I know this shouldnt go here, But still. I have a Video I made of the scroll glitch and i was wondering if i could have someone put it here

heres the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nxnt7oUB79g — Unsigned comment by Kingfifi (talkcontribs) on 6 August 2010

Yea, sorry for editing this, I have no idea really where to put it, this is for a glitch on the 360 also. I was suspended for a second time by the mage's guild because i'm also in the thieves' guild. I'm still able to continue down the mage guild questline, i've finished the wellspring get a staff quest, but I can't go any farther because I have no access to the university. I was suspended, I paid him the 20 dragonteeth and redwort flowers, but apparently i'm not part of the guild anymore cause when I pickpocket, steal, or kill, they don't kick me out. I have no mage guild key, and everytime I enter the university lobby, or a mage guild building in the cities I get immediately booted out. Anyone know anything about this glitch? Please let me know. mikahakuaki@hotmail.com

Skingrad Prison Bug?

Whenever I leave Skingrad Prison, there are some three random people just standing there, dressed in Steel and Chainmail armour. It's a bit odd because sometimes a fight breaks out and three people start to battle each other, and because of that now only one is left. I'm not sure who these three people are, but i'm pretty sure it's a glitch that there waiting outside the jail— Unsigned comment by 213.107.186.105 (talk) on 6 August 2010

You just run into a bug associated with this quest. See here, here and here. --S'drassa T2M 01:02, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
I've come across the same thing. and for me its not JUST the skingrad dungeon, its ANY dungeon. all they do is stand there. WTF? and I dont know how they have anything to do with that quest because I have beaten that quest and then those people are gone off to parts unknown. — Unsigned comment by 76.27.101.32 (talk)

Serious Bug with Maglir - I cannot rest or fast travel

When I was doing the quest when I had Maglir as a helper (I think it was the den of thieves or something) I accidentally got in to a fight with him after hitting him. He wouldn't yield, so I just knocked him unconscious and walked off. The problem is, every time Maglir woke he wanted to kill me, and even with a powerful charm spell Maglir wouldn't yield. I had to continuosly knock him unconscious and it was getting really annoying, so I left the cave and fast travelled before Maglir woke up. But now something has gone wrong. The danger music keeps playing even though Maglir isn't anywhere to be seen. I can't fast travel or rest because "there are enemies nearby" and whenever I go near any npcs they suddenly bring out a weapon and start walking around saying "Where are you" or start saying things like "Who's there?" (as if they were a hostile bandit in a dungeon) meaning that I can't talk to them as there too interested in killing Maglir(Or it says they are fleeing). This is getting really annoying. I have returned to Hrota cave and Maglir isn't there. Everywhere I go the danger music is playing, and I can't get away from it. I'm really not sure what's happened, but this is serious. I desperately need a fix. — Unsigned comment by 213.107.186.105 (talk) on 6 August 2010

See here for details. --S'drassa T2M 01:02, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Fixed! After ages of trying loads of things, I finally discovered Maglir stuck "Inside" a rock due to a glitch. I had to use a paralyze spell with a really long duration to knock him down. I then ran away, quickly went to jail and it was fixed. Fortunately, Maglir isn't stuck in the rock anymore aswell. — Unsigned comment by Yoblivio (talkcontribs) on 25 August 2010

Pickpocket related bugs

Gonna repost this here, perhaps it's a more appropiate place for it. (from the Sneak discussion page)

"I don't see any mention of these glitches but they might be worth noting. I found these both myself, but please do tell if it's been found before. Now, first one is this... if you want to pickpocket an item and not get the stolen flag on it, one can reverse pickpocket a lockpick, torch, or any other zero-weight item onto the 'victim'. Without exiting their inventory screen, try and pickpocket whatever item you're going for. If you succeed, the item you have stolen will not be marked as stolen and can be sold to vendors. This works in the PC version and the 360 version. This can also turn out to be the only way to not have the stolen flag on some items, I believe.

This second glitch is something I found recently. What you do is pickpocket everything you can from an NPC until you have nothing to pickpocket from them. Next, what you do is very simple. Just press the left key on your keyboard and you'll take the very clothes on their back, weapons also. This is essentially like pressing "take all", something you're not supposed to do when pickpocketing an NPC. There doesn't seem to be a chance of failure at all, they'll be left naked. I don't think this can work on the 360, because I don't see how you could press a button that isn't there, unless the left input on the D-pad can do it, or the take all button...

These two glitches can be beneficial, and could perhaps be mentioned on the page. I'm not much of an editor really.

