Present/Past[edit]

Concerning the Mages Guild, shouldn't the text be rewritten into the past tense, as the Guild is no more? ~ Dwarfmp 00:20, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps. But using the same logic, shouldn't most articles concerning Morrowind be written in the past tense as well? The Infernal City destroyed things which have been in the games since Arena, so the existing lore articles haven't yet played catch-up. A lot of lore articles are also transcluded into gamespace, and the tense template has a pretty limited vocabulary. But your correct, the Mages Guild page should eventually be rewritten in the correct tense. --Legoless 00:48, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Well yes I can only assume there are plenty of similar cases, but I noticed it here just now. While we're on the subject, I was surprised to see the Mages Guild doesn't have its own Lore page, I'm sure there's a lot more to write about it. That would be your area, no? Additionally, there's no link to the lore on the Oblivion page, which is weird I think. Just wanted to let you know ~ Dwarfmp 00:58, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
See, Lore:Mages Guild somebody must of accidentally forgotten to link it like the rest when he fixed this problem originally. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:00, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Edit: Oh look, the problem magically resolved itself! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:01, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Ah, I see :) Well I still think it's short, or is that just me? I'll add a link on the Oblivion page ~ Dwarfmp 01:18, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
It's quite confusing, having e.a. Mages guild under M factions, but also its own page, but no links to each other, and both are in the Lore domain. Sorry, I'm not too familiar with the Lore section obviously, argh. ~ Dwarfmp 01:37, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Trust me, this used to be much more confusing than it is now. It took me a while to get used to transclusions as well so there is no reason to apologize. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 01:58, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Mercenary Guild is a Spook[edit]

I think Mercenary Guild should be deleted from the factions page. In the context of the Daggerfall Chronicles source, the "Mercenary Guild" is logically meant to be the Mages Guild or Scenarists Guild and not some independent thing like the capitalization of the term could suggest. For real though, the text is so objectively so thrown together that it is really confusing to break down into lore. What are yalls takes?

"Night after night, Nesmyt hallucinated. Powerful images of decadence, destruction, and wantonness interrupted any chance that the latest acolyte of the Mages Guild could peacefully sleep. Unbeknownst to Nesmyt the Scenarist Guild existed hundreds of years before his tortured path to membership just completed a few weeks ago. Guild pecking order had changed slightly, but Nesmyt’s acolyte status was so base. Sneers and disrespectful physical gestures were commonplace ever since the induction. Exactly what caused this snooty behavior was unclear. One thing did remain continuously crystalline -- Nesmyt would never ascend to an important guild post or assignment until he pledged fealty to Vychamp, the Mercenary Guild’s self-styled leader. The chances of this occurring was about a zillion to one, for Vychamp has emasculated Nesmyt’s children in a fit of jealous rage over our hero’s pristine helpmate."
