Skill Tables[edit]

Thanks for tackling all of those skill tables, and filling in the extra info that I was too lazy to copy over ;) In case you're curious about what all those "display:none" bits are for... Take a table such as the one on Skyrim:One-handed. When you click either the Requirement column or the Perk column, the table sorts, and it always keeps all five rows of "Armsman" together (because of the rowspan=5). The problem, though, is that by default it sorts those five rows using the last row -- so without tweaking, it would sort them all under "100". I'm guessing readers will probably expect all five rows to be sorted under "20", though, so that Armsman stays at the top of the table. That's what the <span style="display:none">20</span> bit does. It means that the first number javascript sees in the cell is "20" instead of "100", therefore javascript sorts the cell under "20". It's only needed in the last row (not that it hurts to have it elsewhere) since that's the only one that matters to the sortable table code. Hopefully that explains things a bit! --NepheleTalk 02:45, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

I think I get it now. Thanks. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 02:56, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Standing Stones[edit]

Not sure about this kind of thing. I think we'll want proper pages for them given that they all have very different appearances unlike doomstones in OB. I'm not worrying about it for now though. rpeh •TCE 03:41, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure, but it really is to early to make any definitive decision. For now, I'll change the rest back to redirects. If we feel like we need them to be proper pages, it'll be easy enough to change in the future. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:45, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

How's my writing going[edit]

I am working on the Skyrim:Athis page and I'm wondering is this adding to the wiki or subtracting from it.----Candc4, Also known as the Man Inside the Sexy Leather Pants CT 03:29, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

It's better than nothing. Remember, many of the new articles are quite bare right now, no one is going to complain if your contributions don't match the quality we have for the articles in the other namespaces. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:37, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Revert[edit]

Just a reminder that revert should only be used in cases of clear vandalism. Those comments about dragon souls were clearly wrong, but should have been undone with an explanation rather than just reverted. I used to do the same kind of thing in the past. It's convenient, but shouldn't be done. rpeh •TCE 15:43, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

You mean my use of rollback on Skyrim:Dawnstar? Yeah, I'll try to use the normal undo button more often (though I only thought I rolled it back once, not sure when I did it the second time). Though I just want to say, the rollback button is addictive. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:48, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Radint system[edit]

Hey, I've seen a lot of info talking about Radint systm things as if its part of the quest or things, Like the sleepign giant in, someone thinks if you steal form there you will always be atacked by thugs So would it be worht making a whole page to what thigns the radeint system could do? like inhertaincs etc, i seachred and noen came uo

Convaying Information[edit]

I was just making sure that it's okay to reference my Official Game Guide, and add information from there. I hope it is. Paul118 05:06, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

As Help:Skyrim Content says, you can't use copyrighted information, such as the official game guide. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 05:34, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
I meant using the data provided, not actually the quest guides. Paul118 06:03, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
You should use data taken the game guide with caution, because it is not accurate. The game guide can be useful for confirming facts that you've found in other ways -- I regularly use it as one way to check information that I'm extracting from the game data. But it should not be used as the sole source of information. It was written based on pre-release versions of the game, and it went to press before the game was finished. Plus it inevitably will contain mistakes. The game itself is the only accurate source for information. --NepheleTalk 06:24, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Multiple Edits[edit]

Sorry about the multiple edits. I was working on a template, and the changes don't show up if I just click the "Show Preview" button. Chris3145 07:07, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

No harm done. It's just gotten a bit hard to manage. If you have to make a bunch of tiny edits, try checking the minor edit box so they can be ignored from recent changes. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:11, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Ugh[edit]

Thanks for fixing that category thing. I'm still not feeling well - that's my excuse! rpeh •TCE 08:15, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Letter Pics[edit]

I've been operating under the policy of omitting the letter pics from the lore pages and only having them on the Skyrim pages. Since the letters do not appear in the pre-existing lore from other games and the pics are subject to change in the future, it seemed the most prudent thing to do. Would you mind doing that for the sake of uniformity? Here's an example of what would be done for the "A" letter pic.

