South Guard is a port town found on the Quin'rawl Peninsula in the province of Elsweyr. Ideally, it serves as a trading hub on the Topal Bay alongside the nearby city-state of Senchal. However, when the fires of the Knahaten Flu had spread across the coastal region, it left the town in ruins, turning it into a den of thieves and criminals that live by stealing from others.[1]

History[edit]

When the Knahaten Flu occurred in 2E 560, it left the local Khajiit in utter pandemonium and fear, resulting in mass fires that spread across the coastal region of the Quin'rawl Peninsula. It was meant to quell the sickness that continuously spread, but it left the region in ruins and South Guard ablaze. Ever since then, the town was inhabited by the local smugglers and vagabonds, turning the once prosperous trading hub into a den of degenerates.[2] As the fires ravaged South Guard, the merchant-lord, Turo used the chaos to trap his competitors in their warehouses, leaving them in the destruction. Eventually, he had attained the power to take claim over the town. Since then, he has reigned over the South Guard Ruins as their kingpin.[1]

By 2E 582, Turo remained the town's leader and operated the slave trade with his militia, the Black Gulls. His reign of terror came to an end when one of his citizens, Daini made an attempt to escape South Guard with her friends, with the help of a wandering adventurer, the crimelord was stricken down in his fortress in the central part of town.[3]

During the Imperial Simulacrum in the late Third Era, the village of South Guard had been revived and was an active settlement once again. It was ruled by Lord Akh'soud and had a rivalry with Markgran Brook.[4] South Guard was neighbored by several settlements, including Darvulk Haven to the west and Senchal to the east.[5]
