Organisation[edit]

Per the wikify tag at the top of this article, I thought to myself a good place to get stuck into helping this wiki would be to try to organise this article. As it was before my edit it was informative, for the most part, but now I've cleaned it up, at least a little. I've tried to categorise the bugs by type - "graphics", "map", for example, as you'll notice, and I've also tried to break down each bug into a coherent symptom / description / fix format - though some bugs need a little more information, and I didn't get all the way through editing.

If anyone has feed back, feel free to drop me a note, either here or on my talk page. Glenmorial 01:43, 16 May 2009 (EDT)

Skills releated bugs[edit]

Bug summary:[edit]

Let's have a skill X = 100. Let's have that skill fortified with ability fortify SKILL + 20 for example. Now 120/120. Let's read a skill book, with our SKILL skill increment. There is bug, the SKILL 120/120 is now a strange 120/100. Now after our fortify SKILL ability is gone, we have 100/80. Which is indeed far above strange. Now you can use Fury for example, which could reset some of your skills to normal by draining it (common bug fortify + drain - fortify - drain = damaged), or you can now train your skill up to 120/100 once again.

Retraceable steps[edit]

Heavy armor is not calculated correctly when: you have havy armor = 100 AND you subsequently became a vampire quarra. You now have heavy armor = 120. Read a heavy armor skill book to recieve skill increment message. By now there is already one bug: the heavy armor is at 120/100 instead of 120/120. It is also hihglighted, making it a sign of fortify instead of ability. Next get cured and observe to have heavy armor at 100/80 because I had 100 highlighted and got trained it above 114 still highlighted. Possible fix (removes highlight): console command set or Fury sword. Note that this bug is releated to all skills, fortified with abilities under same circuministances. Blunt weapon is the same, athletics is the same, sneak is the same, ...

Dagger[edit]

When I take the first dagger in the game, when creating the character, the computer is restarted. Is that normal? --88.22.228.174 11:30, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Definitely not normal. Try re-installing the game, or installing Tribunal or Bloodmoon if you have them. If you're on PC, make sure all your component dirvers are up to date, or turn down all the visual settings. -Itachi 15:07, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

I've turned down the visual settings and now it's perfect, thanks. I'm playing on an old XP, but I have a windows vista. There would be any problem if I play on it?--79.155.118.163 08:48, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

You mean you have another computer with Windows Vista on it? Since that means that computer is fast enough to support Windows Vista I think you won't have problems running Morrowind on it, even on higher visual settings. --Timenn-<talk> 09:59, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

getflee CTD[edit]

I was testing the effect of intimidate on flee levels (specifically using the female argonian slave inside the cavern near the seyda neen silt strider) by boosting my speechcraft to 100 with player->setspeechcraft 100, using getflee on my test subject, intimidating them until a success then using getflee again, tried twice, CTD both times on the second getflee. anyone else notice this? 86.147.74.18 01:21, 21 September 2013 (GMT)

update, was being stupid, conditions do not matter, problem was in using getflee with no target in the console, I was clicking the argonian again to select her while she was already selected... this made the getflee call have no target, thus CTD 86.147.74.18 01:27, 21 September 2013 (GMT)

Character permanently paralysed[edit]

I've gotten to the point in the main quest where the Ashkhan of the Urshilaku ashlanders sends you out to Kogoruhn to collect three items... Anyway, I was fighting I think Dagoth Gares (an ascended sleeper) in one of the bulidings, and he paralysed me. My chraracter stayed paralysed, even when the effect wore off. I think I may have turned on god mode and it might have affected the save? my last one before then was an autosave ages back.. I tried to resurrect my character, but he just stayed on the ground. Next I disabled Dagoth Gares and rested.. still paralysed. Next I used fixme and tcl, neither of which worked. I tried to coc to a different place, also didn't work. I can't equip new weapons either because I'm apparently in the middle of an attack. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm playing the GOTY edition, with Tribunal and Bloodmoon installed but not activated, on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop.

Save Games Not Loading[edit]

I am playing a heavily modded version of Morrowind, and my game crashes as soon as I load any save game. I have tried removing mods, but this does not seem to help the problem. I was wondering if anyone else has had this same bug. 173.74.237.95 14:24, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Needs para. on patching projects[edit]

This would greatly benefit from a short section on patching projects, wikilinked to the articles on both MCP and CPP. The site has resources on this, but they are not mentioned here which is confusing. Would just fix this myself, but have to run. May do it later. — Darklocq  ¢ 02:34, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Using any change weapon key when all your weapons are broken crashes the game[edit]

If your weapons are all broken and you're down to your fists, using the change weapon key will crash the game.

Not Saving Error[edit]

So my game starting giving errors while saving. Something about the temp file not being able to rename. I tried several different names unsuccessfully, then looked for the save folder. It was in C:\Users\brf\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Saves\ and there were 505 files in there. I moved most of them to a different folder, and then it was able to save successfully. Brf (talk) 03:51, 22 September 2023 (UTC)
