One by one or all at once?[edit]

I have a question regarding this quest - do you have to individually give each item to him, or can he take ALL your calipers/tongs at once?

The reason I ask is that I'm stuck with the XBOX 360 version, and I can't make enough money fast enough, even duplicating and selling expensive stuff. However, duplicating calipers and tongs and selling millions of them in a single move would be.... tasty =D

I tend to burn through 350,000 gold a day when I can't leave the enchanting altar alone, and I can NEVER leave it alone on my cheated character =D and this seems like a really good way to make it, rather than duplicating and selling rings for 3k each, one at a time.

still glitching up the magicka needed to cast my ridiculous spells multiple times each without waiting for potions to regen magicka — Unsigned comment by 69.136.55.134 (talk) at 16:42 on 9 June 2007 (GMT)

Tove will take all of the calipers and tongs at once, but only once so make sure you use the scroll dupe cheat to add some extras to your inventory. So far, on Xbox, I have managed to amass around 1.75m tongs before the scroll cheat begins to mess up turning in for a heft sum of over 10 million coins --Lavadragon 16:43, 29 August 2007 (EDT)

Tongs and Calipers[edit]

Does Tove accept tongs and calipers that are stolen? — Unsigned comment by Merco (talkcontribs) at 15:07 on 15 August 2007 (GMT)

Yes, he'll accept stolen ones. And my experience is that it actually triggers a glitch where only the stolen ones are taken from your inventory, but you're given credit for both the stolen ones and the legit ones. In other words, if you have one stolen tongs and ten legit tongs, only the one stolen one will be taken but the game will act as if all eleven had been taken. (This glitch seems to occur whenever the game takes stolen and non-stolen items from your inventory). --NepheleTalk 11:53, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
I've noticed the same thing (the reason I came to this page was to ask about it). Since I'm not the only one seeing this, could I add it as a bug under the notes? Justeazy 18:37, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Since it apparently applies to more than just this quest, a more appropriate location for a description might be Oblivion:Glitches. --GKtalk2me 18:04, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Still more?[edit]

Will he still buy more after the quest is finished?Bllasae

Hmm, not sure but i don't see why he would. --Volanaro 12:38, 1 May 2008 (EDT)
No. Once the quest is over he has no further use for them. –RpehTCE 01:19, 2 May 2008 (EDT)

Ex-Caliper[edit]

I remember reading in a 2005 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly that the development team originally intended to have a quest where you needed to collect tongs and calipers to form an "Excaliper" sword, but never got around to it.
