Welcome[edit]

Hello Holomay! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! –Eshetalk 20:24, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Hey Holomay! Those images you've been uploading rock :). Thanks for all your help, and keep up the great work! eshetalk 17:12, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh, thanks a lot! Keep on rockin' ... ;-) Holomay 17:57, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

It's a small thing, but...[edit]

You know that categories aren't templates, right? Unless it has {{}} around it, it's not a template. Not that it matters or anything, I just noticed you've been doing that in your edit summaries for a while, and it's a minor pet peeve of mine. Nice work, though. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:16, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Sorry, it became part of a routine flow that usually included "removed cleanimage template". I guess that's how it crept in. The correct terminology would be "added category declaration", right? --Holomay 15:33, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Most of us just say "added category" or "+ cat" or something, but it's not really important. We still knew what you were talking about ;). eshetalk 15:54, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Oh hey, while I'm on about categories, you might want to look into this nifty gadget we have called HotCat. If you enable it in your preferences, you'll actually be able to add the categories to your images as you upload them. This is totally up to you though, so if you don't want to use it, that's fine. I'm a big fan of it myself, so I just thought I'd let you know! I'll quit bugging you now ;). eshetalk 16:19, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice! I had to finish my last uploading session in a rush (and, once again: "template" in a summary where it was not supposed to be ...), but I'll check out HotCat asap. --Holomay 18:36, 12 May 2012 (UTC)

Cicero?[edit]

Hey Holomay! I just noticed your new image for Delayed Burial – I wonder if you’d help me decorate the upcoming VIP NPC page for Cicero? Of course, you will have to have saves all over the DB quest line – the page looks good so far (check here) but will need lots of images before launch. So, what do you say? --Krusty 18:08, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for asking! I'd be glad to help, but I haven't started the DB quest line yet. I can watch your sandbox and inform you as soon as I have the needed saves. --Holomay 18:42, 30 May 2012 (UTC)
No problem! Don't be upset if I end up asking another image contributor - that Sandbox can easily spoil the quest line for you, and there's tons of images needed all over the wiki. It will probably be another week of sandbox work before the text is ready, so that's more or less the time limit. Out of curiosity: What quest lines have you completed -and do you have saves between quests? --Krusty 19:56, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
After I found myself to be Arch-Mage while I could still hear the echo of my first knock at the College gates, I decided to take it easy on the guild quest lines. I don't want my characters to be the boss of any faction too early. But I'll be finishing more quest lines soon. As for saves ... between quests? Between doors!! It's ridiculous obsessive thorough. I have a similar amount of saves for Morrowind and Oblivion + expansions. So feel free to make any image requests. I just won't be able to take the DB images within the next few days - of course I'll not be upset if you ask another image contributor! :-) Holomay 03:30, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

UESPWiki:Image Requests[edit]

Hey, Holomay! I just thought I would point out the new Image Requests page which has now been launched. Since you're being used as an example on the page, and a notable image contributor on the wiki, I figured I'd let you know it's a real page now. Also, I thought I might suggest adding the page to your watchlist if you're interested in being a regular contributor to the page. :) ABCface 21:22, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, Alphabetface! I've been watching the page since it had been but a tiny grain in your sandbox. :-) Holomay 09:03, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Lore Link[edit]

Howdy, Holomay! Thanks for your work recently in the lorespace and elsewhere. I just thought I should let you know how some of the links operate in Lore; sorry if it's old news. When a page or part of a page is transcluded into another namespace (or it has the potential to be it), we try to have that transcluded text display links specific to that namespace whenever possible, so Oblivion pages will link to other Oblivion pages, Skyrim pages to other Skyrim pages, and so on. We do this mainly through the use of two templates: {{NAMESPACE}} and {{Lore Link}}. The NAMESPACE template just automatically fills whatever namespace the text is currently appearing in. This can sometimes create red links, however, so that's when the Lore Link template is best, as it will link to the Lore page by default if there is no page by that name in a namespace. For examples, see some of the links here and how they display in the Skyrim namespace. Okay, sorry to talk your ear off; have a good one! Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 19:38, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks a lot! That's very welcome information. I'll probably have more questions regarding Lore space soon. Oh - and could you have a look at this? --Holomay 22:31, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I'm stuck. What is the benefit of using the {{NAMESPACE}} template when {{Lore Link}} does the same and prevents red links? Looking at your edit of Lore:Corpse Preparation v I, I can understand why you did not touch Morrowind or Elsweyr. These should always link to a Lore Page. But why is Temple a Lore Link and Argonian (which appears red here, on a User talk page) a Namespace link? I guess when the penny drops, it's going to be embarrassing, but I need to ask nonetheless. --Holomay 07:46, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
I could've either used NAMESPACE or a Lore Link for the Tribunal Temple link; I used Lore Link mainly because it's easier to type. Also, it saved me the extra second of checking to see what namespaces the book appears in. I knew it appeared it Morrowind, but I wasn't sure at that moment whether it had appeared in Oblivion or Skyrim. If it had appeared in one of those namespaces, it wouldn't have mattered since I used Lore Link and not NAMESPACE. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 08:17, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Images of unused NPCs[edit]

