the link, I hadn't checked there, and admittedly, I've played it with a few mods installed, although none of them look as though they directly affect Maglir's status (as already being out of the guild). WalB 14:52, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Edit Undo[edit]

You undid my edit on Sins of the Father. You said stealth and combat notes were noted elsewhere, but i dont see them. And i think it should be in the walkthrough part if it is there. — Unsigned comment by Spokaneskater (talkcontribs) at 16:24 on December 5, 2010

All you put in the walkthrough was general guidelines on how to fight and how to sneak. What you put adds nothing to the content of the page or the useful knowledge on how to complete the quest. And please sign your comments on talk pages with ~~~~ or the signature button. --DKong27 Talk Cont 00:14, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Apologies[edit]

Sorry to have posted the multiple edits earlier today, which you mentioned in my talk page. I did use the preview, but for some reason my brain was just not catching the errors. Usually I'm better about this. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Syscrusher 01:01, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

About that warning...[edit]

You just warned a user about something that was probably a test edit. It was a message inapropriate for this case. You may want to look here for more polite messages that suited the situation better (More specifically, this one). --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 19:24, 25 December 2010 (UTC)

In case of spamming...[edit]

You shouldn't post a warning. The first admin that will see it will instantly and permanently block the user, so there is no need for a warning. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 19:54, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Not true. They get blocked after a warning, as they may be unaware of the policy.--Ghurhak gro-Demril or TAOYes? 20:34, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it's not that black and white. An obvious spambot will get an instant perma-block, but it's possible for a human to spam without realising it's against the rules, in which case a warning would probably be given. I'm fairly sure we've had one or two cases where a simple "Please don't do that" message on a talk page was enough to let somebody know that spamming wasn't accepted. The old "nonsense bots" though, always merited an instant block. rpeh •TCE 22:14, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

Edit Summaries[edit]

Hey there! Just wanted to remind you about providing edit summaries when you revert edits; this and this is hardly satisfying for the users who put the info there in good faith, and edit summaries would make patrolling the reverts a lot easier. Nevertheless, keep up the good work! --Krusty 22:05, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

I usually try but I get lazy sometimes. I'll try more. --DKong27 Talk Cont 22:09, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
On your "My preferences" page, go to the "edit" tab and checkmark "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary". Then you cannot forget. --Brf 22:11, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Removal of a recent revision[edit]

In the Morrowind beast section, unless the statement was false I didn't see any need for its removal, just a serious grammar overhaul, such as, "These creatures are non-aggressive, but very defensive of their territory". I couldn't tell you if the statement is true, but if you know its false then good edit, if your unsure about it, I would have left it for someone more knowledgeable of morrowind to correct it. Pointless Instigation[edit]

It wasn't okay to add a comment between me and Guild Knight's little dispute, 'kay? "I think my IQ dropped a few points by reading this". It IS considered an act of vandalism, and is also considered an attack. (: Please, just stay out of our conversations, especially mine. (: Shianni 20:35, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

DKong27 is a Userspace Patroller, so it is his job to moderate here in Userspace. --Brf 20:39, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh? So he can commit an attack, because he's a Userspace Patroller? He insulted both, GuildKnight, and me. :oShianni 20:41, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
No. He was insulting your topic. --Brf 20:43, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
You just admitted he insulted me. :/. Is it not true, that insulkts are considered attacks? Shianni 20:45, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
I said he insulted your topic, not you. --Brf 20:48, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

As GuildKnight told me, "I am very sorry you do not understand, I have tried to explain. But you have not listened". :/. Insult=Attack. Do you not understand? Shianni 21:46, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Well, if the topic has a problem with being insulted, it has a right to complain. --Brf 21:53, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
But, as you said earlier. It was an insult, not a complaint!!! This is the last time I'm explaining things. >.< You're hopeless! D:< Shianni 21:57, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Wait, you said it... So Dkong27 is a robot? That explains everything, he didn't know what he said was offensive as he can not emote. Seriously though that was a pretty pointless argument you caused last night Shianni, there was no other possible logical response after GuildKnight explained exactly what you did wrong roughly six times. --AKB Talk 21:59, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
How about, "Stop arguing"? that's logical, but fine. I'll stop. :/. Shianni 22:01, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
*Sigh* Gone for a few hours and I miss a whole discussion on my own talk page... --DKong27 Talk Cont 00:30, 25 January 2011 (UTC)

Unnesecary?[edit]

How? I alerted XinXX that he was going to be in alot of trouble. (atleast he better be.) Shianni 16:44, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