{{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACE}}|Skyrim|[[File:A_letter.png|72px|baseline]]|A}}

px could be 64 or 72, doesn't really matter. Minor Edits 01:22, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

I'd prefer to stay loyal to how the book appears in-game. If they change again, well, we'll think of a solution at that date. As of now though, there is no reason not to have them appear as they do in-game. The bigger problem with this would be if one of the returning books happens to use these drop caps (which would require the more creative solution that you proposed). Right now though, I'm just taking care of the red links, not working on the old books yet. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:32, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
I think Minor Edits is right. The lore versions should just have the text, and not include the pretty graphics. I know there are a couple of cases where we didn't do this for Oblivion, but the illuminated letters are far more common in Skyrim than the Fancy ones were in Oblivion so it's more important to be consistent from the start. rpeh •TCE 08:01, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
While I want to argue my point, we really don't have the time right now. I'll do it your way, ME, but I intend to bring this up again when things aren't so busy. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:24, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Fair Point[edit]

I'm glad you took the time to read my nomination. Just want to say I had to (finally) get the Mages Guild out the way before moving onto Skyrim. And that is what I intend to do. I know I haven't contributed much yet to Skyrim, but you can be sure I will start. It was clumsy of me to place it on the wrong page. That notice on my page I forgot to remove as I have been active for the past two weeks. The only thing I want to point out about activity is that many editors have been inactive for quite sometime. Sometimes you just can't dedicate your entire time to the site. Thanks for at least voting though, and believe me when I say I am set to contribute for Skyrim. --Manic 09:20, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

The topic is long dead[edit]

Excuse you but it's not like it was a forum thread from 2 months ago that I bumped back to the first page. Why did the comment need to be deleted? It's not like it was disruptive or anything anyway...Baron Praxis 18:39, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

There is no "first page" on the wiki; try the forums for that. AKB was doing you a favor by pointing out to you that your contribution was inappropriate. Your edits here will occasionally get revised or removed; that's a reality you're gonna have to live with. In both the forum and the wiki talk pages, we shouldn't comment on long-dead topics without some clearly explained and substantive reason to do so. And FYI, in both the forum and the wiki, politeness will take you a long way. Minor Edits 19:01, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
My apologies for the little attitude problem, it was a rough day. I'm well aware that there is no first page on a wiki, I was simply using an analogy. It just didn't seem like a big deal, just one small comment in the talk section of a map. Baron Praxis 17:22, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

lorename[edit]

Yeah, that was foolish of me. I loaded up the Skyrim page a while ago, before you created the lore page, so the link to the lore version was still red. I found the lore page which you had set up, assumed there was some sort of site hiccup, and added the lorename parameter to the Skyrim page without double-checking that it was necessary. Minor Edits 04:01, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

No problem. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:19, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Book footer help[edit]

I just made lore versions of Cicero's journals, and I'm trying to set up a book page. For some reason, the book footers are not staying off the page. I included "Skippage" for "Cicero's Journal" in all the footers, but it doesn't seem to be working. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? Do I need to drop the apostrophe or something? Minor Edits 07:48, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

The easiest solution would be to use noinclude. You'll have to set it up individually for each namespace, but I'd greatly prefer for book footers to be namespace unique. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:54, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, that did it. Minor Edits 08:06, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
No clue what's going on, and this isn't the best solution until someone actually standardizes the book footers, but I'll look into it. Weird that Skippage isn't working, it didn't work for Lore:Herbane's Bestiary either. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 08:07, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, I think something broke. None of the book pages that contain commas in them appear to be skipping over the footers. Examples Lore:Cap'n_Dugal's_Journal, and Lore:Herbane's_Bestiary. I can't find any others besides these two, both with commas in their names. According to the style guide, we shouldn't be using noincludes on the footers, but for some reason skippage won't work in these three cases. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 08:15, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

() The template is fine; it's the HTML coding and interpretation of the code that is screwing it up. You have to use the ASCII HTML entity code in order for the template to read it properly, just like we have to do for spaces in some templates. You can see the fix here. Hope this helps. elliot (talk) 23:19, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

That's fantastic, thanks Elliot. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:23, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Image upload help please[edit]

I'm trying to upload a new revision of SR-map-Abandoned_Prison.png but the new version isn't showing - the old one is. Tried twice, and I am definitely clicking the "upload a new version" link, so I'm at a loss as to how to do this. Feel free to completely remove the image and its history if that is what is required, then I can upload the new one. Thanks. Screwball 17:14, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Arrrgh - I had to refresh the page several times before the new image displayed :( Screwball 17:17, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
You have to purge the cache on all servers for map images to have their thumb sizes corrected. It's annoying, I know. That's not the problem with it, however. Map screenshots (screenshots of the in-game world map) are fairly useless. As we'll have our own map system (once the CK comes out, I believe?), all of these images will be entirely useless. While good instructions are alright, map screenshots (of the world map, local maps are okay and definitely desired) aren't very useful/will be entirely replaced soon enough. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:28, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I eventually worked out the "purge" bit. As for the images themselves, I asked explicitly about this 5 days ago http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Help_talk:Images but no-one bothered to reply. Had they done so I wouldn't have been wasting my time creating them. Screwball 17:38, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Multiple Radient Posts[edit]

