Welcome[edit]

Hello Corevette789! Welcome (quite belatedly!) to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice. If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! –Eshetalk 19:13, 8 June 2009 (EDT)

Use Show Preview[edit]

Hello and welcome to UESPWiki! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilize this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Oh and I see you are having trouble organizing your userboxes, just tell me what you want to accomplish and I will gladly help :) --MC S'drassa T2M 03:32, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I am copying and pasting userboxes on to my page. I have done several edits trying to arrange the buggers. (confusing but I have figured it out now)and could you please direct me to a page, if one exists, that contains all current userboxes? I have seen one page that wasn't all too helpful because it didn't list all that many.

Sure, you can see at the top Userboxes several links aligned (like gameplay, personal information, etc.), well those links contain more userboxes according to the description. I'm afraid that there isn't a page that can list all the userboxes. Feel free to ask if you have any other question --MC S'drassa T2M 03:49, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Haha this is actually what I was referring to but thank-you for your help.--Corevette789 03:52, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

No problem! And by the way you don't need to copy and paste userboxes, you can simply type {{User Oblivion}} (with the brackets) and it will give you this:
User-userbox-Oblivion.png This user is knowledgeable about Oblivion.

Moved question from Talk:Lore Books[edit]

Umm I hit random page and this came up saying this was a glitch. Help?--Corevette789 20:49, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm moving the question here, as the article the talk page was from shouldn't really exist and it's best to delete it. The glitch is known, see this. The article you found exists in some sort of limbo state, that's why you got the error message. --Timenn-<talk> 13:35, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Well, I would have proposed for deletion if I knew how--Corevette789 20:59, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

You can propose an article for deleting by adding the {{Prod}} template to it. Make sure you give a reason for the deletion. In this case it wouldn't have been necessary as the page was actually deleted, but due to some corruption it displayed this instead of the usual confirmation that no such page exists. --Timenn-<talk> 21:02, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Noticed something...[edit]

At about 7:00 for me the Recent Changes page said the changes made were done...tomorrow? What timezone does the site work on because I think that is what I am looking at.--Corevette789 00:24, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Eastern Standard Time. DaveH lives in Eastern Canada. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 00:29, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Hmm that explains it. Thanks!--Corevette789 00:31, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Wait, I'm only half-right. I only answered your Time Zone question, but I forgot about your RecentChanges question. {{LOCALTIME}} (the "magic word" for server time) displays 15:40 , which is Eastern Standard Time, but this isn't the time use in page histories or RecentChanges. UTC is used for signatures, revision dates, and RecentChanges. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 00:51, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Cheydinhal Recommendation[edit]

Hi Corevette789! I guess you were trying to revert an edit on Oblivion:Cheydinhal Recommendation, but instead you deleted a whole subsection which certainly doesn't qualify as either obvious or unnecessary. In order to revert someone's edit, bring up the history tab and select the undo button next to the edit you wish to revert. I hope this helps and correct me if my assumptions were mistaken. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 17:44, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm not completely sure what I had meant to do, as it was a while ago, but something has been going on with my computer that I have spoken to S'drassa about here and that might have been part of it.--Corevette789 02:37, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

Thank-you! I tried for weeks so you beat my time. I just hope the admins don't get all undo happy. You had my permission so it was fine to edit my personal page. (That was for the patrollers) ^_^ --Corevette789 01:28, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Haha, cool then^_^ i think its ok cos S'drassa helped me out with my userboxes Mor'tar'iit 01:58, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

You need permission to edit a userpage to prevent vandalism mostly but thanks again!--Corevette789 02:12, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Daedric Translation[edit]

First, thanks for the help. Second my end goal is to have all my characters translated (impossible right now since they aren't all up) but there are three that are the priority right now, Mhira, Random Chance, and Arna Mist, after that don't really worry about it just whenever you feel like working on it.--TheAlbinoOrc 20:06, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Internal/External links[edit]

