Link Skyrim:Followers on Skyrim:Skyrim?

I'm a little confused as to why the Followers page isn't linked to the Skyrim front page, that is a pretty major thing to be leaving out of gameplay/world information.

Behind the Wall: The Making of Skyrim Trailer

Bethesda recently released this the trailer to The Making of Skyrim, which will be included in the collector's edition of the game. Fin Dova Feyn 00:21, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

The video requires that you have a youtube account so here's another link to it http://www.dailyblam.com/news/2011/11/02/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-making-of-trailer

Lockpicking

Just a quick question. How will lockpicking work in Skyrim? Will it be like Fallout 3/NV were you need a specific skill level to even attempt to pick the lock, or Oblivion were in there is no need for a skill requirement and being a hard lock only means it is harder to pick? — Unsigned comment by 112.201.123.3 (talk) at 02:31 on 2 November 2011 (GMT)

The mechanisms aren't known, but it will be like Fallout's, we just don't know anything about difficulties and level specificity. Ss4matador 1:36 2th November 2011
(edit conflict) Skyrim uses the same mini game as FO3/NV, so we could probably assume that the skill requirements will work similarly. --Legoless 01:39, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Its already been confirmed that the lockpicking will be similar to F3/NV but you can attempt any lock at any level but if your say an apperntice and you attempt a master lock it is almost impossible to pick as the game phyiscally makes the lock more challenging unlike oblivion where you just at to be good at the mini game to pick the lock and your level did not play a significant part.--90.199.32.161 07:50, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
The lockpicking mini-game was seen in the recent leaked opening 20 minutes, although now it seems like they have all been taken down.RIM 12:13, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Werewolves? So confused....

As we all know, werewolves were confirmed to not exist in a recent Belgian article, but this screen shot [removed link] is currently going around. Not sure what to make of it. A lot of it looks authentic, but the fact it's a silhouette kinda says it's a fake. Eximago 15:09, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

I removed your link, it came from the xbox leak. I don't know what to make of it, since I believe we even had it confirmed that they weren't available previously. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:13, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Didn't realize that sort of thing was off limits! My apologies. But yeah. I'm definitely not holding my breath. Pete Hines won't say either way on Twitter. Eximago 15:16, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Without hard references it is hard to say if werewolves were counted out in general, or only the fact that the player can contract lycanthropy. I'd suggest to just accept contradicting information for now, it will clear up in about 10 days anyway. --Alfwyn 15:29, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
I found an image of the ring of hircine, but im not sure if i should put the link here. The image shows the effect that ring gives; "Additional werewolf transformation" it says. --Archain 16:25, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
If it comes from a leak then don't bother. It's only going to get removed. mxk101Talk 16:32, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
There was a livestream going around last night. The player became a werewolf, and I must say the gameplay looks amazing. I'd post a link, but it's from a leak, so it'd just end up getting removed. — Unsigned comment by 68.111.151.194 (talk) at 22:46 on 4 November 2011 (GMT)
They never said you could not be a werewolf, they only stated that the disease to become one is not in the game. There could be another possible way to become a werewolf. — Unsigned comment by Lolasaurous (talkcontribs) at 15:19 on 6 November 2011 (GMT)
you can become a werewolf via doing the companion quests.
you become a werewolf from a companion member. It becomes a power that you can use. You transform into a werewolf for a certain amount of time. You can feed of out of other people to increase the amount of time you are a werewolf!

Trophies!