Hey, if you wanted to get images of those unused NPCs, I've finished the sandbox, so the whole list is there (except for three that I'm uncertain about). I'm not sure when it will be launched, but if you're up to it, those images you were thinking of would be great :) Vely►t►e 03:46, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

I've uploaded the first image of a Pit Fan. This NPC is standing in a corner of the Pit that looks quite finished. However, other Pit Fans are standing in front of missing textures (= blue surfaces). I wonder if I should leave them there (and we add a note to the image about the unfinished cell) or if I should push them to / spawn them at prettier spots before I take the screenshot? --Holomay 20:11, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
If you can, a group image would be nice (like a picture of one side of the arena). I don't mind the missing textures. I don't think we need images of each Pit fan, just two or three. Vely►t►e 21:24, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Does the Pit Fan group image look ok? I wanted to include the entrance with the sign above it, part of the arena and the cages in the image. If the NPCs are too small now, I can take a closer shot, but the environment will probably become much less determinable. What about the rest of the images for Skyrim:Pit_Fan? Just adding "image=none"? Or will the page be deleted as soon as you launch your sandbox? --Holomay 18:42, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
The group image looks great :) The pages should be deleted or turned into redirects once the page is launched, so it shouldn't be a worry to fill out those other pages. Vely►t►e 18:45, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

Wow, a shiny gold star! Thank you! I will put it into a master-locked display case. :-) Holomay 19:15, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
On a sidenote, I want to nominate this picture, but I'm not sure where the glow is coming from. The Silencer speaksTalk 19:18, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for considering a nomination! :-) Ok, I hereby declare that all my screenshots are 100% organic. No artificial flavors, preservatives or dyes. :-) Just in-game elements and the usual tweaks for brightness and contrast. The glow in this picture comes from the snowdrifts. It's just a matter of placing the "camera" at the right angle so that the incoming light is absorbed/reflected in a particular way. And then waiting for the right moment and picking one out of a lot of shots. --Holomay 20:35, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
I was actually thinking it may have been the reforging of the dagger making the glow. Thanks for all your images and here's to more being featured. The Silencer speaksTalk 20:52, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, Jak! I am happy to share this cookie with Alphabetface and Velyanthe. Though I feel like I have to add the remaining pictures before I really deserve my cookie piece. :-) In addition to my recent lack of time, some geeky thoughts kept me from taking more screenshots of unused NPCs: Where in the CK can I find Grushnag's caravan? How can I take a screenshot of a Noble riding her horse without actually making a mod? I guess I'll ask Velyanthe to keep an eye on the upcoming images. --Holomay (talk) 19:40, 5 September 2012 (EDT)

You sleep rather soundly...[edit]

... for a murderer. Thanks for providing such high quality Oblivion shots for the sandbox I'm currently working on for A Knife in the Dark. I'll get onto adding them shortly as I am currently accessing the internet through my PS3 (issues with my laptop at this time). Hopefully once my laptop issues are fixed I'll get onto requesting more OB DB quest images as my current goal is to revamp the quest articles hopefully to the standard we have for Skyrim. Perhaps you would like to help gather those images when the need arises? Anyways, keep up the great work Holomay, it does not go unappreciated :) -Helenaannevalentine(talk) 21:44, 10 October 2012 (GMT)

Yes, the sight is a doozy. But after shouting Feim Zii Gron, it becomes a snoozy! ;-) Holomay (talk) 10:17, 22 February 2013 (GMT)
Rofl you bothered with that? You can hug the walls and they can't hit you at all. I just stroll on down the right side like its no big deal. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 10:19, 22 February 2013 (GMT)

I realize that neither of you probably need this reminder, but please remember to use the forums or IRC for this sort of conversation: it's sort of straying into the not-strictly-necessary zone. :) --Vulpa 13:32, 22 February 2013 (GMT)

