Afflicted Remnant[edit]

I just encounted an "Afflicted Remnant" starting a fight near Riften. Has anyone else seen them? — Unsigned comment by 82.19.4.94 (talk) at 16:55 on 28 January 2012

Confirmed. I just saw them on my way to Whiterun Picture Evidence. There was a mage and a woman in plate armour, one of whom threw up on my horse. --IVI4tt 20:06, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
Prior to doing the quest you may (radiant) see a non-hostile Afflicted that if talked to will start the quest. After finishing the quest you may (again radiant) see a pair of Afflicted Remnant, man + woman in leveled armor, they are always hostile. I have encountered the Afflicted Remnant while the quest is active but not completed, however, I have only encountered the non-hostile Afflicted before the quest is active. Afflicted Refugee[edit]

Met a non-hostile male 'Afflicted Refugee' on the road from Helgen to Ivarstead. Had a nice conversation with him.

-

Afflicted Refugee: "Are you finished ogling the grotesque? I suppose I should be grateful you didn't simply attacked me."

Me: "Your skin... Are you ill?"

Afflicted Refugee: "I am one of the Afflicted. I'd been dead from this plague a year ago if not for Peryite's protection."

Me: "Where are you going?"

Afflicted Refugee: "Returning to High Rock. Our shepherd lost his way, and I fear Peryite's wrath may consume those who remain with him."

Afflicted Refugee: "Kesh could tell you more. I just want out of Skyrim as quickly as possible."

-

After this you'll get an entry in your journal under Miscellaneous: Find Kesh at the Peryite Shrine.

Can anyone confirm.

btw: This is my 3th playthru, and the 1st time I met the guy.

Yes, that's what basically happens. It's just a Radiant option to get you to visit the shrine, or at least alert you to its presence. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:42, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, just read the Peryite quest info.
1st playthru I stumbled over the shrine while exploring. :) — Unsigned comment by 212.238.152.31 (talk) at 18:48 on 14 March 2012

Bug[edit]

I just finished fighting two Afflicted Remnants and encountered something I have not seen at any point in time. I killed the one in armor, while my dremora lord went after the caster. My dremora lord decapitated the afflicted caster who sort of stood there with a green glow and started fighting again, headless, at full health. I did kill him and he stayed dead, but has anyone else had to fight the headless dead? I play on XBOX, btw.--Magskall (talk) 18:29, 16 October 2013 (GMT)

Afflicted Refugee[edit]

After spawning in game, where does the afflicted refugee go? Does he return to High Rock, or is he simply deleted? 109.155.58.160 20:17, 2 October 2014 (GMT)

He's deleted "when able". I'm not 100% clear on when exactly that would be, but from the description, I would guess that he just disappears either when he gets far enough away from his starting point, or you do. Robin Hood  (talk) 21:28, 2 October 2014 (GMT)

Protecting against vomit attacks?[edit]

Does anyone know if the Hevnoraak mask (or anything else with a resist poison enchant) protects you at all against the hostile Afflicteds' vomit attacks? They seem to be poison-based (since they play the poison sound effect) but I'm not entirely sure without testing it for myself. The Afflicted seem to use it periodically like a shout, so maybe wards would stop it (I know wards work on Spider/Charus venom). — Unsigned comment by 74.180.105.157 (talk) at 02:36 on 22 October 2014

Update: I tested it and it does. The attacks cause some base damage but the mask stops the lingering poison effect.— Unsigned comment by 74.180.105.157 (talk) at 12:01 on 24 October 2014