I don't care if xbox gets dlc first make the page with notes for accomplisments say achievments/trophies because I find it favoritism to only put one type of console!99.169.161.243 04:51, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

The page you're referring to is also known as Trophies, and it says right at the top of the page that achievements refers to Xbox 360 Achievements, Steam Achievements and Playstation 3 Trophies. It has a column specifically set aside for listing bronze/silver/gold trophies; the only reason the column hasn't been filled in is that as far as I know that information is not yet available. --NepheleTalk 05:00, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Skyrim Avatar clothing on Xbox

Upon arriving home today I was delighted to see that there was new avatar clothing and props available on the Xbox marketplace. These included a dark brotherhood outfit, a dragon armor helmet and full dragon armor, a dragonborn outfit (Iron helm with fur armor as seen in trailers), a Mage robe with hood, a prop of an elder scroll, a prop of a dragon, and a prop of a mage's staff. I wonder if this information would be any useful under downloadable content on the skyrim page, I'm new to this and don't know all of the rules regarding this kind of stuff. Clothes

im a girl player so i find that one of my favorite things about oblivion was the amount of different clothes you could have. if anyone knows anything about what clothes there will be in skyrim, please tell me as i would like to know. Kate the great 10:48, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

It has been said many times that Skyrim will be far more detailed than Oblivion so there probably will be more clothes available, also there are a lot more armour types available. On top of that, you can somewhat customise weapons and armour using materials such as wolf hide. So far I have seen hide armour, farm clothes, iron armour and the clothes that people in Riverwood wear.RIM 10:55, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

  • There is also a spec. horse that can be used in the game by doing quests from the Dark Brotherhood. (spymaster) (11/21/11)

^ The name of said horse is Shadowmere, she also comes in Oblivion, and if you aproach Shadowmere with Lucian Lachance's ghost following you, he will even remark nostalgicly that he remembers the steed. (Sash the Unseen) (11/25/11)

arena

i know i ask a LOT of questions but im curious, is the arena going to be in skyrim? i only ask because that was the only thing i was really good at in oblivion, that and being fashionable... Kate the great 13:38, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't say so but there hasn't been anything about the Arena either confirming or denying it that I'm aware of.RIM 13:41, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Pete Hines has confirmed multiple time via Twitter that there is NO arena, this [1] being the most recent example. Eximago 18:01, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

aw thats ashame! i wont be good at anything now Kate the great 21:17, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Though they took out The Arena, it has been somewhat "replaced" by something called "bar brawls". Fin Dova Feyn 23:24, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

map inconsistencies

now i might be wrong here and please show me if i am, but there seems to be an inconsistency with the available maps for Skyrim, they say there are supposed to be 9 holds, i've checked a couple of maps and i've counted but it seems to me that there are only 8 holds shown. Lordarcturus 07:06, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Some of the maps don't show all the holds up very well and some seem to be wrong. The holds are: Haafingar in the NW with The Reach to the south Hjalmark to the east; Whiterun is south of Hjalmark and Falkreath Hold south of that; The Pale east of Hjalmark with Winterhold in the NE, Eastmarch in the E And The Rift in the SE. Different maps show different names, and all of this is pre-release so could be dead wrong. rpeh •TCE 07:16, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
oh okay that makes more sense, i guess i'll have to wait till i get the physical map, thanks for clearing it up somewhat. Lordarcturus 07:18, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Skyrim release date

Hi everyone,

Skyrim's release date was set to 11th November... I was in the supermarket at lunch, doing some groceries, and what did I find there? Indeed: Skyrim on all three platforms. A day before the official release date. Tonight after work I can start playing. Finally

Has this happened in other places as well? I've been trying to find more info on the net, but nothing so far.--Greg 12:37, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

I saw some stories on gaming sites that several stores in Australia had started selling it early. (see this, for instance). Beyond that, I dunno. rpeh •TCE 12:42, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Seeing your character after you were done with character creation

I'm not sure how to go back and look at my character- I want to show my boyfriend the character I made and we can't figure out how to see my characters face.

On the 360, with your weapons sheathed (so the camera will turn instead of your character) click the right stick to go into third-person perspective and then rotate the camera around with the right stick to see your character. --GKtalk2me 04:24, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Imperial Legion Quest

I am stumped on the Imperial Legion quest where you follow the soldiers into ruins to recover an artifact. I got through the door where you turn the knobs on the door but after that I am at a gate where I cant find any lever to open it. I have found a lever with a Drwarvin dagger on it but that only led to a room with loot. Any advise where it can be?