Question[edit]

Hello. I was curious as to why the information I had left on the Hag'sEnd walkthru was changed--Twice!--and I was surprised to see a message sent by you informing me of this. I do appreciate your "helping" me, and thought that the main idea was for all of us "users" to contribute as well. Tho I may not be as skilled of an editor on the Wiki, I have been practicing my editing on some sandboxes and always was compelled to contribute to the community. I did a fair job of that on TES:Oblivion and wanted to further help everyone with what I found as well here on the UESP Wiki. I apologise if I am leaving this message in the wrong area,as I looked thru the page and couldn't find the exact spot to post my reply to you. On a side note, in defense of the posting I had left; curiously I was chagrined to notice that you had removed some of the useful information I had left for the other players and was wondering why? The information was omitted by the original poster (esp. the Bloodthorn being there and the notes on the Battle with the Hagraven. I didn't see any references to the Boss lvl chest, nor the ore veins. Perhaps in the future we could collaberate to a small degree, and I could have you as a mentor. I will not cease to aid the community, yet I would like to be able to contribute without feeling that my input was useless. Please feel free to write me directly; Email address removed, per request --Joseph --67.83.14.133 19:07, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure what's wrong. I messaged you to inform you that your attribution was inappropriate. Your edit was good, and helpful, it's just that you're not supposed to attribute your contributations on the article (see UESPWiki:Style Guide#Attribution and Dates). Also note that right above where you would place your edit summary is a message that clearly states: "Note that all contributions to UESPWiki may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors. ". Every user who can edit has permission to alter your content edits as they see fit. As for mentorship, while I'm humbled by the request, I think you should contact one of the actual mentors, as I'm not part of the program. Finally, if you intend to continue to contribute, please consider creating an account, for the reasons that are stated by the link. ---AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:37, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Removal of article talk page comments[edit]

Hi there. I'm a little new to the UESP, so I'd appreciate it if you could direct me to the guidelines for removing comments from an article's talk page, as per recent changes to Lore_talk:Fourth_Era. Thank you. Atr 03:21, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

I can't think of where exactly the policy is right now, but we treat old discussions as archives that simply haven't been archived yet (as there is little reason to archive them until the page is overly long). Our archive protection policy states that the only reason to edit an archived discussion is to perform maintenance. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:25, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, interesting. I just think it's a bit odd, that's all. I hope common sense is applied to each individual case, though, in case a discussion does develop. I'll keep it in mind for future when editing, however. Thanks for your reply. Atr 03:37, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Lymdrenn Tenvanni's Journal[edit]

Do you think Lymdrenn Tenvanni's Journal should have a lore page? I've look around a bit, and unless there's something in one of the Keyes novels I don't know about, I think this is the only source that gives a firm date on the Argonian invasion of Morrowind, as well as a better idea of when the Red Year occurred. Minor Edits 21:52, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Thought I already made a lore version of that one! Go ahead, definitely worthy of lore. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:16, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Main page[edit]

Does the display of the Skyrim main page seem off to you? When I view it the two box art pictures and info boxes are located in the centre with the writing below it. No edits have been made to it in a while. I just asked you because you're on the wiki right now. Thanks.RIM 22:28, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Wait never mind, the settings on my internet connection changed for some reason. Sorry to bother you:)RIM 22:33, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Blank edits[edit]

Hey, since you're on: when patrolling, what am I supposed to do with edits, like this one, which don't appear to change anything? I've never seen it before today, and now I've seen it twice. Minor Edits 03:41, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, these are annoying. I always assumed these were like double posting due to you hammering the "save page" button. Quite odd as in my experience you can't save an edit that doesn't change anything. Unless this is a more serious problem that I'm unaware of, I don't see the harm in just patrolling them alongside the actual edit however. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:45, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
Cool, thanks. Minor Edits 03:48, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Fixing the map?[edit]