I ran Oblivion with only Darnified UI running. Started a new game and tried the second glitch I mentioned on the emporer, got all his clothes, the amulet, and his silver shortsword. None of the blades cared, neither did the Emporer. Can someone give it a shot if they're not running Darnified UI? I also tried doing it on Glenroy, I got his katana but not his armor. Perhaps because it's marked as unplayable. Testing this on a Dremora seems to confirm my suspicion."

Yeah, they might be interesting. But like I said I've heard no mention of these glitches elsewhere. -ShadownetN 16:15, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

I just tested the second glitch, and I can verify (sorry if my validity is questionable, since I'm not registered) that if an NPC's inventory is empty and the player is pickpocketing them, hitting the left arrow key on the PC version will take their equipped items. This is a very comical glitch, as I tested it on Archmage Traven. He was saying, "What? Did you just... just take that?" in his underwear!
Oh, and yeah, I'm running Darnified DarkUI, but I seriously doubt it has anything to do with any mods. Nice discovery, ShadownetN. 72.94.190.169 05:26, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Further testing of this "Left Arrow Glitch" has shown that when interacting with a container, it essentially acts as a "transfer all", not just "take all". This is interesting to me because if you are storing things in a container and you hit this button, it will move everything except quest items from you to the container. This includes gold. I can see one useful application of this glitch. When doing the main questline, and you must join the Mythic Dawn... know how you can't gather back your gold? Then don't give any away!
But beware! THIS COUNTS AS FORCIBLE REMOVAL OF EQUIPMENT. I noticed that while wearing the Boots of Springheel Jak and performing this glitch, I was stuck with the +50 Acrobatics and the inability to "equip this item at this time". 72.94.190.169 06:39, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Are you using any mods or anything? With an unmodded version of Oblivion, bypassing OBSE's launcher, the only thing that happens to me when I hit the Left Arrow is that the selected tab changes. Robin Hoodtalk 20:40, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Doesn't work for me either. A Google search suggests that DarkUI messes with the arrow keys somewhat (making the game "select" something when they're pushed). - Bomb Bloke 11:49, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
(ShadownetN here, forgot my password like a dumbass) Ah, exactly what I feared. Shame. Thanks for checking. 174.3.43.221 14:35, 23 September 2010 (UTC)

Random Loot Bag

Upon fast traveling to the Imperial City Waterfront, I found a loot bag that was not there last time I had been in that location. I also hadn't dropped anything in the area in a LONG time. Thus, I don't know how a loot bag would have been put there in the first place... But, there's more. The loot bag has one item in it... a wanted poster. The one that hangs on the walls with the big picture of the Grey Fox on it that you USUALLY can't get into your inventory. I can take this one from the bag with no problem, though if I drop it it acts like the wanted posters usually do -- I can't take it again, only read it. There's one more oddity in this story. If I drop the poster, in addition to not being able to take it or grab/move it, it floats in midair, allowing me to STAND on it like a platform.

Anyone have ANY clue how the heck this happened? I'd take a screenshot of my chameleon'd character standing on the poster, because it looks absolutely hilarious (like he's on a miniature magic carpet :P), but I'm on the 360, so I can't :(

P.S.: Is there any way to remove a loot bag by reducing the number of items on the ground or something?-- /\/\oses 01:56, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

I don't see any bags in the Waterfront District except the one next to Puny Ancus, so you'll have to be more specific about where this bag is. I'm not sure what you mean about removing loot bags. Robin Hoodtalk 21:39, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
See OB:Glitches#Loot Bags.--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 22:46, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for that, TAO. I'd forgotten about that behaviour! Robin Hoodtalk 23:11, 14 August 2010 (UTC)
I understand what loot bags are, what I don't get is why one would appear when I haven't dropped anything in the area in a LONG time, and why there would be Wanted Posters in them, which usually cannot even be removed from the wall. Also an update, there's now a second random loot bag like 10 feet from the first one... :/ -- /\/\oses 23:26, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

same thing just happened to me, the bag is located just after you cross the bridge from the mainland to the waterfrunt with the bloted float to your left and the pirate ship to your right with a single item in it the wanted poster, this is very confusing, i have never come across this befor on my other playthroughs

I've tried to create loot bags before, but it never works. I've duplicated multiple items in the same area many times, and it gets so laggy I can barely walk, but no loot bag. Does it have to be many different types of items? Can you tell me about how many items it takes? Just curious. --The Grey Arrow 21:46, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Duplicating Harrada Root

