Quest accessibility by Reputation or Level?[edit]

Seems that the quests are not based on reputation but level instead. I keep getting quests that require reputation > 60 even though I'm new to the knight's of the dragon. Posted anonymously on 06:58, 30 July 2009 by 220.67.72.122 (Uniblab 12:13, 30 July 2009 (UTC))

Can you crack open your savegame and verify your current reputation and level with the dragon knights? --Uniblab 12:13, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

Armor rewards[edit]

There's something wrong with the armor rewards, I recently advanced to the rank of Gallant and received an iron pauldron instead of a steel armor piece. My guess is that quests as well as armor rewards are based on your level, instead of reputation/rank. When I first joined up Knights of the Rose(I guess I was level 3 at the time) they already sent me on 'the crazed mercenary' quest, I didn't do any missions that might have altered my standing with any of the knightly orders before that, just some tasks for the Fighter's Guild.

I'm level 5 now, again, rank 2, Gallant, and the quest I last received was "The Exorcism", supposedly a quest you can only receive on rank 5 and up. -62.21.0.55 06:45, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

It's all written on this page.
  1. Your reputation with a faction determines which quests you can get, not your level or your rank within this faction.
  2. The armor rewards depend on how many promotions you have received, first promotion iron, second promotion steel and so on.
--PLRDLF 00:15, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, I advanced two times, from Aspirant to Squire (1st) and from Squire to Gallant (2nd), so according to point number 2, I should receive a steel armor piece and as I said before, I received iron. Just checked my rep with the order, it's exactly 46. I'm sure it was lower when I received the Exorcism, since I've completed some more assignments after that. I also received the Eternal Rest quest a few hrs ago. Coincidentally, when I got The Exorcism, I was level 5 and Eternal Rest on level 6, it just so happens that the minimum rep required to get those quests divided by 10 equals the level I had when I got said quests. Maybe it's a matter that needs some looking into.
Other factions, like the temple or the Fighters Guild were giving me assignments according to my rep. -62.21.0.55 11:02, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, it seems you did have a point there. I've tested it myself and the quests really depend on your character's level (at level 8 you get all quests and at level 7 only up to the artifact quest regardless how much reputation you have), pretty strange compared to the other factions. I've never noticed this, however I always had a rather high reputation with the Orders when I joined them. The armor rewards depend on the rank you have been recently promoted to. I've tested this for all ranks and added the infos to the rank table. Again I've never noticed this by myself because my characters always skipped some ranks when they were promoted.--PLRDLF 21:38, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

() Any further developments on this? If the promotion reward takes level instead of rank into account, it could be a good way of gaining multiple pieces of adamantium or ebony. Or, perhaps both are taken into account so that the lesser of your PC's level and faction caps the reward. - Tlist 16:38, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

I did some of my own trial-and-error runs with these armor rewards to see what was going on. Most of the ranks are NOT level-dependent, meaning that your low-level PCs will see some unusual materials if they manage to rise high in these factions. There's one rank that IS dependent on character level, though, and could be cheesed into giving you very rare rewards like Silver armor if you are a collector. - Tlist 14:53, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

crusaders[edit]

In the online guides and docs for Daggerfall, much attention is paid to the individual knightly guilds of each temple (Knights Mentor for Julianos, Maran Knights for Mara, Order of the Lily for Dibella, etc.) versus the actual knightly orders in some kingdoms (Knights of the Wheel, Order of the Raven...). It's easy enough to find the kingdom knightly orders and join them, but I've never been able to figure out how to join an order of temple knights. I know they're treated like the temple as far as ranks and benefits go, but how exactly can you join one instead of joining the temple itself? I've talked to everyone in the temple and every offer to join just puts me into the general 'temple membership' category. Can a player actually join a temple knight guild? If so, how? Who do I talk to, or how do I join that part of the temple instead of the general category? — Unsigned comment by 71.203.54.59 (talk) at 14:30 on 9 October 2012‎

