Stealth Kill?

Even though the kids, and even her assistant, are aware that you killed her, there won't be any bounty on your head. In fact, Riften guards will later comment that the death of Grelod was a good thing for the children (unlike guards from the other holds, who think it is a terrible thing) 82.243.194.53 13:36, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

Actually, there was an instance where I had Grelod killed and somehow calmed Constance down (I believe with a calm spell or by yielding). Major revision

I have almost completely re-written this page. As the quest is likely encountered while the game is still providing tutorial information, I have added more "out of character point of view" information than is typical. It will no doubt need scrutiny and further re-working.

I assume that because the previous version was written early, it treats two closely-related quests as one. I have maintained this for now, but for consistency, it may need to be separated into the misc. questlet "Talk to Aventus Aretino" and the "main" Dark Brotherhood quest "Innocence Lost." --Jreynolds2^Talk 20:56, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi. You wrote in a note on the page that if Grelod is killed before starting the quest, "it" will mark as complete. Can you give some more details? There is the miscellaneous "prequest" "Talk to Aventus..." and the "full" quest "Innocence Lost." Did you kill Grelod before getting either one? Then what happened exactly? What was marked complete, and what happened next? (How did you get from Aventus saying "you're that good" to starting the next quest, "With Friends Like These..." If you can remember! Actually, I killed Grelod the first time I visited Riften (mind you that this was WAY before rumors about Aventus sprung up and before getting the little prequest); what happened is that once you do get the objective to talk to him (doesn't matter if you killed grelod before or during this prequest comes up, as long as it is before the actual quest "innocence lost") and speak with adventus, during the dialogue, a unique dialogue option will come up when talking to him saying something like "actually, it turns out I did kill a woman named Grelod" or something like that, and Aventus will pretty much comment "I didn't know the dark brotherhood was THAT good". The thing about marked complete is that when you speak to adventus, and the moment it gives you the objective to kill Grelod, it just immediately crosses out and says its complete; after that, it just ends the quest like it should (but no bonus of any kind unfortunately) (by the way, the original note tip I wrote was edited by someone else, I was confused myself)— Unsigned comment by 130.157.91.157 (talk) at 11:27 on 27 February 2012

Cant get in the Dark Brotherhood

Help I cant get into the dark brotherhood sanctuary, I attempted to get in before, but now i did the murder for the kid, got stuffed into the shack and had to kill someone, she told me the code word, i go to the sanctuary, and cant get in! Is it right?

I cannot help but wonder, would it be right to kill Grelod? I mean, sure she is cruel and tortures children, but does that still make it right? Is it okay to murder a torturer? I'm curious. Nikofeelan 02:20, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

I killed Grelod, at the proper quest stage, and it didn’t mark complete.

Now it’s 30 levels later and I am just noticing it. Constance is running around shouting that she cannot best me, and Grelod the Corpse is nowhere to be seen. I have a mod (Cheat Room) that allows some CC use on console, so I believe it can be remedied with a simple manual quest stage advance, but I am absolutely unfamiliar with how to decipher these CC terms. “What form variable would you like to use?”’and so forth. Do we have a CC doctor in the house? Thanks, and please forgive the oddity of the question; it’s a grey area when asking about mod related things, but this is SSE I’m asking after.