Thanks for telling me, I knew something was off. I kept asking myself if I wanted to add those, but I did anyway to keep the map from looking too empty. As for the scale I used; I tried to get the most accurate possible size comparison between Tamriel and Nirn. First, due to lack of a better source, I got the circumference of Nirn from here: [1] It's on that other wiki... So I suppose it's somewhat reliable. And then I got this [2] for the scale of Tamriel. I hope that justifies the scale. We do sorta have an idea of the climate of Akavir, and the fact that it is smaller than Tamriel and 4200 miles away. The two islands that don't exist... well, shouldn't even be there in the first place..lol. And you know, I tried to be clear that some of this map is pure speculation of what might actually be, as we do have some information that can be used. Do you recommended I try to fix the map, or just give up on posting it here? Thanks! MGPlatinium 15:18, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

I wasn't saying that any mistakes you made tarnished the map, if anything, I'd blame the developers for not being specific enough. The worlds size and geographical shape constantly changes to suit the developers needs (such as when they created Solstheim). There is no standard even between the games.
The wikia site standards are clearly off by the way, if Nirn only has a land surface area of 150 miles, than the continent of Tamriel in Arena would cover the entire thing several times over, and even more so in Daggerfall, which paradoxically grew bigger than the entire continent in between games. As for the distance of Akavir, the only source I know of that states this distance would be one of the ones from the Imperial Library, though they don't make there source obvious, if they even had one in the first place.
While I would love a complete map, there just isn't enough information out there to try to create one without it being extraordinarily inaccurate. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:06, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Hmm... I think that the size they really mean it to be is the one from Daggerfall, which is huge. The three latest games that weren't randomly generated all seem to be scaled in order to make it more plausible to have them entirely put into the game. That's what I get. As for the wikia thing, it's 15,000 miles. I just noticed I forgot to convert miles to kilometers in my map. That means every landmass in my map is actually double the size it's meant to be. Joy >_>
But yeah, the map at least outside the area covered by Imperial-Library is wildly off, even though I tried remaining as close as I could to facts presented in lore books. But that's the fun of speculation I guess. I'll still try and keep improving the map, maybe some day, with enough info, it gets accurate enough to go on the page :]
thx, MGPlatinium 05:25, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Sanguine[edit]

If you will not allow me to delete such unneeded information (unneeded because it serves no purpose other than to add "an interesting tidbit"). Will you at least agree to allow me to change it to something that defines what "normal" is? Think about it this way, if I was a new, and had never before played and Elder Scrolls game. Wouldn't it be just a bit confusing to say "normal" voice without explaining what a "normal" voice entailed? Azure_King 02:41, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't think anyone forbade you from editing that page, especially not I. If you think you can describe what a normal voice is, go ahead. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 02:45, 11 January 2012 (UTC)

Edited your user page[edit]

Hey, I just did a minor edit on your userpage. Instead of displaying Skyrim, it was displaying Skyrim:Skyrim. I don't normally edit other people's user stuff, but I'm pretty sure it was a typo. ?• JATalk 05:20, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Creation Kit size[edit]

Where did you get the figure of 85MB from for the Skyrim Creation Kit? In my "Local Files" tab it shows only 40MB, and I'm pretty sure that's what it said in the download size as well, though I'd have to uninstall and reinstall to be absolutely sure. Robin Hoodtalk 20:26, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Oh, never mind, I just saw it on the talk page. Robin Hoodtalk 20:27, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

The Way of the Voice Quest Image[edit]

Hi. Please see Skyrim_talk:The_Way_of_the_Voice#Quest_Image if you haven't seen it. I have noticed the high quality of your images generally, and if you have an opinion on reverting what I did, and whether my image is good enough to even keep somewhere, I happily defer to it. If mine is "better" because it shows something "quest-specific," then I'm not sure what we should do with your image of the steps, which is great. --Jreynolds2Talk E-mail 03:34, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Yours is clearly the superior image. I have no problem with you replacing mine with it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:25, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
OK. What is the best way to make sure that your image has a place on the wiki? Do you have any ideas? Obviously, it can be added as an additional image on the quest, could have a place on the Ivarstead place page, or both. I am not sure whether to re-name your steps image and make a new file, or ...? Name it "...The Way01.jpg" ??? If you have a suggestion, I'll do it. If you want to do something, do it. Otherwise, I'll make my best guess. Thanks. --Jreynolds2Talk E-mail 04:47, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Your warning[edit]

