Essential Status[edit]

In which script does Thedret become non-essential? I can't seem to find it anywhere.— Unsigned comment by 75.177.48.171 (talk) on 10 July 2008

It's a script run at stage 200 of quest ND10 (Umaril the Unfeathered). --NepheleTalk 16:12, 13 July 2008 (EDT)

Can't Find Thedret?[edit]

I completed the quest 'Wisdom of the Ages' where you get the shield of the crusader, and I freed Thedret. I talked to him and he left the fort. After I got back to the priory, that one fellow talked to me about the sword, and then I searched for Sir Thedret, because I read here that if you don't talk to him now then the blacksmith will never appear. But I can't find him anywhere! I searched the priory house, the lower level, the chapel, even the room with all the ghosties! I even went back to the fort to see if he was walking into a wall or something but couldn't find him there either. Where is he??? --ZombieRoboNinja 18:39, 23 December 2008 (EST)

Armorless?[edit]

I've finished the Knights of the Nine questline, but Sir Thedret never seemed to have gotten a proper cuirass, only the helmet and shield. Is there a reason for that? He's essential so I suppose it doesn't matter, but I'm curious. Savas 22:09, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Wrong letter[edit]

I have noticed one minor discrepancy: when searching for NPCs listed alphabetically, Sir Torolf is listed under T, but Sir Thedret is listed under S. - ZuTheSkunk 10:51, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

He was missing the altname parameter, it should be fixed now. mxk101Talk 10:54, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
He is never referred to as simply 'Thedret' in-game. I think leaving him under 'S' is appropriate (although a redirect might be useful). Legoless 12:01, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
But "Sir" is not a part of his name, it's just a title (as far as I can tell). - ZuTheSkunk 17:03, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Fair point. On further investigation it seems that all sirs are categorised as such. I'm going to go ahead and add a redirect for 'Thedret' anyway, however. Legoless 17:24, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
I think we should list him under S, since the NPC is called Sir Thedret. But its not my choice. --Archain 17:31, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Final Speech Glitch[edit]

I am having a problem with this NPC where it never finishes his speech. He stays there, waving his hands around like he is talking, but says nothing. I can even ask him to follow me around, carry him away and tell him to go back; he will go back to the exact same "speech giving" spot. Every other knight is standing outside, hearing his speech. This glitch was triggered when I waited for an hour just as he was saying his very first phrase. I am not using the Unofficial Oblivion Patch and have the game fully up-to-date as of Jan 2014. All extra content packages are installed, with no mods. Usually, all bugs I see are listed in this wiki, this is the first time I happen to have a bug that is not listed here. No one ever had the same problem? — Unsigned comment by 189.27.9.35 (talk) at 03:18 on 9 January 2014

If you waited while he was giving his speech, that might have caused the issue. Try reloading from an earlier save and NOT waiting through the dialogue this time, and see if that helps. ThuumofReason (talk) 18:28, 9 January 2014 (GMT)
I am well aware of what caused the game to glitch, I thought it was clear. Also, I am not asking for an obvious solution. I am pointing out a bug not listed here nor in any other related page, what can indicate an uncommon bug, as no one listed it.— Unsigned comment by 189.27.9.35 (talk) at 21:03 on 9 January 2014 (GMT)
It looks like I overlooked the bug, it was actually listed under the quest page. Quite different from my experience though. — Unsigned comment by 189.27.9.35 (talk) at 17:00 on 10 January 2014 (GMT)

Bugs?[edit]

There's no bugs section for Sir Thedret. This feels inaccurate, as I just finished the quest, Thedret gave his big speech and all, and I went down to the Priory basement, and now he's there, dead.

Also, another one of the knights is dead upstairs. I thought he died in battle and his body was brought back and dumped just anywhere, but Thedret came back alive and now he's dead. AndarielHalo (talk) 01:40, 27 January 2014 (GMT)