From what I've learned of the game they don't exist as individual entity but are always part of their temple. Maybe It was intended during the development that they should be special groups with special services quest etc., but this was dropped in the final game. In every temple you can find at least one guy/gal who looks very much like a knight, these were probably the people associated with the templar orders. But you can only talk to them and nothing more, or they provide some temple service in the final game. Sentinel City is the only place, at least from what I know, where you can find a templar order the "Knights of Iron" (Sentinel City is handcrafted by the way). But even when you join them you will only be a member of the Resolution of Zenithar.--PLRDLF (talk) 23:54, 9 October 2012 (GMT)

Bugged Quest?[edit]

Daggerfall.png

I need help, so I am hoping this is okay to post in the discussion thread. I am not sure if this quest is bugged or am I supposed to break into the dungeon under the Castle Daggerfall (especially odd since this is really early in my playthrough). 67.86.32.90 03:33, 14 February 2013 (GMT)

Castle Daggerfall can be a quest location too, in such a case only "Daggerfall" shows up in the quest-text since map location and the dungeon's name are always identical. However this location is selected very rarely, I've done certainly hundreds of dungeon crawls over the years and got this location only twice or at most three times. I didn't embark on these quests however, but used the quest location cheat once to verify it was really the castle. And another note, the text indicates that this is a 3rd party quest, so there is no guarantee the quest will work in the end but you can try.--PLRDLF (talk) 22:28, 14 February 2013 (GMT)

Quest: The Princess[edit]

I want to do all Quests of the Knights Order, but the Quest The Princess never appears, also when I start a new Game and try it as a level 1 Character. Need I Reputation for the Vampire Clan of the Region, to get the Quest or what can be the Problem? --Daggerfall is the best game what was ever made! (talk) 20:15, 29 March 2014 (GMT)

The quests are randomly chosen when you try to get them. To ensure you get it, join a knightly order, save right next to a quest giver, ask him for a quest, and load back to it until you get the desired one. As a side note, this strategy should be implemented before talking to any quest giver, to avoid really bad quests. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:22, 29 March 2014 (GMT)
I think you have to be in a smaller city, they don't give it in big cities like Daggerfall. — Unsigned comment by 108.74.188.164 (talk) at 02:12 on 16 July 2014 (GMT)
It shouldn't matter what size the city is. In fact, it's rare for small cities to have Knight Orders in them, so larger cities are pretty much the only places you CAN get the quest. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 12:19, 16 July 2014 (GMT)
I'm just saying I don't think you can get this quest from MAJOR CITIES such as Daggerfall, Sentinal, and Wayrest. You need to go to a different town, WITH a knightly order and get the quest. — Unsigned comment by 108.74.188.164 (talk) at 23:22 on 15 September 2014 (GMT)

Free House instructions[edit]

On the page, it suggests that if you want a good house, you save before receiving your free house (that part is good advice), accepting the house (obviously), and then exiting through the door that leads to the inner courtyard, then levitating/climbing out to go and check out the house. What is the point of exiting by that door? — Unsigned comment by 106.69.218.201 (talk) at 17:35 on 18 July 2014 (GMT)

That's a good question, and I can't really see the point of all that myself. Unless there's some strange bug that prevents you from going to your house normally (which I'll acknowledge is possible, this game is full of strange bugs that haven't been fixed), I don't see the point in saying you can't just leave by the back door. Zul se onikaanLaan tinvaak 18:32, 18 July 2014 (GMT)
It doesn't matter which door you exit from, I've seen the location after leaving through the main door or through the courtyard. However, the location refused to appear on my map at first. The only way I was able to get its location was to exit the game completely, then load the save prior to asking the seneschal for the house. Tried it many times (because I kept getting bad houses), and it worked every time, no matter which door I left by. Echo (talk) 07:02, 20 February 2017 (UTC)
That suggestion is in case you do get the house at a location you find acceptable and don't need to reload the saved game. It's just a little shorter to that exit than the main door, that's all. No real difference. Caeldor Cousland (talk) 04:21, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