Pardon me, good sir, but I've got a question for you. You left a message on "my" use page (actually a page at my IP address) warning me against vandalism. I love this wiki and I would never do anything to deface it. In fact, as far as I know, the only thing I've ever added to this wiki is a question I had about Ondolemar in Markarth on the talk page for Ondolemar. I'm not sure what "vandalism" I may have caused, but whatever it was, I'll apologize for it. But, as I said, I never did anything... So if you could, perhaps, point out what I did, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! 72.23.241.65 18:47, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Actually, the page where you warned me is here. That's not even my IP address, so why the wiki told me I had a new message and pointed me to that page is beyond me. 72.23.241.65 18:50, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for pointing this out. This warning was not directed towards you, and it was likely a caching error that caused you to view it. I've purged the cache for said page, and it should now be fixed (so no one else suffers from the same problem). I sincerely apologize if you were offended by the erroneous warning message. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:09, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

I saw someone else input the date before the name in the unsigned template, and thought the order was interchangeable. I now see that the unsigned template I was copying was actually a different unsigned template.

Comment Question[edit]

Has that user group officially been created? If so that is fine by me. Truth is that I prefer to edit than patrol. Most user spaces are well kept and rarely need patrolling, therefore it's not something I can really do to get my patrols up. It would be nice to be a rc patroller as there are actually a good amount of edits I can properly patrol. I respect what your saying AKB. If going into this new user group first before becoming a patroller is what is needed, then that's fine. --Manic 12:17, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

It's currently being discussed here. I'll be sure to put you forward as a candidate if it's made. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:57, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Thank you AKB, much appreciated. I personally support this idea as it will really cut down the amount of low quality edits being missed from being patrolled. Who gets the final say on whether the group can be made? cheers. --Manic 19:05, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
It would need consensus from the community, which it appears to have as of now. It'll most likely be made in a week or so by Nephele, giving everyone a chance to say their piece about it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:06, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Ok thats fine. Just to say as well, I was disappointed to be turned down for the recent changes patroller status, but to be honest it was for the better for the moment. I have put a lot of work into the site, but recently I have struggled to find time to contribute due to various issues cropping up, however I should soon be able to contribute more often. So just to say sorry, if I came across like I was blaming you or anything like that. Just to clear that up. Thanks. --Manic 19:48, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
For some reason that was on my recent changes list and the dates weren't there :s. It's corrected now. --Manic 19:34, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Image Request[edit]

Hey AKB! I was wondering if you could take two snapshots for me? They should be pretty ‘easy’ although I could be wrong… In this sandbox my wip on Grelod the Kind can be found, and I desperately need an image (or two) to support it. The most important one is an image of the speech Grelod makes when you enter the orphanage for the first time. Some shot of her facing the camera, with all four children visible. The second shot is not really important, but would be great for the layout; at 3pm, Grelod and Constance will sit down and have dinner together. I’d like a shot of them (preferably opposite each other) for use in the section at the very bottom of the page. Hope you can find the time – and thanks in advance. --Krusty 22:59, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

I took File:SR-npc-Constance Michel_02.jpg and File:SR-npc-Grelod the Kind 02.jpg to fulfill your request. The second one is pulled back quite a bit to get all of the NPCs into the shot (Bethesda really has a tendency to keep NPCs far apart in scripted scenes), so I'm not sure how good it'll look as a thumb. I'm willing to do reshoots, though I'm not sure it can be improved much to due the actors being as spread out as they are. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 00:05, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
They're both perfect, and they're not even manipulated. :) I took a look at the 'lecture' before writing the request and realized that they were not exactly crowding near the old hag. You found the very best spot and even managed to get Constance in. Thank you so much! --Krusty 05:21, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

() Can I request a photo for each of the Dragon Lairs before the Dragons arrive. Some are not different, Ancient's Ascent is guarded by two animals, while others, Dragontooth Crater have an entire Forsworn camp occupying them and the wall has a different appearance. Thanks. The Silencer has spoken 01:01, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

That would be hard to determine, since it isn't clear when most of them were shot. While I would say a good number of them could use a new image, only a few would need a before and after shot. I'll get on this, eventually. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:17, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Everflowing Ewer Lore Page[edit]

Hey AKB. I have just started writing up the Lore page for the Everflowing Ewer and I recall that you are quite active in this space, so I was wondering if you could offer me some advice for the article as it is the first lore one I have tackled. See here. Thanks. --Manic 18:56, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