Just thought I'd point out: when you're linking to an external site, as you do in your userbox, it's a little different than internal links. Where you typed [[http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=272084182391&ref=ts|here]] and it gives you [[1]], if you instead typed [http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=272084182391&ref=ts here] it would give you here. Just a little trick you learn with time (or someone telling you).  ;) Basically, for external links you use a single set of brackets instead of a double set, and you use a space after the URL instead of a "|" to add the display text of the link. Let me know if I can help with anything. --GKtalk2me 22:27, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, I couldn't figure that out so I just left it as a thumb. Actually, I was wondering if there was a VERY advanced template-type page I could look at?--Corevette789 01:23, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, if you want to learn more about linking, take a look to this page. It has very detailed info about how to link in different ways. --S'drassa T2M 01:27, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

It seems when I use [http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=272084182391&ref=ts here] My userbox just says info and all my text is deleted and I have to put more brackets (making it [[...]]) for the text to show up.--Corevette789 01:55, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

The problem isn't the link, it's the userbox. Try adding "info=" at the start of the pharse of your userbox, that should fix it, so you don't need to add double brackets. By the way, if you want to separate the header "Sandboxes" from the rest of the text you can use {{NewLine}}, {{NewLeft}} or {{NewRight}}. Oh and on the other hand:

Happy Birthday[edit]

Headers[edit]

Hi Corevette789. Thanks for all the welcomes you've been handing out and warnings you've been issuing. However, it would be beneficial if you add headers: == X ==, where X would stand for anything you would want the header to display. That way it's more clear what a certain post is about, not to mention it's easier to link to. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 22:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

Woops, I thought they were included (I was using the generic messages with slight modifications). I am familiar with headers and will begin to add them when I greet new users.--Corevette789 22:49, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Are you using this? If so, there's a field just above the edit box for the subject/headline. By the way; when you use that special field for the headline, the "="s aren't necessary. --GKtalk2me 22:55, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Yup I was using that one. Thanks for the tips and I'll be sure to do that next time.--Corevette789 23:05, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
And, as an extra note, what I do when warning an IP adress is to look at the contributions, there are usually two boxes on the bottom that can be used as a shortcut to warn a user (like this), instead of having to go to the page GK provided. This can work with registered accounts too, but it displays a welcoming box instead and only if the user has made at least a single contrib (like this) . --S'drassa T2M 23:27, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Again, that is what I use. I use the messages page for welcoming and I go to the IP's userpage to warn. Sometimes I go to the messages page for more complex warning templates because it is somewhat shorter than writing them out.--Corevette789 03:28, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Warning?[edit]

Errr, I did not "blank a section" of the article, I removed some duplicate text from it which someone had obviously cut and paste in error. Please review the edit which I made compared to the existing article. Thank you.— Unsigned comment by 98.239.144.166 (talk) on 19 February 2010

Yes, you're right but Corevette did the right thing. Whenever an IP adress removes a big chunk of text it is immeadiately detected as vandalism, that's the reason you got a warning. Now, as you have not done any kind of vandalism, feel free to remove the warning from your talk page but next time provide an edit summary please, especially when deleting a big chunk of text. --S'drassa T2M 19:29, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry for that, and like S'drassa said ANY deletion (other than your edits) should have a deletion summary included so things like this don't happen. Again, I am sorry for the warning, and thanks for informing me!--Corevette789 20:17, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Will you please be more hesitant when it comes to warnings? We do not warn for a simple blanking of a section, especially in a case like this. If they do blank something, revert it and use this message instead. If they continue to do it (outside of reason), then give them a warning. –Elliot talk 23:10, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually the blanking of a section is grounds for a warning and I made a mistake. Sorry for not seeing the duplicated text above.--Corevette789 23:15, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Actually, no, it's not. It says on the Messages page, "Be sure that the edit(s) qualify as vandalism. If there is any possibility that the edit was actually made in good faith, use a notice instead." There's even a specific notice for deletions and blankings. --GKtalk2me 23:19, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

I thought it was grounds for a warn as I've seen other users do the same thing before that is really where I learn most of my stuff so I will be more cautious and use the non-warning message in the future.--Corevette789 23:23, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
No harm done. It's a wiki, anything can be changed!  :) For future reference, it's usually best to look up policies and procedures yourself, rather than following the examples of others. Though we try to correct any mistakes we see, there are certainly some things that slip through the cracks. Once again, feel free to ask me if you have any questions. --GKtalk2me 23:27, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
I did a similar thing with a new user called Manic, he kept on blanking the page so I gave him an official warning. I'm gonna be more hesitant next time with these situations. --ModderElGrande 23:28, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Just curious about that note[edit]

He said "I think Ogre are stronger than minotaur lord. Mudcrabs own ogres." Or something along those lines, only the grammar would have been different (but equally as bad).

