Oblivion Merchants[edit]

For the time being, I've treated all Oblivion merchants the same way, and I've tried to convert specific lists of what they sold into more generic descriptions of what role they fill, like we've done with Skyrim. We may want to split those out to have more specific handling later, but for now, there seemed to be no particular reason to do so. We may even ultimately decide that this isn't the way to go for Oblivion and that we should go back to listing items sold rather than roles, but for now, I think the most important thing is to get the numerous inconsistencies of the current icons converted over to the template. After that, if we don't like how something works, it'll be a lot easier to make any required changes. Robin Hoodtalk 18:30, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Problem with an icon[edit]

The Oblivion:Spell_Merchants page cannot currently load an alchemy icon (I think), anyway there's a problem and I think it comes from here. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 15:43, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

It was the two cases that don't sell Alchemy stuff. They were marked with "Alchemy*" as service type by the bot. I changed it to "Alchemy" with a tweaked hover text on the Oblivion page for now - not sure what the intention was. --Alfwyn (talk) 16:44, 27 October 2012 (GMT)
Hard to remember at this point what I was thinking, but clearly at the time, I'd intended to do that as it's clearly coded that way...it's not just an accident or anything. I'm guessing I'd meant to go back and add a note and adjust the template afterwards but forgot that I needed to do so. Thanks for fixing it, Alfwyn! Robin Hoodtalk 19:16, 27 October 2012 (GMT)

Hand to Hand[edit]

I need someone who is proficient with templates to take care of a minor issue for me. This template seems to call for the File:OB-icon-skill-HandtoHand.png icon, which redirects to File:OB-icon-skill-HandToHand.png. Can we skip the redirect part and then get rid of the redirect? --Nocte|Chat|Look 04:18, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

We could, but honestly, I think the redirect is the simplest way to go here. We used to have special coding for Hand to Hand, and it was "inelegant", as I once put it. A redirect is probably less load on the server than the template changes would be for something like this. Robin Hood  (talk) 04:24, 31 July 2013 (GMT)
Coming back at this two years later, I've changed my mind on this issue, since it populates Special:WantedFiles unnecessarily. Robin Hood  (talk) 04:36, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Online navigator destinations[edit]

For the online Boatswain/Caravaner/Navigator/Travel icons, is there any way to set a parameter that allows for the destination parentheses to be excluded? I've noticed that when people are displayed in the standard three-column format, because there are no destinations set (they wouldn't fit, for one), the parentheses are just printed without anything there. I'd look into it myself, but I haven't learned how to write/edit templates yet.

Feedback, even "if you care so much, do it yourself", would be much appreciated! gelza1Talk Cont 21:14, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

Forgot to add an example—the Docks section of Vulkhel Guard and Davon's Watch illustrate what I'm talking about pretty well. gelza1Talk Cont 21:20, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
It's possible to change it yes, but I specifically designed it like that so that the destinations would always be added. --Enodoc (talk) 21:59, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