When it comes to Lore articles, it usually helps to copy the style of a lore article on a similar subject. Take as an example the article on the Staff of Sheogorath or the one on Umbra. Besides the main body of text, the most important things on this article are the image gallery and a list of references. For the gallery, you don't really have much to go on. You essentially only have File:OB-quest-Tears of the Savior.jpg as an available image. Though I guess an additional image of the tears would be useful(a product of the artifact, so they would belong. See Lore:Azura's Star and note the inclusion of The Black Star), we currently do not have one on the site, as far as I'm aware.
More importantly, you'll also need references. See Help:References for the technical information relating to references. More specifically, you can reference Lore:Knightfall, the events that take place in Oblivion relating to the artifact, and dialogue relating to the artifact from Oblivion. That gives you the book, the quest Tears of the Savior, and S'drassa and Julienne Fanis (which, conveniently, you worked on the articles for both NPCs) as sources of information relating to the artifact.
As a final note, I remember Legoless wishing to revamp the lore pages relating to artifacts, or something like that. You may wish to contact him about what he intends to do. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:18, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
AKB's advice is spot-on. Just copy the layout of the existing artifact pages and you're good to go. When you're finished, let me know and I'll try to give the article a once-over. See UESPWiki:Lore for more general guidelines about working in lorespace. --Legoless 20:03, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Dremora[edit]

Since the page is a Redirect, are we screwing anything by turning it into an article? —SkoomaManiac TalkContribs 03:33, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Nah, it'll be automatically removed from the lists/categories of redirects. It's all very seamless and zen. 'Bout time we had a proper dremora article, too. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 03:35, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
It only linked to the Dremora section in the bestiary. It is quite obviously much more useful to have an article in its place, as you can't detail all of the information relating to the race without a proper article. It was briefly discussed here, and I fully support his reasoning. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:37, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Gauldur Blackbow[edit]

I just noticed your edit summary in this edit about the value of reach information being questionable since it's a bow, and I had a thought... you can block or bash with a bow, so reach would actually be relevant, wouldn't it? ABCface 03:30, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Maybe, but I'm not entirely sure what Reach does. More information about game data is required. In the mean time, I'll add it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:43, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Hmm, I guess I just assumed the block/bash would be affected by Reach, but I don't actually know what it does either, so I guess the relevance really is questionable. Oh well, if it doesn't actually affect anything for the bow, it can always be removed later. ABCface 03:56, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

OB:Amulet of Kings revamp[edit]

Hey, AKB. Krusty recommended you to me in the IRC. I was wondering if you have the OB CS and could find all the details on the Amulet of Kings. I am revamping the the page to make it more consistent with other artifacts, since it appears to be a direct copy of the Lore page. If you can grab me the data, could you please add it to the stats table on my sandbox, and if you can't, would you happen to know someone I could go to for this information? Thanks :) Eric Snowmane(talkemail) 05:57, 28 September 2012 (GMT)

Done. Interesting fact, the Amulet of Kings can be worn by literally anyone but the player character. The script that prevents it from being equipped only effects you and you alone. Considering the lore explanation being that only those of the Septim blood can wear it, this just shows you they got around quite a bit. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 10:13, 28 September 2012 (GMT)
Update due to me doing this after waking up ten minutes ago: The only detail you were really missing as far as data went was that note on the Amulet being wearable by anyone but you. The exact scripting data being:

scn AmuletofKingsSCRIPT

ref tempRef

begin OnEquip player

MessageBox "The Amulet of Kings slips off as you try to fasten it around your neck."

set tempRef to GetContainer

tempRef.unequipitem AmuletofKings 1

end

Besides this. I'm not entirely sure what else you want. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 10:23, 28 September 2012 (GMT)
I meant stats and stuff, in case there was something more important than the value and weight from CSList. Just wanted verification since it's been known to be outdated. Thanks a lot for doing it. :) Eric Snowmane(talkemail) 20:35, 28 September 2012 (GMT)

Black Book questions[edit]

First, are those entries complete? Some of them seem to cut off in mid-sentence.

Second, if they are complete, are they lore-worthy in your opinion? They're definitely lore-oriented, but seem very short.

Third, if lore-worthy, and those entries are complete, how should we organize them? Separate lore pages for each with one "Black Book" umbrella page for all of them, or just one "Black Book" lore page with all entries? I'd assume the former ...