Yes I am aware I can still see things after they have been reverted. Deleting it was the right thing to do but the warning was too extreme, and remember when leaving a comment on a talk page please sign your name with 4 tildes ~~~~--Corevette789 01:23, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Fair enough.--Catmaniac66 01:37, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Edit Summaries[edit]

When reverting edits, even when it seems obvious to you that the edit should not have been made, please refrain from making comments like this one. Comments like that do not help the wiki in any way, and only serve to alienate editors. The editor in question, though they added info that's not really necessary, was not acting in bad faith and was actually trying to add something helpful, the way they saw it. Please try to be courteous, even in edit summaries. --GKtalk2me 02:55, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes I agree it was in good faith and the summary was too far. I will refrain from doing this in the furure and keep my personal life/emotions out of the wiki.--Corevette789 22:17, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

Edits[edit]

Why are you signing all of your edits in the template? –Elliot 05:59, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

I assume he's doing it because that's the way it's supposed to be done. See, for instance, Oblivion:Methredhel, Oblivion:Errandil, Oblivion:Branwen, etc. rpeh •TCE 06:18, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I believe it is supposed to be name (not signature) then the applicable note, no? –Elliot 06:20, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
From what I've seen, Elliot's right, though I don't see any major issues with a signature other than it may be a bit cluttering when looking at the changes instead of the text itself. To reduce that a little bit Corevette, you may want to sign the OBNPCRP templates with three tildes (just name) instead of four (name and time). Robin HoodTalk 07:53, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
I think it is a mess with the signature instead of just the name. Thanks for correcting it after this thread, Corevette! --Krusty 09:07, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Xbox blocks[edit]

"One link is enough" - yeah I agree now that you say it, good spot. I'll edit my older edits that are similar (about hostile Ashlanders). Anyway, my question is when you start to encounter problems regarding the file size on the Xbox. I play Morrowind on the 360, but I reckon it doesn't matter. How many blocks does your save have and have long/how much have you done in the game to "achieve" that size? What problems does it cause and at which point do they start to happen? Can I do the entire Main Quest, Fighters Guild, Redoran, Bloodmoon and Tribunal and Miscellanoues quests without necessarily reaching more than 300? Thanks in advance! SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 08:38, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Well my original Xbox is broken but I will check the size of it right now. I didn't think Morrowind worked on the 360 only the GOtY edition. I would love to replay everything on the Xbox instead of my computer.--Corevette789 19:28, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
My old yank has 548 blocks on Morrowind with 7 save games.--Corevette789 19:47, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah I meant the GOTY version. Ok, with 548 blocks, did you encounter any problems? And how much did you do on that save, entire main quest + guilds and stuff or just the main quest? SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 15:09, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
I'd really appreciate an answer, Corevette. SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 16:11, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the wait for the reply, I had more than one message at one time and overlooked yours. But on that system, no I haven't had any glitches/loading problems. I started playing on 360 recently and due to my scarred up disk I have been having loading and saving problems.--Corevette789 23:19, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks for replying :) SwedishBerzerker at youtube.com 16:08, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

ONPCRP Services[edit]

