Enchantment[edit]

Does this hammer have the enchantment of the standard Dawnguard Warhammer? Additional damage to vampires? Aran Mafre 15:53, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

I assume it is the same as the rune axe, that the number of undead you kill increases the Sun damage it inflicts. Someone on the axe discussion page has said it seems to max out at an additional 110 points of damage. (Magskall 02:21, 26 August 2012 (UTC))
Does anyone have any idea exactly how powerful the base enchantment for the Dawnguard weapons are? In that they say "Does additional damage to Vampires." How much? I am at 54 smithing, with steel, elven, advanced, dwarven and orcish perks. I am also at 53 two-handed skill, with three in barbarian, champion's stance and devastating blow. My Dawnguard warhammer is at 54 damage. My Nordic warhammer is at 56, both of them at exquisite quality. If the Dawnguard enchantment does 5 or even 10 additional damage to vampirs, I'll keep it over the nordic. If It's only a few points, I'll switch to the Nordic. This is the Legendary edition for the PS3. Kylaen 8:20 pm, EST, 6/18/2014
The Hammer lacks the perk, as noted in the bugs. It would of course be useful to find the value and note it somewhere for the other items. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:32, 19 June 2014 (GMT)

Affected by Destruction perks?[edit]

Since the Rune Hammer can help train in Destruction, is it affected by that skill tree at all? Specifically, would Rune Master increase the casting range of the fire rune? Spiegel1 22:22, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

placing runes while a quest item?[edit]

Does Rune Hammer work for placing runes while a quest item before returning to Florentius Baenius, as it appears that to be non-functional at that point. — Unsigned comment by 98.165.234.207 (talk) at 08:39 on 3 December 2012‎

Yes, hammer works while quest item. It should be noted that the play uses a shield bash (not an attack hit) to bash the ground. It is easy to confuse the term bashing as "bashing and smashing" with a hammer usually refers to an offense attack. — Unsigned comment by 98.165.234.207 (talk) at 09:03 on 3 December 2012‎

Potential Bug[edit]

I just tried placing the hammer on my Weapon/Shield plaque and my weapon plaque in Breezehome. Upon doing so it completely disappeared (never showed up on the rack and was removed from my inventory) and the plaque remained useable. Has anyone else experienced this problem? --BlackhawkXIII (talk) 02:57, 6 February 2013 (GMT)

Yea I had the same problem with the hammer/weapon rack. Hammer vanished when I tried to hang it on a rack in my armory inside Winstand Manor. It seems to be a bug with any rack you attempt to hang it on. Anyone else experience something similar with the hammer? — Unsigned comment by Blue Simplex (talkcontribs) at 16:35 on 31 March 2013‎
I have had the same problem with both Weapon Plaques and Weapon Racks in both Honeyside (Riften) and Lakeside Manor (Hearthfire house in Falkreath). I also have the bug whereby it disappears from your inventory if you drop it on the floor. I can get it to stay in a chest/drawer or give it to a follower. I'm on Xbox 360. () I did not encounter the "disappears when dropped" bug, and I 'can' place it on weapon racks/plates.

I tested in Breezehome, Patch version 1.9.31.0.8 (xbox), and here are my results.

  • Weapon plate above the door:…………………………holds it every other time, otherwise drops to floor
  • Weapon rack next to firepit:……………………………holds it every other time, otherwise drops to floor
  • Weapon plate above cupboard, upper floor: …………holds it every other time, otherwise drops to floor
  • Weapon + shield plate above bed, upper floor:………holds it every other time, otherwise drops to floor
  • Dropping to floor from inventory, Breezehome:………does not disappear, even on leaving and re-entering
  • Dropping to floor from inventory, Whiterun: …………does not disappear

Things of note:

  • I tempered the hammer to 104 displayed damage, MAYBE that's what makes it stay. (Tempering alone, not the intensity of the improvement...)
  • If it drops from one plate or rack it'll stick the next time, no matter which rack/plate it's put on.
  • The 'every other time' rule established above (drops, sticks, drops, sticks,....) seems to be set in stone.

[Edit] Serana also 'holds' the hammer, quite literally in fact. She equips it. (But I haven't seen her use it so far...)
