Possible Bug[edit]

Moved this here for now - it doesn't really belong on the quest page due to the wording, but it sounds serious enough to qualify for investigation later on:

  • watch out for this mission. its damned buggy. make sure you are not stage 4 vampire when you meet the guy at the shrine, as you will never be able to finish the quest to cure the vampirism. it says to talk to the guy, you do at his hut, and no wheres else, no matter the time of day. its effing retarded. make sure the mission is the only active one, open the console by pressing the tilde (~) key, and type, without the quotes "setstage VC01 200" and voila, no more vampire BS

always late[edit]

in my case Falion after he exits his house goes somewhere to the south of the Morthal and then he rushes to the circle and each time he fails to arrive there before 6 am - simply impossible to finish this quest. (I was lucky enough to keep companion quest line untouched and using it to get rid of vampirism) — Unsigned comment by 174.21.124.176 (talk) at 22:00 on 25 December 2011 (UTC)

Delayed by Mudcrab[edit]

If you follow Falion on his way to the circle, he'll encounter a mudcrab which will block him, and then prevent him from completing the quest.

After several attempts, I killed the mudcrab at about 4:40 am, before Falion reached the mudcrab spot. Because Falion didn't have to react to the crab, he completed the quest as expected. — Unsigned comment by 70.112.75.143 (talk) at 03:52 on 2 January 2012 (UTC)

Another Bug[edit]

After being cured of Vampirism, i still have access to the Vampire Sight as long as i do not change powers. Anyone else confirm? On 360 Rpbraley868 16:52, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

I experienced the same bug. Even though I could use it, Vampire's Sight was not listed in my Powers section, and I was no longer able to use it upon selecting a different power. — Unsigned comment by 124.148.177.234 (talk) at 10:15 on 28 January 2012 (UTC)

Repeating Quest[edit]

Is it possible to repeat this quest after you became a vampire again? — Unsigned comment by 198.168.48.130 (talk) on 29 March 2012

Yes, you can become a vampire and cure yourself as many times as you want. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 20:08, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

possible bug...[edit]

Falion won't move at all for me. I should mention I accidentally cured my vampirism already by becoming a werewolf. That is the only reason I can think of... 108.92.176.211 17:41, 17 October 2012 (GMT)

Bug with starting the quest[edit]

I'm trying to get Falion to talk about curing my vampirism, but the topic doesn't show up to ask about the cure. I've finished the Dawnguard missions and I'm a stage 4 vampire. — Unsigned comment by 50.42.146.199 (talk) at 07:11 on 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Did you talk to Jonna about Falion first? You have to ask her about rumors until she mentions that falion investigates vampires, dark magic etc. RIM (talk) 09:51, 8 November 2012 (GMT)
It worked! I've never had to talk to someone before to start the quest so I thought I was just supposed to go to Falion. Thanks RIM. — Unsigned comment by 50.42.146.199 (talk) at 18:17 on 8 November 2012 (UTC)

Possible fixes[edit]

After much desperate and angry experimentation (12 times trying to get him to cure me, finally succeeding), and reading of so many other people having all the same issues I kept running into, I thought I would post the steps that, at long last, got the quest to work properly:

1. Talking to an innkeeper first. In all my tries, he never had the dialogue option, nor did the Rising at Dawn quest begin prior to this step.

2. Feeding on someone around 3:30am, before running out to the circle, to ensure being in stage 1 vampirism.

3. Waiting in town until 4am or shortly after, so that the quest will change from "Meet Falion outside the circle at dawn" to "Talk to Falion". On the times I waited at the circle or even within eyesight of it, he never showed or was late.

4. Pushing him and running against him until he is actually physically inside the circle, and then rushing into it and talking to him before he gets the chance to walk out of it, seems to be the most important step -- all 11 tries prior to this failed (a few times he would say "The ritual is complete" and walk away, but I was still a vampire). 71.211.181.58 03:15, 11 March 2013 (GMT)

Alternative way to start the quest?[edit]

I became a vampire lord in order to enter the Soul Cairn. When I want back to Dawnguard fort and activated Isran, he commented on my state with disgust and gave me this quest to cure myself. --83.11.37.147 05:11, 3 September 2013 (GMT)

That does tend to happen. You need to complete it and get cured to continue with the questline. ThuumofReason (talk) 12:58, 3 September 2013 (GMT)

Bug with Dawnguard and lycanthropy[edit]

I'm one of those gamers who likes to play all the aspects fully, but I prefer lycanthropy to vampirism. I played as a werewolf until I got to the Soul Cairn in the main DG questline, then became a vampire lord in order to enter. After getting the scroll, I returned to Fort Dawnguard and Isran directed me to Falion, starting this quest. I completed it once, so I could continue the DG quests, but later I had Serana make me a vampire lord again so I could get all the perks of that aspect. Another conversation at Fort Dawnguard started this "Rising at Dawn" quest again, but before I went to Morthal I decided to visit Jorrvaskr and have Aela restore my lycanthropy...and by becoming a werewolf again, my vampirism was cured. However, this quest remains active in my journal at stage 50 ("speak to Falion"), and even when I go to Morthal to see Falion, there are no dialogue options to continue the quest. I can, of course, use the console to advance the quest to completion, but non-PC players would have this quest stuck in their journal forever. Rolandito (talk) 19:02, 23 September 2013 (GMT)

Yes, it could be mentioned in this article, that if you cure your vampirism with becoming a werewolf after the quest has started, you are unable to finish this quest. Is this only with the Dawnguard addon? I don't believe so. I did this mistake after playing all DG content through. — Unsigned comment by 86.50.116.66 (talk) at 17:52 on 17 October 2013

falion attak me[edit]

in rising at dawn i go to speak with falion but he attack me and dont let me to speak.how i solve this problem?is this bug?!(2.146.133.186 23:51, 30 January 2014 (GMT))

an in addition i tested the "setstage vc01 200" to complete the quest but my lord vampire didn't cure and i remained the vampire.i should say i installed dawn guard and i have last version of update.(2.146.133.186 23:54, 30 January 2014 (GMT))
As Falion is a member of the Hjallmarch crime faction, his hostility was likely due to you having a bounty in that hold. You could solve this simply by paying off your bounty, but as you've already force completed the quest, your best bet would be to reload a previous save from before you completed the quest, pay off the bounty, then do the quest. --AN|L (talk) 00:46, 31 January 2014 (GMT)
thanks about your answer.i solved my problem by setstage code.but i came back to soul and i became to vampire again.this time any body tell me go to falion even when some dawngaurd crews tell me "you are one of them.." or "you should speak with isran" , isran dosent say any things about my vampirism.this time falion dosent attack me and he speak with me but not about my vampirism.indeed this time never start the quest and also i dont suffering from sun like vampires but i have all of vampire powers and my eyes are like vampires!i spoke with all of inn keepers but they don't tell any things to me about falion.how i should solve this problem or in other hand i should solve this or it is good bug??!
