The Gottshaw Inn and Tavern[1] is a remote inn located along the Gold Road, within the province of Cyrodiil. It is directly west of the city-state of Kvatch. Though it may be an insignificant lodge, the Gottshaw has historically been a part of the Gold Coast, from as far as the Interregnum in 2E 579.

History[edit]

During the Interregnum in 2E 579, the Gottshaw Inn was the site of a decisive battle between the twin cities of Anvil and Kvatch. For quite some time, Fortunata ap Dugal, recently-named Provincial Governor of Anvil had attempted to negotiate with Carolus Aquilarios over their assimilation into her growing empire. She had taken advantage of their growing isolation, ever since the Soulburst and disappearance of Varen Aquilarios. After every failed attempt, Anvil's talks of negotiation became more underhanded, disrupting the trade flow on the Gold Road near Kvatch. Eventually, Carolus had dispatched the Kvatch Warders to get rid of the Red Sails, but every time they did so, they came back tenfold, increasing their efforts. When the Governor announced that Kvatch would be forcefully annexed into her government, Carolus had sent his highest-regarded soldiers at the wall, all the while, her Red Sails gathered at Gottshaw Inn. When the Kvatch Soldiers pushed back the Anvil Raiders, they were quickly surrounded by the pirates. What came after was the Gottshaw Massacre, which had forced Carolus to swear allegiance to the Gold Coast.[2] Gottshaw Inn remained in ruins ever since.[3] But as of 3E 433, the Gottshaw Inn had been restored and continued their business as usual.[4]
