"Disposition"[edit]

Comment moved from main article (same reason as on Oblivion:Command Humanoid--I'm just not sure if it's true). --Eshe 18:49, 24 September 2007 (EDT)

If you cast this spell on a friendly creature, after the spell is over the creature might attack. For example, the Dark Guardian in the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary will attack you after the spell wears off.— Unsigned comment by 67.163.143.18 (talk) If you use it on the Sewer Rat at the end of the tut, you must be a wood elf or use the console to get the spell, but, if you go to jail, it will be waiting for you.

Mehrunes Dagon[edit]

With the 'magnitude 25' version of this spell, which works on any creature (or human, if you make the same spell effect for that), does it affect Mehrunes Dagon, during light the dragonfires? Also, are any creatures or humanoids affected by the spell when it is at magnitude 25? --Merco 14:53, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

I'm pretty positive that command humanoid/creature would not affect Mehrunes Dagon, and yes you are able to command any humanoid with a magnitude 'up to lvl 25' spell.--Willyhead 15:45, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

Hostile?[edit]

This spell is listed as 'non-hostile', but I was attacked by a deer after this effect was cast on it and then expired. On the other hand, casting it on my horse has never resulted in the horse becoming hostile. Is it possible that this spell includes some sort of Rally effect? The Horse page mentions that this spell will cause purchased horses to fight for you... since they are already friendly towards you this suggests that Command Creature is actually making them 'braver', which might also explain the deer attacking instead of fleeing. --67.82.60.36 17:56, 18 April 2008 (EDT)

permanent Command Creature spells[edit]

i heard about permanent Command Creature spells and i wont to know where i can get one.12.78.25.38 03:55, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

You can't. There's no such thing. –rpehTCE 06:36, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

This was briefly referenced to in the roleplaying page. Are you certain it's impossible?

Spell magnitude and animals level[edit]

What magnitude should have the spell to command Spriggan's Black Bear? I'm failed to find any info about animals level in game. How to check if my spell is weak for the bear or troll? With spell command creature lvl 15 for 20 seconds and spell effectiveness 92% I was able to command only dog, troll and bear killed me :( I'm level 9 now (using FCOM). Should my spell effectiveness be 100% to cast the spell, or i need to have magnitude up to lvl 25?193.227.231.23 10:19, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

The creature articles currently give no level for the creatures, so you can't see what magnitude Command Creature you must use. It's something that has been on the to-do list for adding for some time. As for the summoned Black Bear, its level is 7. --Timenn-<talk> 16:16, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Commanding enemy summons[edit]

Commanding enemy summons can be tricky. I added some info on the main page, but would like to add something here, as most of what I am going to say is based on my experience only and requires further testing and confirmation.

Sometimes if you cast command on a creature summoned by enemies they will turn against their former masters, but sometimes they will continue to attack you. This is probably due to the fact that a commanded summoned creature feels allegiance and hatred both towards you and its former master and it seems it will select its target based on the proximity. So if the enemy is closer to its summon, it will usually switch targets and attack its former master. This only matters for the first 3 hits. Afterwards the summoned creature will "lock" on the new target and proximity doesn't matter any longer. Even better, if the summoned creature dies, any further summoned creatures will attack its former master right away, as soon as you re-cast Command Creature, there will be no further confusion.

Using Calm for 3 sec. prior to casting Command helps somewhat, but the problem is that casting Command on Touch will effectively break the calmed state. Since Command on Touch requires you to be in the immediate proximity to the creature, it will decide to attack you, unless you run away very quickly after commanding and position yourself in such a way that the summoner appears right between you and its summoned creature.

It is much better to cast Paralyse, as this gives you more time to run away after commanding, leaving the enemy summoner closer to its summon. When paralysis wears off, the summon will get up and attack its former master.

Since most summons are very low level (they are NOT levelled after the player, their level is preset, so e.g. a Xivilai clannfear is lvl 11), the spells are very cheap. I recommend the following spells:

Paralysis for 3 sec in a 25 feet area

Command Creature on Touch on all summoned creatures, use appropriate levels, no need to cast lvl 25 command spell on a clannfear that is level 11. Use appropriate duration, 45 seconds for a Xivilai clannfear etc. Run away (not very far, just a couple of metres)

Some enemies like summoned skeletons cannot be paralysed, because they are immune to paralysis. In such a case, use calm or weakness to magic followed by drain fatigue for 3 sec, which is equivalent to paralysis, if you drain fatigue down to 0.

The interesting thing about summons is that summoners will not attack their own summons, so if a Xivilai summons a clannfear and you command it, the clannfear will attack its former master for 45 seconds without any retribution.

If Xivilai run out of magicka, I recommend actually replenishing their stunted magicka by casting:

Fortify Magicka 40 points for 60sec

Either it gets absorbed, which is good, or it hits, which is also good, as it gives the Xivilai enough magicka to summon another clannfear for you to command WRFan 18:23, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

I've moved this tip from the article:
It is sometimes possible to command creatures summoned by enemy spellcasters to turn them against their former masters. This is particularly useful if the enemy has either a Reflect Spell or Spell Absorption effect on them. In such a case it is far easier to command a summoned creature that will then kill its master through melee than to try to break through the innate spell absorption (Liches are a good example). However, due to a bug, commanding a hostile summoned creature will not always work. Sometimes casting the spell several times will help. Also, turning invisible after casting the spell will usually cause the summoned creature to forget about you and attack its master, at which point you can disable invisibility and not worry about being attacked by that creature. Do not summon your own creatures if you are currently commanding a creature summoned by an enemy, as your own summoned creature will turn on the commanded creature, effectively rendering both of them useless.
This is so equivocal as to be useless. "Sometimes" possible; "not always work"... this needs proper testing and rewriting so people can actually make use of the advice. rpeh •TCE 06:31, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
By that same logic I am taking out the post: *Taking command of enemies' summoned creatures can be very effective. The player steals a "pet", placing the enemy summoner at a disadvantage. If the summoner is then killed, the commanded creature simply vanishes. Clearly more testing needs to be done but at the very least, the statement taken out is no longer true since it isn't as easy or often possible, as the "tip" implies. dtm 10:05, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
I made a summoned creature attack its humanoid master to the death by Commanding humanoid master for only 1 second. Simple as that.

Can I leave the bear behind somehow?[edit]

Ok, so I commanded a bear. After the 7th spell cast it became boring. As a pacifist, I shall keep my "creatures killed" and "people killed" at 0. Can I leave it behind, with it non-hostile to me? Thanks. 85.230.118.138 17:03, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Use calm or demoralize spell on it, use that time to run away from it. Razor 17:55, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
