There is a glitch in the game where if he's standing near you in Hackdirt and you fast travel to another town he will show up next to you then begin to make his way back to Hackdirt. (xbox 360)

Attacking[edit]

Moved from main article:

When I first met Natch Pinder he followed me around town and was very hostile. After renting a bed in town and sleeping for a few hours, Natch woke me up and attacked me! I, of course, had no option but to kill him. HOWEVER, upon going outside, Natch attacked again... alive. After searching Natch I found bonemeal on him. The second time I killed him there was mort flesh. I began to believe him a zombie of some kind. Soon afterwards, about FIVE Natch Pinder's came over to me and attacked me and my horse, Shadowmere. One Natch, though, was different as he had WHITE hair. I didn't get a chance to talk to him. He was attacking and I had to kill him. Once he was dead, though, I grabbed his key and entered his house (during daytime hours) only to find "ghost-like" music and an empty and dirty house. I have not completed my search of his house, but once I do I hope to figure out Natch's little secrets of his "zombies". [Please add any info.] — Unsigned comment by Houselover4ever (talkcontribs)

I believe you have met the Hackdirt Brethren rather than 5 copies of Natch Pinder. –RpehTCE 03:15, 30 April 2008 (EDT)
If they were all named Natch, it could be a rather large bug where the Bretheren's name were replaced with Natch...the Mort Flesh and Bonemeal though is a bit interesting. I hope you aren't makeing this up for a scare tale.
I just went into Natch Pinder's house it did have the dungeon music but it definatley was not empty but it was dirty but Bethseda made it like that but for the Natch copies they were bretheren but bretheren carry random ingredients on themJay480 05:34, 14 August 2008 (EDT)
Natch follows me around town as well, going wherever I go. I haven't advanced far enough into the quest to determine whether the events you describe will happen to me.

?[edit]

What would cause him to end up in Skingrad? I fast-travelled there after arriving in Hackdirt and only staying a moment, and there he was in th' big city, issuing me his warning as if we were still in Bumblef*ck. 75.47.98.125 07:01, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Found him laying dead near Moslin's Inn[edit]

Before I began the related quest I visited Hackdirt for the second time and I found him laying dead on the ground near the Inn. I have no clue what happened because I never attacked him and he never attacked me, he was just there dead for no apparent reason. Then out of nowhere a group of Brethren starts attacking me for no apparent reason. Maybe they were the ones responsible for killing Natch? Or maybe they thought I had killed him? --99.102.231.100 10:44, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Same happened to me. I raised him to 59 disposition, then went visiting his home. When i came out, he was standing dead on the floor, and seconds later a Brethren appeared out of nowhere and started attacking me --94.167.2.28 18:50, 16 June 2011 (UTC) Mauro

Is he set to follow the player on the "surface"?[edit]

Haven't done the quest associated with hackdirt yet, but everyone hates me as is expected since they hate outsiders. I noticed though, that he follows me everywhere in the town. I know all NPCs are being rewritten, so just wanted to point it out. Edit: he stops following you after you go a certain distance from the village. But if I fast travelled while he was still set to follow, he teleports with you and doesn't stop following wherever you fast travelled to. dtm 09:30, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

This oddity happened to me on my very first playthrough, so I just tested it, without starting the quest or even visiting Chorrol for the first time. Seems like Natch will leave you alone UNTIL you have asked one of the citizens about Hackdirt. He will then make sure to escort you out of town and resume his usual wandering. You are then free to reenter town without him following you - until you ask about Hackdirt again. Fast traveling bug confirmed too - when he is in the process of "escorting you out", he will fast-travel with you. This definitely deserves a mention, although I'll see if I can get through to some CS experts for the conditions - thanks for pointing it out. --Krusty 10:21, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Natch's first AI package is to follow the player as long as the player is in Hackdirt (the parent cell - that includes everything starting with "Hackdirt", including the caverns, houses, inn, etc) and somebody has detected you. I can't see anything else that would stop him doing it though. rpeh •TCE 10:33, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed. It happens when you are detected, and has nothing to do with asking about Hackdirt. Really, really odd. As soon as I back away from Hackdirt (e.g. behind the Chapel) he loses interest and stops following me. As for fast-traveling, I have him near Brina Cross Inn right now and he still follows me. If I back away from him (some fixed distance I guess), he just walks all the way back to Hackdirt. --Krusty 11:44, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
The fast travel thing should probably go on the glitches page because it's now pretty much confirmed. I imagine he stops following when you leave the cell or something like that. rpeh •TCE 11:46, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
If Natch is the only Hackdirt citizen with this bug (which reminds me of Restita Statlilia who probably has the same package) it could be noted on his page as well. While Restita does it for no apparent reason, at least Natch has an excuse. To avoid any more talk page posts on this matter, we could more or less copy/paste Restita's note to Natch's page. --Krusty 12:04, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

killing natch[edit]

I recently came across hackdirt and pillaged the whole village. In doing so, I killed him inside the hackdirt inn and his body never disappeared. I waited a month in game after taking his belongings, and left a single iron arrow. If I'm not the only one experiencing this, should he be labbled a "safe container"?Alter333 (talk) 07:02, 15 June 2014 (GMT)
