Ildari did it.[edit]

The article currently mentions an unnamed sorcerer as the reason behind Carius' revival, however right above the bag where you find the key to open the door to get to him, there's one of Ildari's journals which pretty much explicitly identifies her as the one responsible. Just thought I'd point that out. 76.178.164.214 07:09, 9 December 2012 (GMT)

There is now a very insisting editing towards explicitly giving Ildari Sarothril the blame for General Falx Carius' condition. Though I find it quite possible that can have been meant to be, there is as far as I have gathered still only indications, and as such only speculative claims and original research, which I believe is strongly discouraged here at the UESP wiki. I might be wrong in believing there is no direct evidence, and that is why I ask for more explicit evidence that there is a connection between Ildari Sarothril and General in general, and that Ildari Sarothril is to blame for the zombie life of the General in particular. —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:48, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
There is a journal called "Ildari's Journal" that explicitly describes raising Carius. Jeancey (talk) 20:05, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
Yes, and that is a good circumstantial evidence. I see UESP credits it to Ildari Sarothril too, but is the author given in the game? —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:20, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
It's called "Ildari's Journal". Know any other Ildaris? Vicano (talk) 20:35, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
Given that they are both added in the same DLC, it is unlikely that they used the same name to refer to two separate people, especially when one of them is a major antagonist of one of the DLCs main storylines. It would be like naming two people Ulfric, or two Ciceros. Jeancey (talk) 20:39, 1 August 2013 (GMT)

() Yes, and they are strong circumstantial indication, though no concrete evidence. I even believe there might have been the plans of Bethesda to establish that Iladari of the journal is Ildari Sarothril, but as far as I can see they did not complete that. Whether or not that was a mistake is speculation, so then it is a speculative conclusion.

As for reusing first names, that has not been unusual in TES games. Even though Bethesda has been more careful to avoid it in Skyrim, there are still here too (like two Mogrul, one added by Dawnguard and one Dragonborn), so that also is just a circumstantial indication.

What I believe should have been done is to add notes that they might have been meant to be the same, but there is no concrete or direct evidence it is. —MortenOSlash (talk) 04:56, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

There is zero reason to doubt that this is Sarothril's doing. What other Ildari do you know of that has an innate knowledge of heart stones? Unless Neloth taught two apprentices with the same name, there's no way a random mage would know what she was doing. —Legoless (talk) 05:03, 2 August 2013 (GMT)
I believe it was intended to be the same character. Even so I did not think it has been fully enough implemented for it to be sufficiently beyond doubt, but as the majority of the contributors do find it sufficient, then I have no strong feelings about it. —MortenOSlash (talk) 15:30, 3 August 2013 (GMT)

Necklace[edit]

According to game data it looks like his necklace is called "Gold Necklace", but it is a DB specific variant with editor ID DLC2HeartstoneNecklace. How does it appear ingame? --Alfwyn (talk) 14:23, 13 December 2012 (GMT)

I just killed him and he had no such necklace on him. All he had was a key and the hammer, no armor or necklace. Verification of what is required for it to appear?--Dro'Bakha (talk) 02:36, 20 December 2012 (GMT)
Thanks. According to game data, the necklace is not playable, so wouldn't appear to loot. Just wanted to make sure that the mention of the Heartstone Necklace wasn't based on looting him and me misinterpreting something. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:54, 21 December 2012 (GMT)
Ah well in that case I have a feeling the Necklace is what gives his armor a unique appearance. On the chest of the armor is a large glowing red stone, which I'm guessing is the Heartstone.--Dro'Bakha (talk) 22:28, 21 December 2012 (GMT)

Armor[edit]

I can't seem to obtain his armor but this site says that it can be reinforced. So, is it obtainable? Because if not then knowing what to reinforce it with is kinda useless info. 69.251.19.71 06:14, 5 January 2013 (GMT)

