Disappearing Females[edit]

All the female guards throughout all of Skyrim have disappeared from my game. Is this a bug, or where they patched out at some point? (For what it's worth, I've completed just about all the quests/storylines, siding with the Imperials, for Skyrim and the released DLCs on the PC version.) 98.165.191.39 19:28, 7 January 2013 (GMT)

All guards in skyrim are always male Skirr (talk) 19:38, 7 January 2013 (GMT)
Not all guards are female, Riften Guard. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:43, 7 January 2013 (GMT)
It wasn't always that way, (See: Skyrim:Riften_Guard) which is why I was wondering if they got patched out. 98.165.191.39 19:48, 7 January 2013 (GMT)

Obviously what happened is that since only stormcloak-controlled towns and cities have female guards, and you took over skyrim for the imperials, there are know more female guards.64.135.48.170 15:50, 6 May 2013 (GMT)

Circular Linkage[edit]

Both Silver-Blood Guard and Wizards' Guard in the list currently link back to Skyrim:Guards. 98.165.191.39 19:48, 7 January 2013 (GMT)

I see, most of them used to redirect to this page which was rather fuller, they'll get filled out at some point soon. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:52, 7 January 2013 (GMT)
Wizards' Guard still links back to Skyrim:Guards. Anyone have an idea what's up or how to fix it? --Juggernaut of Love (talk) 02:26, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
If you'd like to fill out a page for that guard, go to Skyrim:Wizards' Guard, and when it redirects you to Skyrim:Guards, scroll all the way up. Under the page name and the trail, you'll see "(Redirected from Skyrim:Wizards' Guard)". Click that link to be taken to the page where the redirect is, edit it, remove the redirect template, and put whatever information you have about the Wizards' Guard there. -MolagBallet (talk) 02:18, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Far too many guards[edit]

I've recently noticed (by recently, I mean in the last week) that there are far too many guards on my character's save. I admittedly haven't checked if this applies to all saves, but on this Bosmer at least. For example, if I fast travel to Falkreath, then I am immediately greeted by 13 guards (I counted) all in the gateway, who then disperse into various patrols of the 'city.' If I'm in Whiterun, then all of the guards spawn up at Dragonsreach and march down the steps, about 15 of them... it goes on. I was wondering if anyone else had had this experience, or might have any insight into it. All I'm thinking is it's a good job this is a law-abiding Bosmer... there'd be no escaping the Hold Police if I was a crook. — Unsigned comment by MadAndyD (talkcontribs) at 16:22 on 26 April 2013‎

Insight? Maybe. I've noticed that if I fast travel to a town on a different day from my last visit(? not sure of the timing, but it's after an absence) that everyone respawns according to the time you arrived. Arriving at the Whiterun gates has the usual guards at the gate and the guardhouse, but I often see Belethor spawn by the gate and walk to his shop. Probably the origin point for all those guard patrols is at or near the point where you arrive, so they all start there and proceed. Quillan (talk) 17:20, 26 April 2013 (GMT)

"Hello."?[edit]

I occasionally press action on the guards I come across to see what they say or if they have any useful information to share or even if I Have a bounty I'm unaware of. This one particular time I was walking in Falkreath and pressed action on a guard and when i did a dialogue started and it gave me the option to say "Hello." So I said "Hello." This can happen if an NPC is involved in a quest that you've either already finished, has been disabled by some other condition, or that can't start yet because it starting conditions haven't been met. --Xyzzy Talk 04:33, 12 March 2014 (GMT)
I believe it was because I was using whirl wind sprint to move across town to my horse because I was overencumbered. Because he asked me to stop shouting. If I select "There's more where that came from" will that give me a fine? I never chose it because I was afraid it would. Cjesseg (talk) 16:28, 12 March 2014 (GMT)
No, you can sass the guards to your heart's content. They just say they'll keep their eye on you and walk away. --Rook (talk) 16:36, 12 March 2014 (GMT)

Gender[edit]

I'm not actually sure if this is completely accurate (I'd have to look at the CK to be sure), but I've noticed the gender of the guards holds a very simple trend. Guards in Imperial controlled holds (and a "neutral" Whiterun) seem to be 100% male, either with their default guard force or after being taken in the war, while guards in Stormcloak controlled holds have a few females among their force (again, either default or taken). Not sure if this is worth mentioning or not. Schiffy (Speak to me|What I've done) 00:13, 11 May 2015 (GMT)

Hostility[edit]

The article says that the guards will only be hostile if you "resist arrest." However, it seems that if you have a follower, the guards will be automatically hostile when you commit a serious crime. Is this accurate? Should it be mentioned? Heidismiles (talk) 22:52, 1 January 2020 (GMT)
