Rune spell?[edit]

Although conventional wisdom would suggest that this is a typical summoning spell, it in fact seems more like a rune spell, as the Ash Guardian does not follow and casting creates a visible rune on the ground which the Ash Guardian does not leave unless an enemy approaches.

Perhaps the page should reflect this somehow? E nigma (talk) 08:51, 11 February 2013 (GMT)

Morevoer, the caster can have the Ash Guardian rune in effect and also summon another Ash Spawn and perhaps other summons as well, though I've not tested that yet. E nigma (talk) 09:03, 11 February 2013 (GMT)
Having just tested it, I can confirm a couple of things. First, even though it has a rune underneath the creature, it is not a rune spell. Second, it does not count against your conjuration limit. I just had a fire run, ash guardian, and two dremora lords all active at once. The spell seems to last until the ash guardian is destroyed or until the cell resets. I tossed one outside Lakeview Manor (where the enemies like to spawn) and came back a couple of days later to find it gone. Quillan (talk) 21:16, 21 February 2013 (GMT)

No limit for conjured rogue Ash Guardians?[edit]

They aren't affected by the summon limit, so is it possible to conjure endless hostile ash guardians without an heartstone in the inventory? --178.1.201.239 09:56, 23 July 2013 (GMT)

Sadly, no. The spell is still affected by its own conjuring limit, even though Twin Souls doesn't affect it. So even rogue Ash Guardians will be replaced immediately upon casting again. I just tried to raise an enemy army and I only got one at a time. CookiesRiot (talk) 23:45, 8 August 2013 (GMT)

Effect of Dual Casting?[edit]

Is there any benefit to dual casting this spell? I would guess not, since it seems not to have a magnitude of any kind, but either way, it might be worth adding a note to the article. Username12345 (talk) 07:10, 8 January 2015 (GMT)

Command Daedra[edit]

Has anybody tried to use the "Command Daedra" on the ashguardian. If this method works, it could effectivly replace the heartstone and make this forgotten spell actually usefull — Unsigned comment by 2.247.242.192 (talk) at 10:50 on 20 July 2017

Found a bug[edit]

1. Sneak 2. Summon Ash Guardian without heartstone 3. Stay hidden until you are hidden again. 4. Once he is no longer hostile (red dot disappeared in compass), he will remain nonhostile to you! Forever and ever until you provoke him again. He will still attack all previously summoned creatures, but not newly summoned creatures.

You can use dual casted Pacify instead of staying hidden. — Unsigned comment by 64.203.14.29 (talk) at 04:45 on 17 January 2018‎

Kills (and assaults) made by an uncontrolled Ash Guardian are not attributed to the player[edit]

Might be worth pointing out that attacks and kills made by a conjured (uncontrolled) Ash Guardian do not register as the player's kills on the General Stats Menu. More specifically, any attacks or kills made by a conjured (uncontrolled) Ash Guardian will never trigger an increase in the following stats: People Killed, Animals Killed, Creatures Killed, Undead Killed, Daedra Killed, Automatons Killed, Bunnies Slaughtered, Assaults, Murders. Therefore, this spell can be very useful for a player who is trying to go through the entire game with 0 on all those stats, which might be possible using a combination of Sneak, Illusion spells like Harmony, Frenzy, Pacify, Invisibility etc and Conjure Ash Guardian in scenarios where the game forces you to kill something in order to proceed (eg. retrieving the Dragonstone from Bleak Falls Barrow). In fact, I'm currently in the middle of such a run right now. Sundar 11:09, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
