Extra Chests[edit]

I just used the Become Ethereal shout to swim through the lava in the back of the forge room, and there are two gates at the left and right of the pool. They can be opened and each lead to a hallway containing a treasure chest. The hallways lead up and back to the main forge room. Should this be mentioned on the page?--Kolensk 00:18, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

I also just found another chest in the back of the pool.--Kolensk 00:23, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Just some words of caution: the gates to the hidden chests, open toward the player and it is easy to get swept off to the side; while in the lava, the entire screen turns bright yellow and orange, making it difficult to see; to avoid damage, the Ethereal shout is best, however a combination of fire resist gear and a potion will also do nicely; and for those who care, this is a perfect spot to level your Restoration skills. --CleaverX 00:09, 9 August 2012 (UTC)

Lava Imagespace[edit]

I have entered the lava at the back of the forge and the bright yellow/orange effect that blinds you, has not gone away, under active effects, there is an effect above all the others called lava image space for 24000 hrs this makes the game impossible to play, i have reloaded, slept (really difficult, wondering around windhelm completely blind), fast travelled, waited and it is still there, it makes the game impossible to play as even in the darkest caves the light is blinding and that is nothing compared to daylight, i know it cant be called a glitch unless someone else sees this so please say if you see this (im on xbox) — Unsigned comment by 90.211.107.176 (talk) at 10:50 on 28 August 2012

My best advice would be to load a save before ya entered the lava haha... if you don't have one there, load a save soon after you did and re-enter it for a second - This should clear it up. Whispendtalk 13:25, 28 August 2012 (UTC)
Happened to me when I was exploring the magma, too. I reentered the magma, then left it a few times, and it finally went away. I feel like the effect is over-done; it's more dangerous than the damage, because you can't escape the damage if you can't see where you're going. I had to jump frequently to get my bearings. I would think Become Ethereal would evade the visual effect of damage for it's duration, but obviously not.--Playerseekingbugs 17:26, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Re-Using The Forge[edit]

If one were to add another aetherium crest to his or her inventory, would it allow for the forge to be used again or is its use a scripted part of the quest? --BlackhawkXIII (talk) 02:40, 7 December 2012 (GMT)

An old question, but still in need of a documented answer. Yes, it can be used again. HOWEVER, it will only allow you to make anything if you have ONLY ONE crest in your inventory. Having more than one tricks the driving script into thinking nothing can be created. Adding crests one at a time to your inventory will allow you to make more than one item. I think this may have subsequently been patched, as I just tried adding an Aetherial Crest to my inventory and was unable to use the forge again. You may need to give yourself the other two quest rewards directly using console commands.— Unsigned comment by 47.200.52.99 (talk) at 21:50 on 20 February 2021 (UTC)

The void area south of the tonal gate[edit]

Is there any way to access that void area to the south of the tonal gate? If so, is there anything in there worth looking at? I try to complete my locality maps wherever possible, and this one has been evading me. Daric 06:02, 17 June 2014 (GMT)

Have your ingredients with you in the forge area or else you won't progress without a prior save.[edit]

Umm...yeah! Just so you know, you will need to have the jeweled stones/ingots with you in the forge room before the forge guardians onslaught and not stashed in a chest somewhere else outside the forge room. Why? The stairs leading back to the beginning of the dungeon will collapse, leaving you unable to create your Aetherium object and progressing further in this quest...unless loading a previous save. — Unsigned comment by FalloutIII 2013 (talkcontribs) at 18:37 on 27 February 2024 (UTC)

All stuff for forging every possible thing in the Aetherium Forge is in the boss Dwarven chest off to the right of the arena; the quest even points you to it for easier referrence, so you don't have to bring crafting materials beforehand. 216.47.26.254 22:41, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