Hi Vulpa, thanks for the reminder! :) But don't you think that there's some useful information hidden amongst the chit-chat? The swinging blades in this hall look so impressive, yet they are quite ineffective in comparison with most swinging blades that are installed in narrow hallways. Maybe it's worth being noted on The Temple of Miraak and/or Temple of Miraak?! --Holomay (talk) 17:30, 23 February 2013 (GMT)
Guess what-- this page was apparently never put into my watchlist and I *just* saw this. O_O Anyway, I edited the first link to reflect that, but I don't think it really fits well in the second. I think a round of applause is in order for my speedy reaction to your reply. :P --Vulpa 15:41, 14 April 2013 (GMT)
No problem! :) I slightly modified the sentence about the trap. The speed doesn't matter – there's a comfortable gap between the wall and the blades. If you have the guts, you can stand there and have a snack while they're swinging above your head. --Holomay (talk) 22:00, 15 April 2013 (GMT)

Message![edit]

Did you see my message here? Oh and thanks for all the brilliant images! --Krusty (talk) 07:58, 3 March 2013 (GMT)

Hey Krusty, sorry for the long delay!! You've been requesting "a flashy image of Miraak when he shouts." Well, when I tried to take the screenshots, Miraak was as headless as the Spirit of the Ancient Traveler. Today, I loaded the save again and the bug was gone, for whatever reason. Meanwhile, there's an image of Miraak after the shout on the quest page, so I decided to go for this shot. Do you think it's worth adding to his NPC page? --Holomay (talk) 19:22, 12 March 2013 (GMT)
Hey Holomay! Thanks for the image. For the quest page, I’ll just stick with the one I got from Kimi, but the alternative version can definitely be used on Miraak’s own page. I also talked to Silencer who is doing a major Apocrypha page and he can use it as well, because the tower is visible in the background. Thanks again – and cheers! ☺ --Krusty (talk) 20:08, 12 March 2013 (GMT)

Hey Holomay! Just wanted to thank you for the surprise image - just what I needed to get the page launched! --Krusty (talk) 23:51, 25 March 2013 (GMT)

DEFAULTSORT[edit]

Definitely inappropriate in that instance. My bad. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 05:52, 1 April 2013 (GMT)

Thank you, I was not sure about that! Also, I have made the article name a Lore Link. However, there is still the ("includeonly") sentence "For more information, see the main Lore article" which appears at the end of the Places F entry. Maybe you can give me a hint as I can't see a pattern here: Which list entries should end with that sentence and which entries should link to the full article with the article name link only? --Holomay (talk) 18:07, 1 April 2013 (GMT)
The "for more information" snippets seem to be frowned up by some editors, and they seemed to still be in place for some articles which don't need them. The only Lore articles which do need them are those which transclude some but not all of their content sections into a different namespace (as the lore link in that scenario does not link back to the lore page, and readers of the gamespace would want to know that there's more relevant info available on the subject). I've also added them to lore articles I've created in the past if I see that there is a corresponding gamespace article and I think the lore article might replace the gamespace article's introductory text in the future. Hey there Holomay! Just wondering, I remember you helped out in the past with my Oblivion Dark Brotherhood image requests, and was wondering if I could call on your expertise again? As you may have seen, I have a new project up for the newly created articles for the houses, and I am going to need at least heaps of images for the exteriors of all the houses alone. Request[edit]

Hi, Holomay. I have a request to make if you don't mind? I am almost done with my Neloth page, but just need 3 images before I can launch. I'd would very much appreciate it if you could help me out? I have posted them on the requests page but I thought I'd directly ask you if that's okay?

The images are the following:

  • 3:4 front facing shot of both Neloth and Talvas standing next to each other and both looking straight you - during the additional Experimental Subject quest where your eyes are turned into tentacles and the screen fades out. A shot from the waist up please - and if it looks like Talvas is talking, that would be a massive bonus. Caption by Talvas: "Master Neloth! What have you done to him? What are those things growing out of his eyes?""
  • 3:4 shot of Neloth having a conversation with Varona in Tel Mithryn. Similar to this or this or any other pose Neloth does in Tel Mithryn. Caption: "Master Neloth, I'm preparing for a trip to Raven Rock to pick up supplies."
  • 3:4 shot of Neloth having a conversation with Drovas in Tel Mithryn. Similar to this or this or any other pose Neloth does in Tel Mithryn. Caption: "Master Neloth, the silt strider traders just dropped off some supplies."

