Guardian Circle not available to purchase glitch[edit]

The 1.9 patch notes mentions that it "Fixed issue with NPCs not selling master level spells". Does anyone know if this is the case for this spell?  Valadez   Talk  Contributions  17:59, 9 May 2013 (GMT)

I was able to buy it, however, I don't know whether the fix works on saves created prior to the 1.9 update. I'm almost certain that the patch notes were referring to the problem with Collette not selling the master level restoration spells. Blackpete (talk) 05:41, 16 May 2013 (GMT)
Unrelated, but possible solution.. I purchased everything in Colette's inventory before doing the test thinking that it might possibly correct the inventory reset to include the spell... it worked! I reloaded several and repeated several times all with success. — Unsigned comment by DarkAnmaglahk (talkcontribs) at 19:40 on 1 August 2013
I don't think it fixed the glitch, according to the start menu I have version 1.9.31.0.8 I completed the the Master level quest and even have bane of the undead. I tried buying all her books but it wasn't added ::::when she replenished her stock. Something strange though is that Tolfdir sold me mass paralysis even though I'm only a level 50 in alteration. Any ideas? 50.46.198.144 21:48, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

Necromage bonus[edit]

It says that Necromage boosts the duration to 90 seconds but that is a 50% increase. Is it really 90 and is a bug/anomaly or did someone just make an arithmetic mistake?--Catmaniac66 (talk) 04:43, 15 August 2013 (GMT)

50% of 60 seconds, the default time, would be 30. Therefore, the boosted time would be 90. I don't see any error there. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:45, 15 August 2013 (GMT)
We're both right but I'm less right. I was unaware that necromage gave a 50% bonus to the duration vs. the 25% bonus for effect. I thought it was 25% for all XD--Catmaniac66 (talk) 04:58, 15 August 2013 (GMT)

problem with casting[edit]

I was able to buy the spell upon completion of the quest, and it worked fine for a while. I entered Forelhost and tried casting guardian circle. The first few time it worked, now I get the casting animation but the circle doesn't show up, I can hear it once in a while but never find it. Has any one else had issues casting this spell in enclosed spaces? I play on PS3 legendary edition. 24.114.94.166 13:37, 3 September 2013 (GMT)

Seems to have fixed itself, but only after the hoards of draugr were defeated. 24.114.94.166 13:51, 3 September 2013 (GMT)
I did some testing and it's when you attempt to cast it while using become etheral the spell doesn't work, however you can charge the spell while etheral and release it once become etheral has worn off and it casts as normal. Can any one verify this? 24.114.94.166 14:05, 3 September 2013 (GMT)
I had this same problem casting it while ethereal - the spell had no effect 76.182.212.136 23:09, 5 November 2013 (GMT)

Guardian Circle lasts 30 seconds[edit]

I cannot get Guardian Circle to last more than 30 seconds. Taking the Necromage perk, Dual Casting, and going into the creation kit and changing the duration values doesn't do anything, even on an entirely new game. — Unsigned comment by 67.181.46.120 (talk) at 17:19 on 2 August 2014

The Animation will play for the 60 seconds as it spawns a dummy hazard for the visual. A hazard spawned this way will not affect the player. Bethesda added a script to put down an additional hazard that applies the fear and healing effects -> editorID GuardianCircleHazard. 30 sec duration. The scripted hazard can't pull the stats from the spawning spell because they are not directly related. --47.214.15.87 02:19, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

Dual casting[edit]

How is this spell supposed to be affected by the Dual Casting perk if it is always equipped in both hands anyway? --95.90.194.54 17:09, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

What perks affect each spell has nothing to do with how it is cast, it is about what was coded to be allowed. The perk was added by an anonymous editor, so you may wish to test its factualness if you can. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:23, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
Well, normally, Dual Casting is only relevant for spells that you can equip in both hands separately. That said, according to a note on the Dragonhide page, a bug actually allows this spell to be dual cast. It is also confirmed here. --95.90.194.54 00:21, 26 November 2018 (UTC)