You don't really have to warn people that they will be in trouble - it is kind of obvious when they receive a warning and keep up the vandalism. Much better to notify me (or other admins) like you did. --Krusty 16:57, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

What the frick... vandalism...[edit]

This vandalism is getting ridiculous. Theres one dude vandalising (and we only have a few blockers) and a bunch of other people probably gaming the "Good faith" clause... Way to keep on top of it!--Catmaniac66 05:28, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

For future reference, it's best to post a notice on the Admin noticeboard when this sort of thing happens. Especially when Admins/Blockers are away or busy, they're more likely to notice a post there than be monitoring Recent Changes. In any event, he's blocked for 3 hours till one of the Admins makes it longer. Robin Hoodtalk 06:48, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Excuse me, hello... I'm a guest to UESP who frequently uses this site. I keep getting warnings about vandalism when I haven't even clicked the edit button on any pages. I'm not even told what pages have been "vandalised". Please don't block my IP for no reason. Thanks... — Unsigned comment by 79.97.147.83 (talk) at 15:45 on 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Your current IP address is linked to no vandalism. Though this does bring up a somewhat topic... Don't worry about being accused of vandalism if you didn't do it. If you are still worried about being banned create an account, therefore you don't have to worry about some anonymous vandal making you lose your editing privileges. --AKB Talk Contribs Email 15:45, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Template loop?[edit]

I know I am a novice at best when it comes to templates (which is why i proded it instead of speedied) but what is a template loop? Is that what caused my deletion template to duplicate? --AKB Talk Contribs Email 01:06, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Yeah. He created a page in Template and made the text to use itself. Thus it used the prod you put, saw the template, and then copied it again. If there wasn't a fail-safe blocking it from looping it would copy itself over infinitely. --DKong27 Talk Cont 01:18, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for explaining that, I'm going to review the templates help file, hopefully it'll help fill this gap of my knowledge. --AKB Talk Contribs Email 01:25, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

What is noyes?[edit]

Hi, you removed my edit. What is noyes? If first person point of view is not accepted here it would've been enough to just remove the last sentence. I was trying to do the quest at lvl26 but I play a bard and so I'm less into heavy fighting and the tactic described on the article was impossible for me. I tried to find a way matching my character and keeping the followers alive - and to suggest this tactic to others. Greetings: Makarius 09:50, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

First, that was a typo. Noted is what I was going for. Second, your method isn't very notable in my opinion. Putting every single possible method of completing the quest would be long and pointless. You are just saying to kill the enemies before talking to Farwil. That is basically common sense of a strategy. Also, why did you put Resist Fire? I don't see how that would be specifically helpful. --DKong27 Talk Cont 14:41, 27 March 2011 (UTC)
I put on fire resistance because it is almost impossible to get along below the bridge without falling into the lava. About: 'Common sense of strategy' - makes sense. Greetings: Makarius 05:26, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Just a note: Fire resistance does not affect Lava. It is considered Water Damage. --DKong27 Talk Cont 13:03, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks I did not know this. Greetings: Makarius 18:17, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

TESNexus link[edit]

If you wanted to include the TESNexus link on your mods page, just add a "2=" in front of the text in the FC template, so:

{{notice|{{FC|purple|2=These mods, created by yours truly, are insanely epic. I am not responsible for any brain explosions from overdose of epic. If you find any problems, feel free to contact me here or at TESNexus. (...)

It doesn't like the link because it uses an equals sign as part of the link, so MediaWiki thinks it's a template parameter. Robin Hoodtalk 09:17, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! I was wondering why that wouldn't work. --DKong27 Talk Cont 12:42, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Template Redirects[edit]

Just because I'm going to frown at you isn't a reason not to do it. Basically, if you think that redirect will save you time in the long run, create it. I'm hoping that we'll be able to host our own version of SineBot soon to make such questions irrelevant anyway. If you do create the redirect, the category it needs to go in is this one. rpeh •TCE 23:44, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

I was still pondering it a bit, but I believe I will. The main reason is that in addition to it being shorter, I always seem to spell unsigned wrong about half the time anyway...BTW, I would responded yesterday but I was busy...Dang graduation preparation. I had seen SineBot on Wikipedia before. That would be really nice if we could get something like that working. Nay, not nice, Epic. :þ --DKong27 Talk Cont 15:07, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

E-mail[edit]

