Image version[edit]

This version of the image is the one that Wikipedia uses on its own version of the {{hiddencat}} template. This image was uploaded specifically for that template. Please provide a proper rationale for replacing it rather than YOU thinking it looks better. It doesn't. rpeh •TCE 01:16, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

You should take your own advice, rpeh, because that icon looks like crap. And frankly, I don't care what Wikipedia uses. That icon looks a lot better and matches other icons we use. It is nice to see you reverted my change under a false-summary, since you seem so intent to revert anything that I do edit. Anyway, please provide a proper rationale for replacing it rather than YOU thinking it looks better. It doesn't. –Elliot talk 02:29, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
No, I reverted it the first time because you hadn't provided correct copyright information. I reverted it the second time because, after consideration, I preferred the one I uploaded - an image I chose because I used WP as a reference. I used two different reasons because I had two different reasons. You have no reason to make further pointless changes. Either take it to the community or drop the discussion. rpeh •TCE 03:09, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
I cannot drop a discussion I didn't start. This whole entire "follow WP when it conveniences me" is getting rather old on the wiki. We should let other members input, since you by no means own the template or that image. –Elliot talk 03:12, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Follow WP when there is no existing policy has been the standard on this wiki from before either of us joined it.
In this case, as in so many others, you have chosen to impose your own standard with no regard to other people. I created the template based on the existing WP one after a discussion in which I specifically referred to the way WP handled hidden categories. You steamed in and changed an image with no consultation and no consideration. You even uploaded the image at a different resolution so you had to change the template.
Now, tell me, who is acting for his own convenience? You need to learn to respect the wiki. rpeh •TCE 03:18, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
The concept of the template is hardly relevant to its appearance. You seem to have imposed your own standard as well. You need to learn to respect other people. And uploading larger images is preferred because it maximizes the flexibility, so that is hardly relevant as well. Also, policy and image appearance are not the same. Yes, we base things on policy, but where is the policy saying that that image has to be on that template? Take your own advice, because it is a considerable double standard. –Elliot talk 03:24, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Please don't presume to tell me about image policy - I have uploaded more images than anybody else, and other users routinely ask my opinion on what makes a good image, so I think I have a pretty clear grasp of what's required. In this case, uploading an image at 200x200px is stupid when it's only going to be displayed at 64x64 (or 50x50 now). Do you really think anybody will ever need a 200px version of an information icon? As for respecting other people: respect is earned. You have never earned it. rpeh •TCE 03:39, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
From you? I haven't, nor have I ever sought it. And icons are different than game images. The only thing they have in common is a mere label of "image." For now it will only be displayed then, but if you save it for the future, then you never know. But you just said we copy Wikipedia, and Wikipedia does that, so obviously you think we should do our own thing in many aspects. None of this says that your image is better than the one I uploaded. It still looks like it was made in the 90s. –Elliot talk 03:52, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Well now you're just lying and I have the IRC logs to prove it - you asked for my approval after your last set of pointless image uploads that replaced the warning, stop and other icon images. I advised you to link to the page from which you took the images (for copyright purposes) - something I see you still haven't done. Since you're now reduced to the level of lying, please don't bother me any more. rpeh •TCE 03:59, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
