The urn is surrounded by a dark aura
In the depths of Broken Tusk, I found a Daedric Urn surrounded by bodies. One of them stirred when I took the urn.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. Talk to Mallius Falto.
  2. Find Vaudrie in Alten Corimont.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Inside of Broken Tusk, you'll find a Daedric Urn resting on a table, with the bodies of two priests lying on the floor nearby. Inspect the urn to start the quest.

<An evil aura emanates from the urn. The room seems to darken as you approach it.>
<Reach for the urn.>
<As you reach out your hands, the room grows cold.>
<Take the urn.>

The priest to your right — Mallius Falto — will stir and beckon for aid. Speak to him. He's having a hard time staying conscious and making his thoughts clear. However, you're able to glean that the Molag Bal Cultists that resided within this shrine summoned a terrible force. He tells you to take the urn to Vaudrie in Alten Corimont, saying it will be safe with her. Mallius explains that he tried to stop them, but was captured by the cultists and tortured by the delve's boss, Naeraizozan. She bragged that Mallius would serve her master, Molag Bal.

He then asks you to take a phial of blessed water out of his tunic, frantically stating he needs a blessing. He says that the blessing of Arkay may protect one's soul from Molag Bal and stop it from being perverted. He insists that you drink the phial, as he's nearing the end of his life, and you're stronger and stand a better chance at surviving. You can either drink the phial yourself, or make him drink it and protect his soul.

Either way, Mallius dies and you need to take the urn back to Vaudrie. Exit Broken Tusk and travel to Alten Corimont. You'll find Vaudrie at the area's northern road. Speak to her to complete the quest; the conversation will vary based on the dialogue choice you made earlier. She notes that the urn is definitely cursed, and asks you about Mallius. She's sorry to hear about his death, and promises to take the urn to a holy place where its corruption may be cleansed.

If you gave Mallius the phial, she asks you if he was at peace, and is relieved to hear that he did indeed die in Arkay's grace. She then asks you to return to her if you know you'll need to face Daedra.

If you drank Mallius' phial of water, she seems touched that Mallius prioritized the well-being of others over himself, even in his dying moments. She then says she'll head over to Broken Tusk to retrieve his corpse and consecrate it. In any case, she rewards you for bringing her the urn and news of Mallius' fate.
