Book locations[edit]

I see you have added a few book locations on the ESO pages. Are you sure none of them are random appearances? We do not document random appearances, only fixed locations. Most bookshelves are generated randomly each time you enter a location, and documentation of random appearances might confuse more than it helps. —MortenOSlash (talk) 08:20, 11 May 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, I thought it might be useful to show that whilst they generate on bookshelves, its only within set areas - most books are locked to tier 1,2,3,4 or 5 alliance zones so a particular book will ONLY be found on bookshelves (randomly) say in Stonefalls/Auridon/Glenumbra, those being the tier 1 zones. At least that way, its better than leaving the location entirely blank and the reader having no clue at all about where they are found. UESP's own log data actually shows this very clearly, and in conjuction within other sources, its easier to realise that the bookshelves aren't *entirely* random. I am doing this with Console owners in mind, who have zero access to add-on's so are forced to rely entirely on outside sources. Also, the bookshelves seem to only contain books found in the Lore and Culture collections (mostly). Bonzodog (talk) 18:51, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
Personally I actually like your idea. If it is done in an informative way it could be very helpful. However, as it represents a kind of change in policy, I believe it might be wise to bring it up for discussion on the Community Portal. Changes in policy are done by forming consensus. —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:24, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