Hey DKong27 - since you are a Patroller with BlockUser rights, it would be more than useful if you allowed e-mail usage as soon as possible. I know enabled e-mail access is only mentioned as a "suggestion" on the Patroller page, but that is about to change. A dead e-mail link like the one here is not really a good idea either. Thanks - also for reverting all the nonsense last night. --Krusty 05:16, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Nonsense?[edit]

I was wondering why you called this edit nonsense... It could have simply been an accident, and I feel I must state that assuming good faith is policy. Elliot (talk) 02:40, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

I use nonsense as a general term for edits that are either untruthful or are nonsensical, such as random removal small sections. Larger removals I will usually call deletion. I do this to avoid using the term vandalism in places where it is unlikely or uncertain. For some fun, go here. :p --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 03:00, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Nonsense carries a negative connotation on a wiki. I still think deletion would have been better here. Elliot (talk) 03:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

No problem. It was a simple fix of the <noinclude> tags. Someone must have accidentally forgot the close tag and added another start tag, so it was missing everything up to the next end tag. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 03:35, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Console Location Codes[edit]

Well, what are the console location codes for the painted world. Im writing a page for it here and im trying to do a normal place summary. I would presume they have normal location codes? And if not, would would you suggest I place in that section? --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 20:23, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

The only console code location I can think for it would be MS14World, which is the name for it's world space. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:41, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, i'll use that then :D --Kiz ·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 20:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
The worldspace is indeed MS14World. Most of the cells are simple Wilderness, several of which contain trees and rocks, but are mostly empty. Also one cell named Wilderness01, which a few scattered painting supplies, no seemingly no purpose. The only others are DarkForest01 to DarkForest09. These are where the action takes place. Rythe is in DarkForest06 and the Thief is in DarkForest09, with the trolls scattered throughout. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 21:52, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Do we list Wilderness cells, even if they're named? I purposely ignored the cells found in that world for this reason. I know that we list them on Oblivion:Mankar Camoran's Paradise, but we're still not listing a lot of unnamed Wilderness cells in that world. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:00, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
No, there is a lot of pointless areas. I think perhaps a mention of the range of cells in the main area and the 2 I pointed out. I think those are likely to be the places anyone would want to use the console to get to anyway. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 22:05, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

unsigned template[edit]

Don't know if you noticed, but everytime you added the unsigned template to a message on a talk page, it does not display the year. That's likely because you use Uns instead of unsigned. I wouldn't know why the usage of that template causes the year to be undisplayed, but I thought I should point it in case you didn't know. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 21:37, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Template:Uns is a redirect, meaning it directly goes to Template:Unsigned. So I don't see why that would be a cause... Let's test it.

Hmm...it seems to be stemming from the date/time input. I never really looked closely into my unsigns, so it never caught my attention. Let's try another test...
— Unsigned comment by DKong27 (talkcontribs) at 16:37 on October 15 2011 - Unsigned using copy and paste from history, but with the comma removed after the day on the month
That's it. It sees the second comma and removed everything after that. Which is a problem because the standard history records it as such. I'll be back in a a little bit, so I'm not ignoring if you respond when I'm gone. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 22:06, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for explaining it to me. Bit naive of me to think the template itself was at fault. By the way, why would I think you'd be ignoring me? You can't be active at all times. It took me some time to respond as well. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 22:25, 15 October 2011 (UTC)
Don't put too much thought behind that. xD I was literally writing that as I was walking out the door. I'm usually around at this time of day though. I think I'm going to ask someone about a small change. Since the date is used in all my uses of the template, if it was changed to include it right, they should all be fixed. I will put a notice on Elliot's page, as he seems to have done the most recent editing of it. --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 01:01, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
One minor point here is that you seem to be using a custom date/time setting. The format I see on history pages and elsewhere is "18:05, 15 October 2011", which I believe is the system default. Under my preferences, you can customize the date/time format -- I've selected "no preference" there, but the second option in the list looks like what you're using, namely "16:12, January 15, 2001". I agree that the template should be fixed so that it can handle either date format, but I wanted to clear up any potential confusion over why we're seeing different date formats. --NepheleTalk 01:48, 16 October 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing that up, it never crossed my mind to check there... --DKong27 Tk Ctr Em 02:03, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

() The problem is that the #explode reads and separates the date by the commas. If you add more than the one already in there, it confuses it. The copy and pasting really doesn't make a difference; the formatting does. The {{#local:date|{{#explode:{date}|, |1}}}} is the culprit. I'll fiddle around with some things to see if it can be changed without overcomplicating the matter. elliot (talk) 01:25, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Okay, it should work now. It was a little easier than I thought it would be. My computer logging me out was the only issue! elliot (talk) 01:39, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
