Bug[edit]

I've had the Bittercup raise attributes above 100 more than once, and I've also had it raise two attributes instead of raising one and lowering the other. Just now it raised my Personality from 55 to 115, and my Agility from 59 to 79. Should we document this bug? -Itachi 19:40, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

I just tried it again, wearing the Right Fist of Randagulf, which fortifies strength by 20. My strength was 84, but I was wearing the gauntlet at the time, so it appeared in my menu as 104. When I drank from the bittercup it was raised to 124, and when I removed the gauntlet it was at 104, with no other fortify strength effects active. -Itachi 19:50, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Looking at the script I can't see any set limit for the attribute increases. That would explain your experiences, so you were correct fixing that on the article. --Timenn-<talk> 22:30, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

(u/d) I can't get the cup to increase any attribute over 100 in either the vanilla or fully-patched games. I've tried with two different characters on both versions, and tried with and without attribute-boosting equipment. The reason the script doesn't check for limits is that it uses the ModStat set of functions which won't advance an attribute over 100. Try it in the console for yourself:

player->SetStrength 90
player->ModStrength 20

Your strength will only be 100.

I don't know how you got the results you did, Itachi, but it's not from the Bittercup itself, unless you have a mod installed. rpeh •TCE 17:17, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Fallout 3 reference?[edit]

"There is a female character in Fallout 3 located in "Big Town" named Bittercup, she was raised in Little Lamplight with the other children, who are kicked out at the age of 18 for being adults, or "Mungos"." Should this be here? It has nothing to do with the Elder Scrolls series or Morrowind. APSX3427 04:25, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

No it shouldn't. People keep adding this kind of thing though. I've removed it. rpeh •TCE 06:35, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Indeed, "Bittercup" is a word that's bit too common. I do want to express that I think that references from Fallout 3 shouldn't be discarded right away though. If Fallout 3 makes a direct and serious reference to the TES series, I think we can include that (e.g. the Sweetroll) somewhere). --Timenn-<talk> 14:30, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Morrowind was made before fallout 3, so claiming that bittercup is a reference to fallout is impossible. I have large experience with Fallout 3 and in my opinion, the two are completely unrelated. I fail to see a solid connection between the two at all.--71.91.73.168 18:36, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

It's a reference IN Fallout 3, not TO Fallout 3. And it's by the same people who MADE Morrowind. He's saying that Bittercup in Big Town might have been named as a slight reference to the Bittercup of the Elder Scrolls games.

Regaining the Bittercup after using it[edit]

I used the Bittercup by mistake once (I was trying to staighten it when I used it as a decoration in Ahnassi's house) and thought it was gone forever. It wasn't. Just a few minutes ago, I checked an old Overflow loot bag that was lying around to see what I had missed when I first tried clearing it out. I scanned through the various odds and ends it contained to see if I wanted to use any of its contents to fight Dagoth Ur ... lo and behold, it contained the Bittercup! I'm not sure if this is just a one-off or not, but I s**t you not, it happened.

This is because the cup isn't removed from the game via SetDelete from Tribunal. It's just hidden with Disable. It's still there sitting on the ground since you didn't actually pick it up. If you're in a cell with a loot bag, and it gets moved to the loot bag, it'll be visible in the container. Since the script returns quickly in MenuMode, it'll function just fine when you move it from the loot bag to your inventory. Because the "gone" flag is reset to 0 once it's set and the cup is disabled, you can probably drink it a second time using this method. Nightstrike (talk) 05:58, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Clavicus Vile Association[edit]

Is there any lore about where the cup came from or it's purposes? — Unsigned comment by 184.153.147.44 (talk) at 17:58 on May 10, 2011

Pretty much everything on the Cup is on this page. It is not mentioned anywhere else. --DKong27 Talk Cont 00:35, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Clutter?[edit]

Why is this artifact also categorized as clutter? Wouldn't you think that the categories would be mutually exclusive? Marlos 15:22, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
