Eyes[edit]

Is anyone else seeing the eye lashes of this guy in the wrong place? At least to me, it seems like there is something glitched about his eyes. --Aezay 03:08, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

There's a picture on the article that can help you tell how this NPC appears for others. I think I see what you're talking about, it might be some sort of eye detail, but I'm not sure.--Admos 22:49, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Dragon attack[edit]

A dragon attacked during Runil's service for Indara Caerellia and Mathies' daughter. Is this known to cause any glitches, or do they just return to their regular routines after the scripted speech stops? Thanks.--Admos 22:52, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Runil's Dark Past[edit]

I was going to put the dialogue on his unfinished/unused quest (Runil's Dark Past), but I felt that it was way too long to be just a note. It goes like this:

  • Game data indicates an unused quest for Runil called Runil's Dark Past, where Runil's friends would have asked you to talk to Runil. You would have informed him, "Some of your friends feel you're troubled.", and he would have replied, "Burying the past is much harder than burying remains. I'm... I'm afraid of what you will think of me if I tell you about the things I've done." Should you tell him, he will go on, "Although I have not practiced in a long time I was once a wizard. Even when I was young my magic was undeniably powerful. It was that power that brought me to the attention of the Thalmor. In the Summerset Isles it is a great honor to be chosen to serve the Thalmor." Runil will also explain who the Thalmor are: "They are the governing council of the Aldmeri Dominion. They lead us to attack the Empire and forced the Empire to agree to stop worshiping Talos. It was during the war with the Empire that I was at the height of my power. As a Thalmor battlemage I laid waste the enemy. Men, women, children, no one was spared my wrath. I destroyed whole villages." He will confirm that he is afraid his friends will find out. "I dream about those days still. Except I'm not me. I can see myself there and I try to stop what I know is going to happen but... Many of the Empire's troops were Nords at that point. Some of them could even have been from around here." After this conversation, you could have told Runil that his secret is safe with you, and he would have been grateful: "Thank you. May Arkay bless you. I won't forget this." Alternatively, you could have told either Indara, Mathies, or Kust that Runil was one of the Thalmor during the war, and they would have replied, "I knew he was troubled, but one of the Thalmor? I wish I could say I did not believe it. Thank you for telling me."

Any ideas on how to put this on the article? As a level 3 subheader under Notes? Or should it be reformatted to fit in the Notes section without getting too long and blocky? Thanks.

A bit late, but I've added this to the notes section for now. I agree that it is a touch too large to be a note, but it's better for this dialogue to be documented somewhere on the article than not at all and I'm not sure the quest-related events section is appropriate for this info. Dream[edit]

I don't think a dream constitutes evidence. When you have a dream, I suppose anything and everything is possible. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 23:20, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

In our real world, yes. We have all kinds of random dreams. But that is why movies like Inception are unrealistic and yet we accept the premise and go along with it. We are not meant to focus on what seems to us realistic or not - we are to focus on narrative imperative, because we are dealing with stories. You can't bring in your positivist-type thinking ("only XYZ type of evidence counts as evidence, I IS SCIENTIFIC SCIENTIST"). To do so would defeat the entire endeavour of taking in a narrative or participating in it. When I contend that it's strong evidence, I am not being a forensic investigator or a scientist, I am being a reader of a text. That is the nature of the exercise we are engaged in here - the reading of a text.
In the game as well. Dreams and especially sequence are where anything and everything is possible. If it's in Runil's dream, it isn't true. Just like Alan Tracy's dream sequence in Thunderbirds Are Go. FAB 1 is shown to go into space and uses a rocket on the underside to 'park', and because it's in a dream sequence, it's not considered true that the Rolls-Royce is capable of going into space. The same for when Cliff Richard and the Shadows are on top of a giant guitar in space without spacesuits. DRAGON GUARD(TALK) 23:00, 28 May 2016 (UTC)