I know which bit you mean and i "think" you follow the path around past the space with the dwarven dagger and there is another room with a handle or lever on wall on the left hand side and when you pull it the draugr come alive and start attcking the soliders beneath you.

Setting

Hello people, on the Skyrim main page it says that it is only set in Skyrim but there is a quest where it is set in Sovngarde. ;P --JackD791 17:05, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Its across the bridge, there is a small lever on the wall

Facing the gate look to your right, you see a passage to the upper level. Walk through that and over the 2 small bridges then it should be on your left, its a small round lever on the wall.

Help!

i have posted this comment on the werewolf talk page but it is urgent so i am posting it here too.

im on the silverhand quest, to do with becomming a werewolf, and i have just woken from having fainted a second time. the huntswoman (forgotton her name) tells me i have to go and kill the silver hands. i dont want to do this however. so i fast travel to a town and she is still following me. i realise that she will continue to follow me until i complete the quest. what i want to know is, is there any way i can quit this quest? (my last save was after my awakoning from the second faint)

any help on this would be greatly appriciated as i cant continue until i quit this quest. thank you Kate the great 17:20, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

How about just kill the huntswoman? (Sash the Unseen) (11/25/11)

Cannibal

So, By finishing a quest you can become a Cannibal and eat people to regain health. Should this be added along with the Werewolf and Vampire pages? If so I am about to go through the quest again and can do a full walk through. If I can get two people to confirm I will start working on it.

The cannibalism quest is not related to werewolves or vampires in anyway. Its part of a daedric quest and should not be added to the werewolf or vampire pages. --68.109.194.141 02:15, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Shouts and Powers

I'd like to see the pages explaining shouts and powers available from here. We can stick them under Skills and they certainly wouldn't be out of place. Metricjester 08:46, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Yes I meant that page exactly. Metricjester 08:46, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
arent all of the shouts already under the magic page..?
All of the shouts were already documented at Dragon Shouts before this discussion was started; all of the powers have now been added to Powers. So I'm not sure what exactly this request is for. --NepheleTalk 17:29, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Traps link?

The Traps page is now up, and while not complete, it does have lots of descriptions on it. In Oblivion it was listed under Gameplay Information/Hints, should it be directly linked under Gameplay, or World Info, or some other sub-category? --QuillanTalk 15:14, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Skooma and Moon Sugar

I think a Skooma and Moon Sugar page should be made for Skyrim. There is a skooma page for Oblivion, not just a potion page with skooma included. Also, I can't figure out how to make the pages because it redirects you to an ingredient or potion page.--DarthWeezie 16:47, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

After you've been redirected, if you scroll up to the very top of the page there'll be a link that says, for example, "(Redirected from Skyrim:Skooma)". Click on that link and it will take you to the redirect page which can then be edited. --NepheleTalk 16:54, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank you for your help. I managed to create rough pages for both Skooma and Moon Sugar.

Skyrim Shadowmere Glitch

I got Shadowmere a while back in Skyrim and I was doing some quests and I realized that he wasn't appearing next to me when I fast-traveled anymore....I looked in a lot of places and couldn't find him...any help? EzioTheAssassin 04:59, 24 November 2011 (UTC)EzioTheAssassin

Shadowmere is NOT essential in Skyrim. He probably got killed somewhere. Rayce Kaiser 14:20, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
He respawns outside the DB sanctuary after a few days though.RIM 18:55, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Shadowmere is female... hints the name shadow-MERE, meaning female horse, plus in Oblivion when you recieve the steed from Lachance, he tells you "she is a great steed indeed".

I think you mean "mare." It is a separate and distinct word from "mere." Also, Astrid refers to Shadowmere as "he," so you can't claim based on game data when it isn't certain in the first place. Aresvallis 15:50, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

In oblivion Shadowmere is a she, and in Skyrim Shadowmere is a he. Astrid also says that "it" is the same horse. It's just a minor continuity problem.