Please can you take care when editing NPC pages for the project? This edit says that Snak gra-Bura doesn't offer services. She doesn't offer standard services, but will outfit your horse with horse armor, and that counts. The project needs to document when she will offer that service and saying "None" isn't accurate. Most of your additions have been fine, but accuracy is more important than quantity. rpeh •TCE 00:32, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes I caught that after you reverted it. The strange part is I read the page before making an edit looking out for tweaks GK told me to do and I remember reading that section now. Sorry for that I'll be more vigilant from now on.--Corevette789 00:35, 21 March 2010 (UTC)
Can I just check that you are really testing this stuff in-game? This edit, for instance: did you actually test by asking Bantien for services at each stage of his schedule? This is important. There have been several instances found where the information on the page is not correct. The purpose of an in-game check is to spot such cases and highlight them so that the CS checker can investigate. rpeh •TCE 09:46, 24 March 2010 (UTC)
Like Rpeh, I would like to know exactly how you do the checking. Especially Imperial City trainers and merchants can be tricky because they tend to have complicated schedules, with several changes depending on weekdays. In fact, I’m not even sure it is possible to write the services “before” the schedules – and just copying the text from the summary is not enough. Thorough in-game research is very important. --Krusty 11:44, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
I am starting to check In-Game for everyone now waiting hour by hour. It works but it just takes a while. I am still on the project but some where the NPC only sells during a certain period, that is going to be more difficult.--Corevette789 23:01, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Belated thanks[edit]

Thanks for the cookie! Ironically I didn't notice it from the subsequent vandal edit and revert. -- Nx / talk 18:10, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

No problem! We shouldn't have this problem anymore now that Patrollers can block.--Corevette789 19:25, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Edit summaries[edit]

Hey, Corvette. I noticed your reverting this edit just now and had a minor points I wanted to push your way,

Firstly, your edit summary was, simply put, too dismissive. At least give a reason for assuming it was a glitch, either in the summary, or on the talk page (And link the talk page from the summary).

Seconldy, whilst this may have been a glitch, rather than just remove it you should move potential new content to the talk page for discussion and testing. I've done this now, so there's no need. Just a note for future edits :).

Other than that, carry on the good work! - GLT|C 20:49, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Disease Resistance[edit]

http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=Oblivion:Disease&curid=6442&diff=558198&oldid=558197

"A glitch"? Please. It's well documented for years now, on this very site, that Disease Resistance doesn't work.

I'm not going to get into a pointless undo/redo war, but the old version of the page is wrong and the new version is unquestionably right since 1.1.511. I understand that it's normal to just make knee-jerk reverts whenever an "old" page gets edited, but in this case you should read the discussion page first instead. - Ali

It's rare that you catch diseases as a vampire, and it certainly feels like it happens a lot less than when you're not. But "not often" isn't the same as "never", and in the absence of a Weakness effect, "never" is what it should be. For all we know, it's "secretly" limited to 85% or something, or it only happens if you're wearing armor, or it's the last Friday of the month. But we do know that 100% Resistance should work, and it doesn't (now). — Unsigned comment by 71.84.123.86 (talk) at 22:04 on 22 March 2010
Well I suggest bringing it up on the talk page for that article to see how many have been subject to this glitch.--Corevette789 14:04, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm not going to waste the time. Since you can't be bothered to read http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion_talk:Disease#Contracting_Diseases_as_a_vampire or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Resist_Disease or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion_talk:Resist_Disease already, I don't see any point in adding more pages for you to ignore. - Ali
I have read them and one was related to a mod and the other two have to do with Astral Vapors, it is common knowledge that this bypasses disease resistance.--Corevette789 23:05, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Corevette789,

I'm very new to UESP and quite keen to contribute but not sure how to go about doing this. I was wondering if you were able to show me the ropes, to make sure I don't stuff things up and find myself behaving like a complete twat.

My knowledge is extensive in Daggerfall and Morrowind. I'm slowly getting through Oblivion, Redguard and Arena.

