Walls Vanishing[edit]

When I walked into the cell for the first time, almost all of the walls abruptly vanished. At first I thought it was some sort of story effect, but when I looked around, I could still see windows floating in space and the walls were still there, just invisible. Fired arrows into the walls and tried to walk into them. All signs point to them being there, but invisible for some ungodly reason. Possible HUGE bug? — Unsigned comment by 99.6.27.138 (talk) at 18:26 on 23 October 2012‎

It sounds like a generic physics glitch which could happen anywhere, rather than something specific to this location. Reloading a previous save before visiting will likely fix the issue for you. — ABCface 18:42, 23 October 2012 (GMT)
Which it did, when I thought to do so myself just seconds before I checked this article. I figured it out on my own, but thanks anyway. — Unsigned comment by 99.6.27.138 (talk) at 18:47 on 23 October 2012‎

() I have played through the quest on both sides with two different characters and it has never had walls for me. I never even knew it was supposed to have walls until I saw a lets play video. If its a glitch, it's been a constant and persistent one. Could it have something to do with the Hd texture pack?— Unsigned comment by 76.217.156.97 (talk) at 19:55 on 24 February 2013

Is that texture pack the one from Bethesda? And if so, do you have the most updated version? They recently released an update to that texture pack which was supposed to solve several issues. (If it's not from Bethesda, and is instead a third party mod, you could try removing it and starting a new game then going to the same location to see if the problem still occurs.) — ABCface 03:45, 25 February 2013 (GMT)

How to enter the Courtyard after finishing main quest in Dawnguard?[edit]

Does any one knows how to access the courtyard after finishing Kindred Judgment from Dawnguard side?

After defeating Harkon, Valerica can be brought back from the Soul Cairn and she says she will replant her garden in the courtyard.

The text says 'After you finish Kindred Judgement you can repair this passage by talking to Garan Marethi, the repair is completed free of charge the next time you enter the castle.' Apparently, this is not possible if the player join the Dawnguard at the beginning so the entrance will not be repaired.

So, is it only possible to enter the courtyard again from Volkihar Undercroft? — Unsigned comment by 150.203.242.44 (talk) at 11:42 on 19 November 2012‎

Yeah, for those playing on the Dawnguard side, you'll have to go through the Undercroft to get there after completing Kindred Judgment. I'll update that note to mention it's only possible for those playing on the vampire side. — ABCface 15:31, 19 November 2012 (GMT)

For those on PC you can use the console to remove the rubble if you are Dawnguard or Garan Marethi has glitched on removing it (I suggest wainting 24 hours of in-game time after asking Garan to remove it before using this). In the console type:

prid xx00f5e9 (the xx being the load order of Dawnguard)
disable

That will deactivate the two X markers that control the rubble in the Castle Hall and the Courtyard allowing the doors to be used. --Anubis Priest (talk) 21:58, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

No animals in the courtyard?[edit]

I had Bran, the Dawnguard dog, with me and he wouldn't enter the courtyard. Nor would he appear in either tower or the ruins. Anyone else have this? — Unsigned comment by SodiumHyena (talkcontribs) at 02:11 on 4 June 2013

Nightshade[edit]

How are there 17 night shades? Looks like you get three samples. Maybe 17 "flowers" but that's isn't how any of the others are classified. Each little three flower death bell patch gives one sample and it says 3 for here correctly for 3 patches. It also says 17 in the nightshade page. I have the entrance repaired and seranas mom is back in her study. Can someone confirm this? There is 17 in the garden part? That wouldn't even fit.. 71.68.41.99 23:24, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

In the Creation Kit, there are 17 nightshade plants, however 5 of them are at the bottom of the map, beneath the ground, and completely inaccessible. Quickly jumping to the courtyard in the real game, I counted 9 accessible, harvestable plants (all in the same garden, so if you found one, all the rest are nearby). That still leaves 3 unaccounted for, which I'll look into a little later. There's also a glitch in the game where flowers in certain areas will never respawn, or only rarely, even if you stay away for a long time. I frequently run into this problem going into the Thieves Guild; the courtyard might be the same. Robin Hood  (talk) 00:30, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
Problem solved...we're both right. Before Valerica moves back into the garden, there are 9 nightshade. Afterwards, there are 3. As previously noted, the other 5 are inaccessible. After I look up what all else is affected, I'll make the appropriate corrections to the page. Robin Hood  (talk) 02:26, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
I've updated all the numbers. I double-checked in-game and they all match now. The hanging moss is particularly difficult to find, since some of them are hanging in the middle of tree branches, but they're all there. Robin Hood  (talk) 03:31, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