Fourth, if they are lore-worthy, and they each deserve individual pages, what would we title them? For example, "Black Book: Epistolary Acumen", or simply "Epistolary Acumen"? Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 22:05, 4 December 2012 (GMT)

They are complete, they just randomly cut off for an inexplicable reason. I don't think they're lore worthy without further information (I don't know what they're for, but they're clearly in the game). If they are worth adding to lore, we would choose the former option. And all the books have the prefix "Black Book" in the title, so I'd include that. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 22:07, 4 December 2012 (GMT)
Indeed, context is important. We'll see, I suppose. I'm obviously moving at a snail's pace due to editing as I play and there are actually a ton of other things I should be doing. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 22:09, 4 December 2012 (GMT)
I went ahead and made the pages, as I got support for their creation in IRC and I was away from my xbox tonight and really, really bored. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 07:22, 6 December 2012 (GMT)

Unbound[edit]

Hi AKB. It's probably impossible for you to have missed the fact, but I'm working on a major revamp of Unbound. It looks like you did a lot of the initial work on it, so please let me know if you have any feedback on the direction I'm going here. Acutally, I have not completely checked the existing page for things I might have left out or that were better worded earlier, because I wanted to take a fresh look at it, but I hope I'm getting close to moving the fist part of this onto the article page (up to entering the keep). Thanks. --JR (talk) 07:20, 6 December 2012 (GMT)

You're holding the player's hand a bit too much. That's somewhat excusable since it's a tutorial quest, but you go a too far. Like with you pointing out that if you stand in fire to long, you will be hurt badly. For a more specific gripe, I'm not sure about the mention of the journal being updated, despite your hands being bound. The journal isn't a real object as far as I'm aware (personally, I always imagined it as a mental notebook, except in Morrowind when it was quite clearly an actual book (you even wrote down events in the order they occurred, not in relation to whatever quest the update had to do with)), so there isn't any need to mention it being updated despite your limitations.
However, I do like the direction you're taking it. It would be better for us to go into detail with everything here since pretty much everything in this quest will happen exactly one way (except for choices, which are easily explained regardless) and it's a mandatory and the first quest in the game. If we're going to go into extreme detail about how to play the game, it would be for this exact quest. I also particularly like the series of images highlighting an event, like Alduin landing. It stands out and is the best way we can imply motion in a scene without video. Good work so far, all around.--AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:59, 6 December 2012 (GMT)
Thanks. It's very helpful perspective, so I'm glad I asked. Level of detail is a difficult problem for me, especially on quest pages where I suppose a lot of users turn as a quick reference while they wish to keep their focus on the game. I think lengthy walkthroughs with dense paragraphs and section headers that are cute or clever instead of informative (helping me quickly find a section of the quest) would repel me if I was focused on the game and not on the wiki. I think I might actually go to another resource if I could find one that was consistently useful but not overwrought. I was really turned off the first time I saw a quest walkthrough peppered with dialogue and telling a full story. Yet I've personally never thought that the quick walkthroughs are a walkthrough at all, and I can't conceptualize who would use them for what purpose. I wish we had a "regular" walkthrough instead of a "quick" one, followed by a "detailed" one that can tell the entire story of a quest and serve as a reference for those players who care, for example, if they missed a line of dialogue someone spoke, who want to understand the story as deeply as possible and place it in context, who want to understand the most minute consequences of every decision, or who love to play the game slowly and relish taking in every nuance.
So, I'm trying to figure out how to reconcile what seems to be expected on these pages by the community along with what I think would most satisfy users. And feedback like yours helps me do that. I assume you are watching the quest page and that you can make changes later or give me more feedback. My idea with the fire was to find a way to say that the game is protecting you from injury to a great extent here, but you can still lose health and even die; but you either practically have to try to die or you might die if you are totally new to the game and stay exposed (e.g., to Alduin's attacks) because you're lost or paralyzed while trying to get your bearings. Hehe, but saying not to stand on a fire is not the best way to accomplish that! --JR (talk) 04:25, 7 December 2012 (GMT)

About this change[edit]

Well, I've noticed this change [[3]]. I'm not sure how did you check it in the game. For myself, I was playing hide-and-seek with my child in Whiterun. During the game, I can open the interface of alchemy, however it will soon disappear. I've tired many times until the quest(hide-and-seek) was completed, then I could use it normally. This is why I made that change. Thanks for your attention. Dreamshadow (talk) 15:43, 23 March 2013 (GMT)

It sounds like an isolated issue possibly caused by a mod you have. The Alchemy Lab in Breezehome is replaced by the child's bedroom, so I'm not sure it's an actual error with the game but more one with your version of it (unless you're going to a different alchemy lab in Whiterun, my mistake then). To test this, I simply went to my home (Lakeview Manor) asked my kid to play both games, and tested to see if I could use the interface. Both times I successfully was able to use both the Enchanting and Alchemy Table. If you have any mods that might be messing with your game, try disabling them. Otherwise, I don't know what the issue might be. I'll also move your bug to the talk page for further comments. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:57, 23 March 2013 (GMT)
Thank you very much. I've updated the talk page. That may be the final answer.Dreamshadow (talk) 23:51, 23 March 2013 (GMT)