Thanks Kindly

Welcome Back[edit]

Welcome back ! Hope you had a nice vacation !--TheAlbinoOrc 23:21, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! And I was still editing a good amount too, surprisingly the desert is boring.--Corevette789 23:22, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
You're welcome !--TheAlbinoOrc 23:44, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

sweet[edit]

Thats a lot of health on your guy, especially for you level. My 63 only has 810 ish. Kingbaby 02:32, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I don't remember exactly how I managed that I think it was a ton of enchantments--Corevette789 02:41, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Daedric Font Names[edit]

Thanks for providing the Font versions ! I think I'm going to stick to the Image versions though since it would be ridiculous for me to not be able to see them as Daedric Letters :D (and how many people have the Daedric Font installed ? With the Image versions everyone can see them)--TheAlbinoOrc 01:07, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

That's why I didn't remove the image versions. And I think its fun to mess around with the font on OpenOffice anyways. Its a free download File:Obliviontt.zip on the site itself.--Corevette789 01:11, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, I just wanted to thank you and provide information.--TheAlbinoOrc 01:14, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Grey-Throat's House[edit]

Hey Corevette, wanted to bring up an edit you made to ob:Grey-Throat's page for the OBNPCRP project. For NPC houses, we actually have to list the contents and layout of the house, such as GuildKnight's work here. We don't list their house in the project box. Just to let you know. -- Jplatinum16 20:48, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Aah I thought that would have been house contents. Oops sorry about that one, I need to read the description better next time.--Corevette789 22:32, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Table User Thing-a-majig[edit]

Hi! I was messing around with your user table and the results are on my page under Test, I just wanted to see if you were OK if I copy your table farthur with color changes and stuff like that. Thanks! --Arch-Mage MattTalk 20:37, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Ya sure, take what you want I don't actually own most of it, but what table exactly?--Corevette789 20:42, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Aah yes the whole layout, It is easy to copy/paste.--Corevette789 20:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I just didn't want you to stumble on to my page and see I partly copyed it (without you knowing, of course :p)--Arch-Mage MattTalk 20:56, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Its rpehs actually look at his userpage its the same thing with different colors--Corevette789 20:57, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
Edit Conflict: AMM So what are the "Unknown Subject" things about ?--TheAlbinoOrc 21:04, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't know what the subjects are going to be yet ;) BtB I changed it to a simpler setup. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 02:19, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

thanks[edit]

hi!i just wanted to say thanks for putting that link on my page...but don't worry about having to do it again(even though you probly wouldn't...)be cause i had a look at the page again and got it this time--GUM!!! 01:03, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

The thing is I just linked it to a disembaig page but it works just the same.--Corevette789 01:07, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

rvv?[edit]

hi!i see you puttinjg rvv all the time and would like to know what it means?thanks!--GUM!!! 00:27, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

rvv stands for revert vandalism. I use it for things that just don't belong in the article too, it isn't always vandalism that needs something like a warn.--Corevette789 00:33, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
As an aside, you may want avoid using that "rvv" as an edit summary when it isn't entirely accurate. For "things that just don't belong in the article", it makes more sense to see doesn't belong here or not related than rvv as an edit summary. The extra few seconds spent typing the edit summary is well-spent when it means we have accurate, easy-to-understand summaries. --GKtalk2me 04:12, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Happy Birthday![edit]

Let me be the first to say happy B-Day!--Arch-Mage MattTalk 19:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Thank you! I didn't even remember until I saw my fancy little userbox.--Corevette789 19:50, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Happy Birthday Corevette !!!--TheAlbinoOrc 20:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Happy birthday! --GKtalk2me 01:33, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, I thought I'd just said happy birthday to you a couple of months ago! Happy UESP birthday, anyway!  :) --GKtalk2me 02:10, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Happy Birthday from London! rpeh •TCE 17:07, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks everyone! It's been a great "year" (I haven't really been active that long)--Corevette789 19:27, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

Happy birthday. I hope that you enjoyed your cake. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 00:09, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Sneaking[edit]

I don't want to f*** anything up, but I think a hint is missing from the Sneak page. A fun way to gain Sneak experience is to chase deer while sneaking. At first, you might have to switch in and out of sneak quite a bit while chasing to keep up, but some where around Speed 60, you can pretty much keep up while sneaking. Kind of cool, random way to explore, too. is it worth adding to the page?68.7.12.5 20:44, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

I think this should go on the Talk page of Oblivion:Sneak for confirmation. If you unsure of an edit, you can always post it there and see what others have to say first.--Corevette789 20:49, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