The hell are the Daedra?

Where are the daedra? all I've seen are Dremora and Atronachs. Wheres are the rest of them? If there aren't any wouldn't that make this the only Elder Scrolls game with no Daedra?--68.109.194.141 12:54, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

They pop up as summonings, and some Dremora are around during, well, Daedric quests. Even with the Oblivion Gates closed, Skyrim doesn't have the level of daedric worship that Morrowind had, thus the lack of usual presence.-Zydrate[][] 19:04, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
not the Daedric Princes, just regular daedra like Scamps or Daedroths. Scamps have been around since Battlespire and Daedroths were here since Daggerfall.--68.109.194.141 07:07, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
I think Zydrate meant that Daedra enemies appear during Daedric quests. Other than that, their low numbers are logical, given that the Champion of Cyrodil just locked most means of voluntary entry to Nirn for them. They have little to no chance of getting into any part of Tamriel including Skyrim, unless summoned by someone. Given how I guess even that became more difficult for the summoners and the Mage's Guild it self has crumbled in the past two centuries; I see how Daedra summoning itself would be restricted. (late edit) --213.178.101.3 00:23, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Well that sucks. maybe they'll come back in a DLC (I hope). 68.109.194.141 07:43 27 November 2011 (UTC)
You guys are forgetting a few things. The daedra didn't really have a voluntary means of entry into Tamriel in the first place, it was the breaking of the covenant with Akatosh that allowed them in during the Oblivion crisis. There really should be more daedric presence in the dungeons at least, especially at high levels, as there was in Morrowind. The Dunmer had a part of Skyrim at one point, before the Nords came to drive them out, so there should be Daedric ruins, if anything. Aresvallis 16:00, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Crime...Paying off for a bounty (or getting rid of it)?

I accidentally stole a simple iron helmet in the frist village of the game, and now all of the characters in the White Run county seem intent on killing me. I would quite happily go to jail or pay of the fine, but none of the guards or characters will enable me to get anywhere near them before they attack. My bounty was only like 40, so why are they doing this to me?

They kill you because of your crime. There's no guard so they take matters into there own hands. Dont kill there chickens either. Make your way to white run, pay off your bounty and they wont attack.
KRS2
Did you try yielding?RIM 16:21, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

What is yielding?

It's where you surrender to people. To do it, just put away your weapons while in combat. If the person likes you enough they will stop attacking. Probably wont work on normal people early in the game since you probably haven't done many quests to get them to like you but it basically always works on guards who will then give you the standard pay gold or go to jail option. Also, make sure you install the day one patch if you haven't already.RIM 16:31, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Sorry for not knowing anything, but what is the day one patch, and how do I go about installing it? I have already tried to yield to guards, he looked at me for a moment then killed me.

It's okay, 2 weeks ago nobody knew anything about Skyrim! The day 1 patch is an update that bethesda released on skyrim's releases day. On Xbox it automatically installs when you play skyrim for the first time, I don't know if this is the same on ps3 or pc. It basically fixes loads of glitches. Anyway, I think if people don't like you, which is probable if you haven't done any quests, they wont yield. Guards should yield to you, just make sure to not take out a weapon after you put it away.RIM 17:40, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

A little note on yielding: I've been attacked by guards a few times for very minor offenses and I didn't have my weapon out at the time. When that happens there is no option to yield, what you have to do is take out your weapon, then put it away. They'll follow suit and let you pay off your 5 septim bounty.

Beowulf

Does anyone else think Skyrim is similar to Beowulf (legend) in many ways?

^Agreed, but it isn't a straght across copy or anything, it is completly original, it just seems like it in some quests and the general setting. (11/26/11) (Sash the Unseen)

Nordic culture is based off of that of the Anglo-Saxons, which is the culture Beowolf comes from --24.172.222.180 19:31, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

There's also some references to Beowulf like King Hrothgar from the poem and High Hrothgar in the game. I'm sure there's but I'm not familiar enough with the text to catch any more.