Personal Attack[edit]

Hi AKB, as you're already involved in this discussion, and as you have already made the comment in it that "I would like to remind all editors that personal attacks aren't tolerated, and will only lead to further issues in resolving this otherwise simple topic. We can discuss this topic civilly, or not at all", I would like to bring your attention to this remark by Elakyn, "Daric, I've met many people who were stubborn and close-minded, to the point of being annoying, but you rank high among them." This seems to be a personal attack against me, and I would ask that you step in, as an administrator. Thanks. Daric 11:17, 17 April 2013 (GMT)

I've dealt with it in the manner I thought best as I could easily attribute this behavior to multiple users in that topic. Daric, I would personally ask that you avoid that topic at this point. I do not see how any further contributions from you there will make any progress towards achieving your goal. I respect your determination, but the time to call it quits has long since past. Continuing on will only lead to more issues. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:02, 17 April 2013 (GMT)
I'm disappointed that you didn't remove the offending comment that I specifically complained about. And I was right, I AM being told to butt out of that conversation. So much for democratic "consensus" and reasoned, logical debate. I see Jak has finally understood what I've been trying to say all along, that it is the codifying of a flawed argument into a set of guidelines that I'm opposing. Perhaps if I had been allowed to continue in that discussion, I may have opened the eyes of others as well, that the path being followed is doomed to failure. But I will just have to say that I tried, and then I'll stick around on the UESP wiki long enough to be able to say "I told you so" one day in the future. Daric 19:41, 17 April 2013 (GMT)
I don't like removing comments after people have replied to them as it makes the conversation look nonsensical. I hope that you enjoy your future chance to rub it in our faces when you are surely proven to be correct at a later date. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:44, 17 April 2013 (GMT)
Yeah, I specifically didn't respond to that insulting remark in the discussion thread for that very reason. Daric 20:00, 17 April 2013 (GMT)
I am absolutely tired of arguing about this, so any comments after this will be removed from this page (which, to preemptively avoiding a comment about that, a user is allowed to remove any comment from their user talk page as long as it's not an official notice). You clearly responded to Elakyn's comment in this edit. While site policy allows the removal of comments if they violate site etiquette, it is kind of impossible without the page being completely confusing after several replies are made to it. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:13, 17 April 2013 (GMT)

Question About Removed Discussion Page[edit]

The page removed was not created nor modified by me. However, since yours was the name on the removal of the Discussion page regarding the ship, The Marie Elena, I decided I would present my issue to you, and am doing so here - rather than e-mailing you - to keep from invading your private realm. If you would rather I handle things like this differently, please let me know.

Anyway, here it is...I was puzzled at one point as to why my "Items Stolen" should number 42, not having stolen anything save two black soul gems required for a Mage's Guild quest. After investigating a few possibilities, I discovered that I had inadvertently added to my "Items Stolen" by pilfering from the Marie Elena after I disposed of the maleficent harpy to whom ownership of the...ship (sorry) was ascribed. Since those items don't have the red-hand flag, I didn't see why they would register as having been stolen by me.

I came to the UESPWiki to see if this issue was addressed, and although I found mention of the fact that items on The Marie Elena aren't considered owned by anyone and thus would not count as stolen should you remove them, there was nothing about the situation I experienced. My intent was to mention that situation on the Discussion page, but found that the page does not exist. It had existed, but was removed due to having been created for an inappropriate reason. As you are the one who removed the Discussion page, I decided it would be best to ask you about how to proceed. I want to address my issue, but I don't know if creating a Discussion page would create a new one, or re-establish the previous Discussion page that has been removed (which I certainly do not want to do).

Please, forgive my loquaciousness, and for asking my question here - and/or of you - if doing so is inappropriate. I am new, not just here but to Wikis in general. Not an excuse, just an explanation. :) Thank you for your help. Bastwren (talk) 19:41, 5 May 2013 (GMT)

Hi Bastwren. It's perfectly alright to ask a user a question on their user page, you don't have anything to be apologize for. There isn't any issue with recreating a previously deleted talk page (unless you're recreating it for the reason it was deleted). Simply clicking on the red link and saving the page after adding what you want to say will create it, sans the content from deleted version.
