Console Fix?[edit]

Assuming this is even possible, can anyone tell me what console command to use in order to finish this guy's quest? I already finished Lights out! and would like his awesome axe without having to steal it or killing him. What I need is probably setstage but I don't know the quest's ID, or what comes afterwards. Thanks. --92.242.230.130 13:35, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

I do not know about finishing his quest, but you can get him as a follower by increasing relationship rank with him. Use setrelationshiprank player 2 with Ahtar targeted on console. Sergio Morozov (talk) 16:44, 15 December 2012 (GMT)
The corresponding quest to make him your follower is not Lights Out, but Kill the Bandit Leader where you have to kill Captain Hargar who happens to be in the same location as Lights Out. You have to accept the quest before entering Broken Oar Grotto and killing the bandits or else the quest will be rendered unobtainable. — Unsigned comment by 78.53.8.130 (talk) at 00:45 on 3 July 2013

Armor[edit]

What kind of armor is he wearing? — Unsigned comment by 74.42.175.196 (talk)

Executioner's robes. It doesn't appear in his inventory when he dies and even if you add it via the console, it can not be equipped.Kastagir 03:14, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

You can equip it. It doesn't appear in your inventory when you use the additem command, but the equipitem command works fine for it. Ragewin 11:41, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Follower.[edit]

I do not know if my game is glitched (others can try for themselves to reconfirm) but i was able to get him without doing his quest. I do not know if it was the string of events that allowed this to happen but here is what I did. I recently cleared out the Broken Oar grotto because there is someone who needed me to retrieve an old helmet. I killed everyone in the cave including Captain Hargar because he attacked me. I return home to solitude with the helmet and get my payment. After, I stumbled into Ahtar's house and he didn't offer me any quest. I was heavy with loot and just decided to get rid of something so that I could run. I dropped a pair of Iron Gauntlets in front of him in his house and he prompts me with a question. He asks to have them, you can refuse or let him have them. Of course I let him have it (they are still on his floor at this moment). I clicked him again and I got the dialogue option "Follow me. I need your help." He also says the line "You've been a good friend to me..." This was the first time I've ever spoken to him before. I just wanted to share my findings with everyone since the main article states you cannot get him to follow you without his quest and killing Hargar before helping him. Hope this helps!— Unsigned comment by 67.175.251.121 (talk)

Total speculation, but perhaps letting him have the dropped item raised his disposition the same amount that finishing his quest would. Could be a useful trick if it's reproducible! GrogGrogGrog 21:52, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
after testing this out, by literally just dropping an armor and then repicking it up. After numerous attempts followed by giving up then followed by trying it one final time, Ahtar did run up to me to ask if he can have the item. After saying yes, I was able to get him as a follower. — Unsigned comment by 68.92.226.165 (talk) at 09:10 on 24 March 2012
I was able to use this armor gift tactic to get Torvar of the Companions as a follower without doing the Companion questline. In that case the trick was that you must drop the armor item in front of him in his path while he is walking toward it. Also if his normal dialog comes up, hit cancel (O on PS3) and then the dialog screen will shift to the question of keeping the item. You also have to let him zone before it will take effect. I think if you try that with Ahtar, it will be reproducible.--68.73.194.205 23:30, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Not giving quest[edit]

So Ahtar just is not giving me the quest to kill the bandit leader. I haven't talk to the Argonian, I have no kill the bandit leader quests, so I don't know what's up. Anyone else? 67.175.251.121 03:39, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Radiant quests sometimes fail to show up for no readily apparent reason. People seem to have this problem frequently with Scouts-Many-Marshes' quest, for example. GrogGrogGrog 21:52, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
You need to make sure you don't have an existing kill the bandit leader quest in your journal http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Kill_the_Bandit_Leader 72.194.115.180 23:59, 9 February 2014 (GMT)

Never leaves house[edit]

I seem to have a problem where after he has killed Roggvir and gone back to his house, he never leaves, and the house is never open. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? Is there a solution?118.92.255.34 22:02, 24 March 2012 (UTC)

I'm having this problem too. I've sat outside his house for 24 hours and he never appears. EDIT: I appearified him using the following console commands:
AFAIK, there shouldn't be any copies of him running around using this method --86.180.175.147 12:38, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
I don't know if it will always work, but when he wasn't leaving the house I simply broke in and after I left he proceeded to follow his normal schedule.— Unsigned comment by 67.183.157.70 (talk) on 2 April 2012
That worked for me as well, thanks. I broke in, he threw me out, I left immediately and he finally went to work.--68.73.194.205 23:34, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
I too had the issue with him not leaving. I was doing the shill job for jala's house and he was in the way. I broke in then and then left and now he's gone to work. Also I have the unoffical patch installed. It seems to have not been fixed with it yet. --Firedingo (talk) 17:09, 31 December 2012 (GMT)
I can confirm that fix too, I had waited over a day and he didn't come out, so I picked the lock, and after leaving again, he followed me out. Maybe move to the main page? - Stoph (talk) 13:47, 31 March 2013 (GMT)

Skill Perks[edit]

At lvl 30, I figured that he makes more damage with Battleaxes, so maybe he has Hack and Slash perk? If someone knows his skill perks, it will be greatly appreciated to post them. — Unsigned comment by 65.92.221.200 (talk) at 02:59 on 18 February 2013

He has no perks, none at all. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 03:03, 18 February 2013 (GMT)

Axe[edit]

Anybody else been able to take his unique axe, on Xbox? — Unsigned comment by 2.150.49.50 (talk) at 04:59 on 28 April 2013

I have been able to. --Kitty1014 (talk) 05:02, 28 April 2013 (GMT)

Decapitation Note[edit]

"Being an executioner, Ahtar can decapitate enemies"

Is this note correct? Being able to decapitate enemies is a one and two-handed perk, and if he has it, doesn't have anything to do with being an executioner --AN|L (talk) 19:08, 14 June 2013 (GMT)

Good question. He has zero perks, so he wouldn't be able to decapitate based on that. The only time I've ever seen him decapitate anyone is in the scripted scene when you first enter Solitude. He does have the keyword isExecutioner but I'm not sure that it makes him able to decapitate enemies outside of that scripted scene. I'm not a CK expert by any means, though, so it might be worth looking into at the very least. If he is not able to decapitate anyone other than in that scene, then the note should be removed. Good catch. — ABCface 01:23, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
In the CK attacks are under "attack data". His attack data is the same as any other average NPC. As for the isExecutioner keyword, I believe that may just give him executioner animations to be used during the execution scene. Vely►t►e 19:16, 18 June 2013 (GMT)

Execution image too graphic?[edit]

Due to the broad spectrum of our audience, I think the image of Roggvir's beheading is not appropriate for this article. I find it a teensy bit unsettling, and I'm middle-aged, so others who are younger and/or more squeamish may be offended or disturbed by it. Thoughts? --Xyzzy Talk 17:22, 2 November 2013 (GMT)

Taking a look at it, I agree that it is pretty disturbing. But the fact is that Skyrim is an M rated game, and you could see that same image by actually playing it. While I know this isn't actually a rule, anyone under 17 technically shouldn't be playing Skyrim. Someone is beheaded during the opening cutscene of the game, for crying out loud, and you can get a perk that allows you to behead people yourself. I don't think we need to censor the wiki in order to avoid offending some people. --AN|L (talk) 17:28, 2 November 2013 (GMT)