New glitch (maybe)

I don't know if it's already a mentioned glitch, but... Saarthal - My game froze on my when I tried breaking down the door after collecting artifact necklace. After putting on the necklace and seeing the magical thing on the door, I used lightning spell to break it down... My game froze. I reloaded the game and tried again, only this time using only one hand instead of two. Again, my game froze on me. Then I tried using a flame spell, and my game didn't freeze.

-- This often happens with fire too. A solution is to run the game in windowed mode for just that particular part. Once you've destroyed the door, you can go back to full-screen.

I had the same problem, but with fire. It happened three times, and then I switched to lightening and it worked. Gideon Dragontongue 19:08, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

Quest Items?

Would it be worthwhile to create a page of quest items that link back to the quests they relate to? I've picked up several items at various times that I couldn't remove from my inventory (I'm toting a copy of "Hanging Gardens" at the moment), yet there is no journal entry pointing me toward where it should go. I suspect that the modding community will do something with this once the CK is released, but at the moment it's a minor pain to have something without knowing why I can't drop it. New Update

I just was prompted to DL a patch for skyrim. Hopefully this will fix some of the bugs and such. I was wondering if PC players could tell us what the patch actually fixes/does. I am on the ps3 and would love to know what all has been changed with this latest patch--Lord.Baal 23:01, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

The Patch is broken, the Hell and back: +Magic Resistances dont apply no more - I was able to Paralyse a Dragon, also Fire-Ball a Fire Atronach to Death, and Ice-Blast a Frost Atronach to Death. +Dragons fly backwards and in irratic manners, glitching all over the place, changing their velocity AND direction in a split second. +Low FPS. I had 40+ ALL the time, now it breaks down, a lot. +Still occasional crashes when Dragons spawn - esp. when entering a town/crossing the cell border to the next town/next area, the game crashes. WHEN it finally doesnt crash, a Dragon appears. So that crash HAS to be the dragon spawning, probably in the wrong place or something. +Shot arrows dont disappear. I mean arrows stuck in walls and trees and the ground. Whole Riverwood looks like a pincushion, and that might cause a lot of lag too. +Bethesda wont fix these, never ever, and why? Because they CAN, refuse to fix I mean. Just look at all the other Games they released. Oh shoot, somebody's gonna delete this now in like the next few minutes, since I said something they don't quite like to read :D

Sound Problem

Is anyone experiencing very faint sounds on Skyrim. When I meant sounds I mean the effects and the voices. I have the PC version of Skryim, and it was just working fine until the bloody 1.2 update. Now I can't even hear the sound of any spells going off and unsheathing weapons also actors voices are not consistent sometimes I can't hear them even when I'm standing a few inches away from them.

Is anyone else expecting this error pls. help. I have looked it up on the internet but all advice so far is to adjust the playback settings on my Audio Settings to 16bit 44kHz, and updated and reinstalled the drivers for my sound card but I'm still experiencing the problems.

My Skyrim is beginning to sound like Morrowind because of the very faint sounds or no sounds at at all.

HELP!

Thanks, gothicpanda 12/01/2011 10:05 GMT+8:00

First, turn all the sounds up to maximum, and then exit the game. Goto "My Documents/Sykrim/SkyrimPrefs.ini" and set the Value "fAudioMasterVolume=" so it says "fAudioMasterVolume=2.0000". Now rightclick on the file, go to propertiens and you set the flag to "Read-only". Now you go ingame and it should be louder. A lot. ONLY DOWNSIDE IS: IT WON'T SAVE ANY CHANGES DONE TO THE INGAME SETTINGS, since the File is "READ-ONLY", so it is best to set up your game 100% the way you like, and THEN do the Read-Only thing. You have to make it read only, since when you go to your Options, it may reset everything to next Value possible, and that is only "fAudioMasterVolume=1.0000", so you have to "trick" the game into taking the settings.-Carl