Dont duplicate Harrada Root, I tried it and my game crashes everytime. I used 202 arrows to try and duplicate them. Im playing on the 360 so i dont know if it happens on the PC — Unsigned comment by Gabe896 (talkcontribs) at 11:08 on 13 August 2010

Since this relies on another glitch, it doesn't constitute a glitch in and of itself. Robin Hoodtalk 21:26, 14 August 2010 (UTC)

Perhaps a footnote, maybe. Anyways, Harrada Root works for me. Using the duplication glitch causes a lot of other "glitches" though. For instance, using the scroll dupe glitch I can make any item stay in place and jump on them (kind of like the paintbrush glitch). But if you save and reload it fixes and all the items drop. Its kind of funny watching it rain Daedric Armor and Shields. MikeTalk 11:00, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Duplicating Harrada Root is hell, this is not a glitch, its because game engine can't manage that many big and complex objects one on top of the other. 10 at a time is the very maximum you should try. Besides, try duplicate thing in bunch if you don't want your game to crash, more than 200 things will be nightmare to recover and a risk to crash even with small items.

Dead but alive Imperial Legion Soldier on horse glitch.

I was on the Blue Road to Cheydinhal. I ran into an Imperial Legion Soldier on a horse. I attacked his horse with shock spells but he, instead of getting off the horse and arresting me, he stayed on the horse. When I killed his horse, his horse fell on the ground normally, but his dead body, fell on the ground in the same stance it had while on the horse. I went near him to loot his gold, but before I could loot his body, my character automaticly looked at the ground right next to him and the arrest dialogue started. I resisted arrest, he said "then pay with your blood" and then he started attacking but I could'nt see him. Did any of you had the same problem? --Rigas Papadopoulos 17:33, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

I've had a similar problem before, near a junction that's on the Blue Road near to Cheydinhal (must have been near his patrol area). I instead tried to talk to him about Rumours to see if any quests were added, and the arrest dialogue started. Sure enough, when I resisted arrest he jumped off his horse, turned invisible when he touched the ground and I spent the next five minutes fighting thin air. It's amazing how tough the Legion can be when you can't see them -:) Spikelovesmetal 20:08, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

This happened to me when he was on a horse on the way to arrest me, I paralyzed him, he and his horse fell to the ground, i ran up and started beating him, then suddenly he started the arrest dialogue while on the ground, and the body stayed there while an invisible form attacked me. ----The Grey Arrow 21:36, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Corpses equip items?

Alright, maybe this is a one-off, but whenever I store loot on Corpses which can equip it, they do, so long as a leave the cell before coming back. to make sure this wasnt just a case of confusion, I took some black finery from SI, and equiped it on a bandit who I had slain and taken the glass armor from. I fast traveled to the market distrcit to sell the loot, and returned to the Vilverin Bandit camp. Lo and Behold, he had equiped the Black finery. Anyone else experience corpses putting stuff on? 184.77.194.254 23:13, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

I have experienced the same thing, I've noticed it most with weapons. It also seems to list weapons twice when this happens (once equipped, once unequipped), but clicking on either instance removes both instances. 69.54.136.40 05:31, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. Like entering a cave, or casting a spell, or killing animals or people, these little balls that incircle your character and don't go away. If so what causes it and how can it be fixed. (75.91.31.250 22:15, 25 August 2010 (UTC))

This often happens for me. Sometimes if I take an item a npc has equiped it will equip another item. MikeTalk 11:02, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Same here. I had killed a guard and when i came back later at night, he was wearing the clothes a guard would wear at night while he was sleeping. I think his AI package was still going. (=-=)

P.S. This is my first post thing............. Rocker101x 02:20, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

I can confirm that some dead NPCs do equip items in their inventory IF you take the clothing from them that they were wearing. I have noticed this mostly with Lucien LaChance, in the case of his equipping "back-up" clothes when you take his Black Hand Robes from his body. As a side note, I have also experienced this happening with some Mauraders, in the way that they will have a cuirass AND a shirt equipped at the same time 24.222.66.21 09:38, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Rainfall

Another infinite money glitch

If you have The Vile Lair Official Plug-In, you will have access to Purgeblood Salts near the Fount of Renewal. Although they themselves are worth nothing, the potions they can be used to make are worth money. So for a Master of Alchemy, you can exploit the first bug listed in the article for Purgeblood Salts to quickly acquire hundreds of restore Magicka Potions which can then be sold to a merchant for loads of cash. For those not yet a Master of Alchemy, finding other ingredients with which the salts can be combined can significantly increase the number of potions one can make for the purposes of selling them for money. 69.54.136.40 05:28, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

