Sneaking?[edit]

I'm in the Cheydinhal Bridge Inn waiting on Garrus Darelliun, so I can finish the quest Corruption and Conscience. Ohtimbar is sneaking up and down the stairs. It is Loredas and 12:37 pm. Has anyone else noticed him perform such actions?—StaggerLee 10:56, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

OK, he just stole some food right in front of Mariana Ancharia, and she screamed for the guards. Ohtimbar casually walked upstairs and sat down to eat the stolen food. A guard raced up the stairs and just started talking to him and walked away! I thought Ohtimbar was a dead man. Then Ohtimbar starts sneaking again!—StaggerLee 11:04, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Just tested this, and you are indeed correct; Ohtimbar will go into sneak mode and steal food at the inn, probably due to his non-existent Responsibility. I'll see if I can tweak his page. Good catch! --Krusty 11:14, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

he doesn't lose his stuff[edit]

i killed him in his bed and took all of his equipment, but it still looks like he's wearing it — Unsigned comment by 76.21.230.121 (talk) at 21:36 on 29 August 2010

You're right. I was able to do the same thing—only when he's sleeping, though. I tried on another NPC, and she lost her clothing as you'd expect. I can't see anything in the Construction Set that would explain it. Robin Hoodtalk 22:30, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't do it for me. How did you kill him? Sword, magic, console or something else? rpeh •TCE 07:15, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Happens to me as well. Keeps all his clothing on, even after you have looted it off him. I killed him with the Debaser at night, just after 1am. --Krusty 07:35, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
I just killed him with the console. I'm wondering if maybe it has to be a one-hit-kill. Robin Hoodtalk 07:54, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
Nope. In my game, he keeps on his clothes regardless of the number of hits. --Krusty 08:00, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
It's not just Ohtimbar, apparently. I was testing something entirely unrelated the other day and noticed that one of the named Imperial Guards in the IC also stayed fully dressed after I removed his armour. (Unfortunately, I can't remember which one.) Robin Hoodtalk 04:35, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
If the imperial guard was named, did he have normal, dull armor, or bright armor? If he had the latter, it might be scripted like the guards in green emporor way. On the subject of Ohtimbar, I have reproduced the glichy corpse, but when I intentionally left, and went back in (ensuring the game had to load the area) 30 seconds later, he had no armor, and appeared as a normal corpse. His body only appears to have armor after it is removed if he is killed in his bed without waking up, and done so without giving the body too much momentum, such as hitting him with a claymore. The scripting for his whole home is buggy, as he can become stuck walking against his table to get upstairs. Furthermore, if he is attacked while sleeping, he will simply heal himself, shout something along the lines of "How dare you attack me!" and then go back to sleep (This might be because I was part of the Fighters Guild at the time). I have actually gotten him frozen standing half in his bed, trying to walk back to it (surmised from his direction), and healing simultaneously. He probably froze because he was healing, because he can easily walk through his bed when stuck (by waking him with an attack). Also, he will not bother me for tresspassing when he is standing by the downstairs table, and does not react to food being taken from that table. Neural Tempest 01:37, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Missing House[edit]

In my game, Ohtimbar's house is perfectly normal on the inside, but when looked at from outside, it consists from his front door and a floating gray exclamation mark. Tried to fix it, even reinstalled Oblivion, but it doesn't help. Does anyone know a solution? FallingKnife 12:41, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Dialogue error?[edit]

Ohtimbar's dialogue option "Cheydinhal" produces dialogue only about his time as an arena fighter in IC (that is, he never talks about anything in Cheydinhal when this is selected). This is noted in the article obliquely. I just assumed that this was a holdover from Bethsoft's original plan to have an arena in every city. Shouldn't this be considered a bug? The expectation of a dialogue option titled "Cheydinhal" is that he will give info about Cheydinhal. 71.200.142.255 22:51, 18 January 2014 (GMT)

I get where you're coming from, but I really wouldn't consider this a bug. There are other characters that when asked about the city they live in, their responses really don't provide the player with any information about the given location. Some examples I could find quickly include Cyronin Sintav, Palonirya, and Brotch Calus. Similar to Ohtimbar, these characters provide information about themselves rather than the town they live in. There are many other characters like this as well, who tend to elaborate on their initial greeting about themselves or provide more information about themselves when asked about the city they live in.
