What's with all the Dremora?

Is it correct that most of the NPCs in Dragonborn have their class listed as "Dremora"? That's really weird, and likely to cause a good deal of confusion, especially since it's the Dremora class as opposed to the Dremora race, but they'd wind up in the same category because of the way the NPC Summary works. I hope this is just a case of somebody copy/pasting the template from some NPC who actually is a Dremora, and not a weird oversight by the devs, because that's going to be a bit of a headache if that's the case... It's actually an issue that started with Dawnguard (see Skyrim talk:Alvide and Category:Skyrim-Dremora). Before that, any Dremora class occurences were us not understanding NPC templates. As noted on the DG talk page, those NPCs really have the Dremora class, it's not a copy/paste error on our side. And I don't think it's really a dev oversight, the classname is never displayed ingame. Can we maybe edit the template to make the class category optional then? Because they're being put in the same category with actual Dremora, which I think is just confusing. Either that, or somehow make a category distinction between Dremora race and Dremora class, so they don't all wind up in he same place. Well, they are really Dremora (or it is what we get for displaying internally only used names and expecting them to make sense). I guess if we really want, we could call that class something like "Default" in the infoboxes, that would address both issues. We did something like this with races. We use "Altmer", "Bosmer" and "Dunmer", but it is "High Elf", "Wood Elf" and "Dark Elf" when looking at the names used in the game data. --Alfwyn (talk) 14:11, 11 December 2012 (GMT)

As discussed and decided on the CP, when an NPC's class does not fit with their description in normal gameplay, we should simply add notes to the page saying "<NPC> is a member of the <ClassName> class, which determines the level of his/her skills."

However, the issue of categorization is one that should be addressed. Can we have it use Dremora (class) for those who only have that class and aren't actually Dremora? — ABCface^◥ 17:36, 11 December 2012 (GMT)

Okay, so I went and created the Category:Skyrim-Dremora Class and Category:Dragonborn-Dremora Class categories, and changed all the non-Dremora NPCs to use them instead. It has the minor downside that the class name that displays is wrong for these NPCs, but it also means we only need to explain that discrepancy once, on the category page, rather than on every NPC page that uses it. One curious thing I noticed was that the Dremora class is NOT used by any actual Dremora. They all have other classes as far as I can tell. Not sure about the generic Dremora summons - would have to look that up. But for sure none of the named Dremora belong to this class. Might have to change the description from "not all of these NPCs are actual Dremora" to "none of these NPCs are actual Dremora"... TheRealLurlock (talk) 14:28, 13 December 2012 (GMT)

2 hostile enemies

I encountered two random hostile characters in the wilds of Solstheim - not sure if they were generic or should be listed.

One was called "Redguard" and was wearing full set steel armor if I recall. The other was called "Wood Elf" who was a leather armor clad archer/mage with a summon Frost Atronach spell.

They both seems quite high in level. My level 81 vampire Necromage character couldn't use Dead Thrall on the Wood Elf as he was too strong.

NPCs like the Taunting Adventurer appear in gameplay as the name of their race, so I'm guessing this is a similar situation. In this case, the name "Taunting Adventurer" is actually taken from the name of the world encounter in game data. In order to figure out who these NPCs are that you encountered, and how to label them, we would need details on any unique dialogue they had or items they may have been carrying (e.g., the hired thugs carry specific notes that no other NPCs carry). The more specifics we know about the encounter, the easier it will be to find the relevant information in game data. We probably wouldn't want to make a page specifically for the "Wood Elf" or "Redguard" that you saw, because the game uses radiant traits and stats so often. — ABCface^◥ 22:42, 18 December 2012 (GMT)

I remember the Taunting Adventurers, but the Redguard and Wood Elf didn't have any dialogue like them. They were hostile on sight. I used Pacify on the Wood Elf and he only had generic dialogue like "Need something?"

The only thing of note I recall in both their inventories was an "Potion of Ultimate Healing". The Wood Elf also had an unenchanted Glass Bow if that's any help. I was level 70 and 81 when I met them. --Jimeee (talk) 11:42, 19 December 2012 (GMT)

Okay, thanks for the info. Once Dragonborn comes out for PC and game data is more readily accessible, it may be easier to look into this and see if it's a new world encounter and whether these NPCs always have the same traits or if they are radiant. For now, we'll probably want to hold off on creating pages for them until we know more. — ABCface^◥ 19:21, 19 December 2012 (GMT)

The Retching Netch

It should be mentioned, possibly by the *, that Ralis Sedarys relocates to the Retching Netch if his life is spared. In similar fashion, Niyya does too. Madman