Known information is documented from game data, and this is the norm for all items, even those which are unobtainable (see this section which includes tempering info for several items in the table). If none of these Falx's equipment is normally obtainable by the player, then a note should be made on the pages where they're documented, but the tempering information is still accurate and should not be removed. — ABCface 07:00, 5 January 2013 (GMT)

Roof Enterance[edit]

Not a big deal but you don't need to use whirlwind sprint to enter by roof top. I just jumped from one roof to the other to get at the trap door that lead to General Carius. --Zar Pof (talk) 13:59, 8 February 2013 (GMT)

Extremely powerful![edit]

I wonder how can he be so powerful, my character has 730 health, 650 armor rating, 79% resist magic and 50% resist fire, frost, shock, yet after just 1 hit from Carius, he only had about 10 health left. Even the Ebony Warrior can not deal that much. Any idea?117.5.17.149 06:48, 4 March 2013 (GMT)

I fought him on Legendary difficulty and I'd have to say he's the toughest s.o.b. I ever fought. I only got 500 some health compared to you, near max resists (elemental and magic), very high block level and all of the important shield perks. That sucker will take me out with 2 blocked power attacks with the shield. A regular swing doesn't hardly do anything when blocked. An unblocked power attack, I get 1 hit K.O.'ed every time. I beat him on my second try, but I wanted to reload and keep fighting him because I felt there was something special about him. He is so fun and challenging. I just wish he spawned without the bone ashes with him. I could use a paralyze sword on him, and spam marked for death and 1 shot him, but what's the fun in that? Anyway, from what I've read on here, Carius has SkullCrusher (Rank 2) and Barbarian (Rank 4) and his "Level" is PCx1.5 which probably contributes greatly to his power, giving the fact that he's ignoring half of your armor, has a 1 in 8 chance of possibly doing 75 elemental damage on hit, and doing double damage on master and triple on legendary. That's probably is why he's so strong.--Spakattack (talk) 04:09, 28 March 2013 (GMT)

Pickpocketing his Heart Stone[edit]

I can't test this on my current character, but can you kill him by pickpocketing his heart stone, like the Briarhearts? — Unsigned comment by 188.101.119.170 (talk) at 09:51 on 31 March 2013‎

Unmasked[edit]

Could there please be an image of his face? aka without his helmet on? — Unsigned comment by Tamriel&Sovngarde (talkcontribs) at 16:04 on 26 May 2013

We display the NPCs how they appear in the game, so if he never appears in the game without his helmet on, we wouldn't add a picture of him without it. Same reason that all 3rd party mods should be disabled prior to taking screenshots to upload, so that there isn't anything in the pictures that isn't in the official release of the game. Jeancey (talk) 18:09, 26 May 2013 (GMT)
Well I remember on the Fallout New Vegas wiki when if characters had a mask on or something covering there face, there would be an image of them with their full face shown. — Unsigned comment by Tamriel&Sovngarde (talkcontribs) at 07:17 on 27 May 2013
This wiki is more strict in certain areas than other wikis, so it's normal for another wiki to have a different setup from this one. As for the picture, you can see what he looks like yourself if you have the PC version of the game, or you could perhaps ask someone on the forums to get one for you (not to post on the wiki, but simply to help with your own curiosity). Otherwise, you can just wait and see if someone decides to add one in a comment here. But there's no reason for it to be posted on an article on the wiki, as it doesn't occur naturally in-game. — ABCface 15:29, 27 May 2013 (GMT)
On Teldryn Sero's page here on the UESP it shows a picture of him without his chitin helmet on, so I don't see what the big deal is against Carius unmasked. — Unsigned comment by Tamriel&Sovngarde (talkcontribs) at 20:32 on 27 May 2013
Teldryn Sero is a potential follower and you legitimately take all his armor and give him new ones, so at some point his full face would be visible. Another difference is that Teldryn's face is fully covered by his helmet, you can already see Falx's face in his picture. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:38, 28 May 2013 (GMT)
