Arrilyn is an altmer born to single-mother Celralaure, who was a chapel healer in Bruma. However Celralaure mysteriously disappeared shortly after Arrilyn's birth leaving him in the hands of various chapel priests. Once Arrilyn had come of age he joined the Bruma mages guild as an associate, eventually venturing all across Cyrodiil to various guild halls in order to gain the necessary recommendations required to gain access to the Arcane University. Arrilyn excelled himself as a fine Mage and impressed both council member Raminus Polus and Arch-Mage Traven himself who soon began giving him tasks of which no standard mages guild member would be permitted to do. Due to the severity of these tasks and how well Arillyn performed them, he is often considered or referred to as the 'coffin of necromancy' or 'the assassin of the worm'.

Shortly after being falsely accused of murdering the arch Mage and being arrested, Arrilyn escaped from the Imperial Prison by a chance of luck. Whilst the Emporer was fleeing the Imperial City, the Blades guided him through Arillyn's cell to a secret passage. The Emporer requested that Arillyn follow them through the escape route as Uriel knew he was going to die and that Arillyn was needed to give the amulet of kings to Jauffee, grandmaster of the blades. After closing several oblivion gates and saving many cities, he has been given many titles including 'Hero of Kvatch' and 'The Savior of Bruma'. Baurus, a blade whi accompanied him through his escape and helped him progress in tracking down the emporer's assassins, has been slain in the Bruma battlefield whilst he retrieved a grand sigil stone from within the great gate. This angered Arriliyn and so he took Baurus' blade into Mankar Camoran's paradise with him and used to slay Camoran, despite being an extremely powerful Mage and knowing spells of which would kill Camoran instantly.

Arrilyn soon reverted to his chapel dwelling ways after being arrested for stealing an exceedingly large amount of gold from Chancellor Ocato himself. He took a pilgrimage to each of the divine wayshrines in order to seek forgiveness for his crime where he received a vision from Pelinal Whitestrake. He then began a long quest in search of the 'Crusader's Relics' and in the process restoring the former 'Knights of the Nine'. Arrilyn defeated a great foe of the Nine Divines and has since been blessed by Tiber Septim himself. He often resides at the Priory of the Nine whilst on his travels throughout the wilderness or if he recovers an artefact he believes should be safe guarded.
