There seems to be a bug where there is no Jarl of Markath once the Stormcloaks take over the town.

replace and replace[edit]

what will happen if i hand over The Reach during season unending and than side with imperial legion and get back the reach. will he go to blue palace and than come back to Understone Keep?(Vvardfell 01:34, 25 December 2011 (UTC))

He will go to the blue palace if you decide to trade Markarth with the stormcloaks, but if you side with the imperials instead and fight for Markarth, he will return as Jarl.

Bugged[edit]

so I chatted him up on markarth's history and I asked him about buying a home before i did a standard sellsword bandit kill and he still won't offer me the quest to go retrieve his father's shield and thus I can't buy a house in markarth. I went to his steward and did several bounty quests and each time I return Igmund still won't give me the quest to go fetch the shield so I can buy a home here in markarth.

I've also encountered this bug...... ---Gamer3427 18:54, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
This may be caused by not having the requisite level (20). Caralampio (talk) 23:56, 7 August 2014 (GMT)

Cedran mentions Hrolfdir arrested Ulfric on behalf of the Empire.[edit]

When the Dragonborn speaks with Cedran about Markarth, he mentions that Ulfric was arrested by Igmund's father, and that Igmund followed in his father's footsteps in siding with the Legion. He specifically says: "That would be Jarl Igmund. Young for a ruler of a Hold, especially the Reach. Wasn't surprising he stayed loyal to the Empire. His father helped capture Ulfric Stormcloak after the Markarth incident." Lobsel Vith (talk) 18:21, 25 March 2013 (GMT)

You are 100% correct, and as there is nothing saying he was killed in the uprising, one has to wonder why it was entered as Lore when we have an in game source stating his survival long after that event Thorus (talk) 01:42, 21 September 2018 (UTC)

Thalmor Embassy Dialogue[edit]

I got a different dialogue when asking him to make a distraction. Instead of having an option to persuade or dismiss him after asking him to make the distraction, it was automatically approved, him saying "Very well. I suppose there's nothing wrong with a bit of harmless fun." Not sure if this is a quirk of Speechcraft or if I just have a high enough relationship with him, thus I can't edit the page appropriately. If anyone knows more than I on this, much obliged.
