The entrance to the Everwound Wellspring

The Everwound Wellspring is a farming facility in the northeast of the Clockwork City run by Lector Naril. Burbet runs a general goods store on the bridge leading up to the Wellspring.

The purpose of the Everwound Wellspring is to grow food for the entire region; a tricky feat considering the plants grow in entirely artificial conditions. The actual farming labor is carried out by specialist factotums called harvesters, with standard factotums providing security in sensitive areas. Research, along with more complicated tasks, are carried out by Apprentices—young Apostles chosen annually by Lector Naril.

Sotha Sil is indirectly responsible for creating the facility, having set the wellspring and gave it a reservoir of water, with water being a scarce resource in the Clockwork City. He had intended to create an oasis, but moved onto other projects before that had come to fruition, giving Lector Naril the opportunity to learn to make actual plants grow in the artificial soil.

This is a complicated process requiring water treated with alchemical nutrients and other solutions and artificial sunlight, which is provided by using lenses, crystals, and a unique power source to create life-giving light similar to Nirn's sun.

Scattered around the Everwound Wellspring are various notes on the facility—you will likely read them during the related quest.

Entry Hall[edit]

A small room containing an elevator that delivers you to the Audience Hall.

Audience Hall[edit]

A single room with a few bookshelves and barrels. There's a door leading out to the Viewing Garden behind the central desk.

Viewing Garden[edit]

The Fungal Workshops and Gardens can be accessed through a door in the north: the way to this door is only open while there are Factotum Harvesters walking through it, so one would need to time their entry accordingly.

Fungal Workshops and Gardens[edit]

When you enter the workshop from the viewing gardens, you'll see a hallway in front of you. There's a room off to each side of the entrance containing two separate studies. The room on the right also contains a door leading to the Storage Chamber.

If you opt to take the hallway straight from the entrance, you'll find the mushrooms being cultivated by Lector Naril. A variety of hostile Factotums guard this section and the halls beyond.

The elevator at the end of the fungus wing takes you to the Sunless Garden Workshop.

The crops don't seem to be doing too well in this room. There's a massive Kagouti Fabricant rummaging through the cornfield in the center of the garden.

A single room with two elevators. Both lead to the Botanical Garden.

Botanical Garden[edit]

Trees are growing within little patches of soil suspended within water. Apprentice Ohtowen is working at a desk surrounded by cabbages. A Kagouti Fabricant stalks the halls beyond. Further through the tunnels, many saplings grow within glass biospheres suspended from the ceiling and walls. Three Factotums stand at the charging station in the center of the room, and two Verminous Fabricants are rummaging around the north side of the greenhouse.

Naril's Notes: Early Experiments is located on a desk with some potted cabbages at the southwestern end of the greenhouse room. Naril's Note: Simulated Sunlight is in the next room, on a table immediately to the left as the chamber opens up. Naril's Note: Success Out of Tragedy is on the exact opposite side of the room as the previous book: facing the exit door, you'll find the notes on a table to your right.

Simulated Sunlight Atelier[edit]

Dessicated corpses lay atop the large mechanism in the center of the room. The walls are lined with greenhouse spheres containing plants. Lector Naril's Private Workshop lies through a door on the south side of the room.