This can not be considered an infinite money glitch because if we take this way, you can consider an infinite money the fact that if you are a Master of Alchemy, you can buy Rosethorn Hall and hire Eyja, and ask for food (she gives you Shepred's Pie) and make Cure Disease potions and sell them. As I've said earlier, this can not be considered an infinite money glitch wich means that your "glitch" can not even considered a glitch. You should write that at the Vile Lair page. --Rigas Papadopoulos 08:06, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Count Hassildor glitch

(originally posted on Archive 5: here)

I am doing the vampirism quest, and I have run in to an annoying glitch. When I got the potion, I talked to that Argonian. She said wait, so i waited, then I got bored so I left. Then just outside skingrad on the big bridge on the east side of town something weird happened. Count Hassildor was (and still is) there, as well as that the witch from Drakelowe. If you talk to them, they would say the usual npc greeting like "Go ahead" or "I'm listening" but their mouths wouldn't move and they would have nothing to talk about, no rumours or anything. I tried attacking them, but it didn't help as all it did was get me a small bounty and cause them to "flee" and come back to the same place. Please help!! 213.107.186.105 10:47, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Duplicate Bound Items (Glitch Extension)

This is an interesting extension of the permanent bound items glitch I stumbled upon. For this example, I'll use the Bound Helmet - but this presumably works with any weapon or armor.

1) Save when the Bound Helmet spell is active, but you aren't wearing a Bound Helmet.

2) Load. A new, removable Bound Helmet will immediately spawn on the player.

From here, you can repeat the process: quick load, drop, quick save. You can end up with dozens of bound equipment in under a minute. This is very useful for equipping many followers in a short period of time.

Scroll Duplication on Xbox 360

Just tried this. The scroll duplication glitch still works, but it may have suffered some side effects after the most recent patch. I tested this on the Weatherward Circlet and a few other items thus far. (If you're not above a little larceny, you can easily amass five Scrolls of Alluring Gaze around the Imperial Market.)

  • (1) Will not work on stolen goods. However, the scrolls you use can have the stolen flag.
  • (2) Won't work if it's something you're wearing; you must unequip it.
  • (3) Won't duplicate stacks, so if you only have five scrolls, you can only make five dupes at a time.
  • (4) Works on potions, ingredients, and at least some Misc items (like repair hammers), but not Alchemy equipment (like Mortar & Pestle).
  • (5) After making 100 duplicates of the Circlet, I can no longer equip the original. I was able to somewhere along the way, after only 20 or so, but it would seem that making too many duplicates makes the item unwearable, so don't dupe something you'll miss. (I get a message saying, "You cannot equip this enchanted item right now.") I will try setting one in a container apart from the dupes.
  • (6) I was unable to make duplicates of Debaser, but I could dupe a simple Club (that was fairly purchased). Preliminary results seem to indicate you can't dupe an enchanted weapon.

SonGoharotto 22:37, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Some of this is wrong. Also, some of the things you've noted have been explained elsewhere. Here's a little feedback on what you've come up with:
  • 3. This note isn't wrong, but it is a bit hard to understand in its current state.
  • 4. It will work on Alchemy equipment. I just duped an entire set today. There are only very few items that will not be duplicated through this method. Typically, if something isn't duping, simply selling it to a merchant and repurchasing it will make it dupe-able.
  • 5. What probably happened here is you were wearing one of the rings when you duplicated the item at some point. See the Permanent Enchantment glitches.
  • 6. Enchanted items are absolutely dupe-able. See my response to 4.
--Darkle ~ Talk 04:42, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
  • 3. This one is also wrong, unless you mean the if you have five scrolls and a stack of 10 items you won't end up with 50. Last night I got 150 paintbrushes by duping a stack of 25. Duping a stack of 10-30 Sigil Stones or other large items will avoid lag that would otherwise occur. Also the fact that I got 150 is strange because I was using a stack of scrolls that only had 147-148 in it. Why would I then end up with 150 brushes? Is it because the scrolls themselves were duped?--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 13:17, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
I took it as, if there is a stack of 5 and use two scrolls, you'll merely drop two items and not ten, in other words, two stacks of 5. Which would be right. Like I said, the sentence was phrased funky. But, yes, you can dupe items that are in stacks, but you'll simply get the same total number of items as there were scrolls. --Darkle ~ Talk 04:42, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

I've found that if an item doesn't dupe the first time it usually does on the second or third. This is the case for me with enchanted weapons and such. One of the things i have problems with is filled Black soul gems; the duplicated items disappear along with the original when you attempt to pick them up resulting in less BSG's than when you started. This may have something to do with them not stacking in the inventory, I don't know.Datacaust 19:44, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

If you want to dupe an item, remember that it MUST be at 100 % health. this means if you have a high armorer skill, you will have to go to an npc armorer. Stolen items cant be duped via scrolls but can be duped (with flag removed) should you use one of the more complex methods (daedric items ftw). Also, there are a few items that are not stolen that cant be duped, usually ones that have scripts associated with them MikeTalk 15:42, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Clarification on Fortify Alchemy Glitch

The page mentions that Fortify Alchemy effects don't work, mentions that the Frostcrag Spire effects works and then mentions that the Glitch has been fixed by the Unofficial patch. However it has no indication of what it was referring to, making it seem like the patch "fixed" the working Frostcrag Spire effect. Would it be possible for someone to clarify what the patch fixes for clarity?

From the Frostcrag Spire article:
"The Altar of Alchemy is located upstairs in the living area. It increases your Alchemy skill temporarily by 15 points when you are standing at it (the ability is named Alchemical Brilliance). This is the only Fortify Alchemy effect in the entire game that actually works, i.e., it really does allow you to produce more powerful potions and poisons. (The difference between this effect and all other effects is that it is implemented as an ability rather than a spell effect; abilities modify a skill's base value not just its current value)."
Thus, fortify alchemy effects OTHER THAN the one in Frostcrag Spire do not work. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch fixes the bug, allowing all fortify alchemy effects to work.   -- Moses 04:23, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
However this article is not clear on this, when it should be and this creates unnecessary confusion.

Loot Bag

On the GotY version, no matter how many items I drop a loot bag will not show. I dropped one of every armor, one of every weapon (all enchanted ones to btw, yes, I have all generic ones) and about 3/4's of the ingredients used in alchemy. Just to see if I can get a loot bag, but, to no avail. No loot bag. Can someone test this on vanilla version of it? Perhaps a Patch changed it. MikeTalk 10:57, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

The section on permanently cloning yourself with the Skull of Corruption mentions that you can loot your clone. Launched into the sky when closing oblivion gate

Hi everyone, seeking clarification on something I experienced tonight on my PS3 copy of Oblivion GOTY. I have been unable to find this glitch mentioned anywhere else and is a particularly unusual one that seems to require specific circumstances to activate, therefore making it hard to activate.

I have been replaying again and been working my way through the story line. Whilst closing the Bravil gate, I decided to run up and grab the sigil stone rather than fight every daedra off. After grabbing the stone, I was surrounded by three draemora and a daedroth. as the gate was closing I was hit by one of them with a paralyzing spell. Rather than reappearing where I entered, I was shot straight up into the air to roughly the height used when talking to Pelinal Whitestrake and for fighting Umaril, only, above Bravil. Needless to say the fall killed me.

I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this glitch either on console or pc as I have encountered most at one time or another but never this.

thanks

La Kias 22:32, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

While I haven't heard of that specific issue happening, I've read of—and personally experienced—a few different oddities occurring when something abnormal happened while an Oblivion gate was in the process of closing. The most common one I've come across is the gate simply failing to close and you're stuck there, but there have been other oddities as well. You're not alone! :) Robin Hoodtalk 23:07, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, Oblivion gates are buggy. I've noticed that sometimes there's an invisible box around them before or after you close them. Kinda weird but they do have a lot of chances to mess up.--TAOHuh? 22:51, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

"Imma Living Statue!"

I've just learned that Oblivion has some limit of how many NPCs with full AI it can support. When this limit is passed, additional NPCs can be found standing in one place and doing nothing, until there's some free AI spot. I've encountered this bug in ordered Fringe - Knights can be found in statue state, not moving, not responding to my attacks (even though the battle music plays) and not even playing an idle animation; all what they do is just occasionally turning into my direction (without any animations). It appears to happen also for Aureal/Mazken soldiers and their commander, but they still can look at me and talk with me (if I'll activate them). They *do* wake up after some time, but it can take even a minute. Has anyone encountered similar bug before? - ZuTheSkunk 21:16, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

I have, but this is with followers from mods, sometimes if I get separated or something else random happens they'll become statues. I've tried killing them, but that just makes them teleport erratically every time I move, or they'll just fall over like a felled tree.