If you could help out that would be great! --Jimeee (talk) 17:10, 21 May 2013 (GMT)

Hi Jimeee, sure I can help! :) I've started with File:DB-npc-Neloth 19.jpg. It's a different scene because I was unable to recreate the situation you've described... The screen turns black very quickly after Neloth casts his spell, and Talvas doesn't have a chance to realize what is going on. However, we can see Talvas crouching when the sight is restored ("Is it over yet? Does he/she have eyes again?") - I think this represents the situation pretty well?! Maybe you can give me a hint how to "provoke" the constellation that you've described? Right now, the only way I see to get this shot is to "fake" it, and I'm afraid it might confuse readers of the article... --Holomay (talk) 22:07, 21 May 2013 (GMT)
That shot works great, many thanks. Although I must say I have never seen Talvas cowering like that after the spell, but I like it. In my playthroughs as soon as I agree to the spell, Talvas seems to just walk over and stand next to Neloth and do the dialogue part. When the spell wears off he was just standing there as normal. --Jimeee (talk) 10:03, 22 May 2013 (GMT)

Image Requests[edit]

Hi there Holomay! Krusty notified me that you were on holiday, and I pressume you're back to working on the wiki again? If so, I would like to ask a favor of you. I'm requesting quite a few images for the SR:Serana article, as you can see I have been semi-working on revamping it here on and off from time to time. I will give you free reign as to what images you may decide to take, as I don't have any personal preference on the matter. However, I would like to see an image of Serana actually fighting, to inevitably replace File:SR-quest-Beyond Death 02.jpg. Other than that, have fun and I can't wait to see what images you take! -helenaanne  talk ♥ 01:15, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

I have made you a blocker, per your request for the rights. Be sure to read up on the Blocking Policy before using this tool, and also report any blocks done with these extra rights. We usually say something like have fun with the red links or something at the end of these. I guess "good hunting" will do, here? Yeah, that sounds alright. Good hunting. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 11:38, 25 September 2014 (GMT)

Thanks! :) I'll do my best to prevent the RC from being cluttered by bots and other villains. --Holomay (talk) 12:51, 25 September 2014 (GMT)

Thanks ×2[edit]

Thanks for updating Volkihar Undercroft. I was in the game at the time I was writing that and Skyrim tends to crash or develop weird artifacts if I just swap out, so I avoid it. It was on my "to do" list this morning to update that, but you beat me to it. I wasn't sure about adding the "a" to each item. I had them, but then removed them because it sounded too repetitive. So thanks for the second opinion on that too. :) Robin Hood  (talk) 16:57, 8 January 2015 (GMT)

You're welcome. :) Actually, the "a" followed by multiple nouns sounded okay to me, but after replacing "potion" with "potion of plentiful healing", it felt like it didn't work that well anymore, so I added articles to all nouns in the enumeration. --Holomay (talk) 06:56, 10 January 2015 (GMT)

Night time images[edit]

When I saw this image a short while ago and added the cleanup tag. Why did I do it? I did it with good reason because I think this concerns all night time images in question. Do we WANT images at NIGHT where the game mechanics are manipulated so it is dark? Personally, I hate the very concept. In short—our goal to follow when uploading NPC images is that we display them as clearly as possible—just replicating the daylight with a torch doesn't suffice. The quality isn't bad, it's just the lighting that is—it's TOO DARK. Image like these are rather illogical and should modify. Dragon Guard  (talk) 21:30, 16 January 2015 (GMT)

CleanImage tags are for images where there is something actually wrong with the image, i.e. aspect ratio, ui elements, etc. Images that need a new/better version don't need a CleanImage tag. In the case of this image, you say that the image is too dark. Honestly, it really isn't; you can see the Ordinator and his armor just fine. Could the image be better in the daylight? Perhaps, but the image doesn't need to be in the day nor a tag requiring a new version. •WoahBro►talk 21:54, 16 January 2015 (GMT)
Well, if anyone's interested, then by all means, re-upload this in daylight. I suppose we could, because this will make the image reach it's MAXIMUM potential. Dragon Guard  (talk) 22:25, 16 January 2015 (GMT)
There's nothing wrong with night time shots if everything is clearly visible. It's just a stylistic choice, and can often look better. See the Daedric shrine images for an example. —Legoless (talk) 23:58, 16 January 2015 (GMT)
Time of day in the picture can also provide another layer of meaning. With an Ordinator it can be: "Look, he not only keeps you safe during the day when most people are awake and it is not a big deal, he also keeps watch at night - when it is much more dangerous and you are probably asleep". Here is another NPC whose night-time picture makes a good illustration :) - Shuryard (talk) 05:28, 17 January 2015 (GMT)
It may be, certainly the image looks better at night to some people, but maybe we could upload it in daylight then compare them. What say you? Dragon Guard  (talk) 09:18, 17 January 2015 (GMT)
I repeat my summary of the edit in question: "Removing cleanimg. Pic at night is perfectly fine: Ordinators patrol at night, they carry a torch; nighttime imgs are difficult to create, and this is a good one; the armor reflects the torchlight nicely; the image captures the atmosphere.". I agree with what WoahBro, Legoless and Shuryard wrote above. Dragon Guard, the day/night cycle is part of the normal game mechanics. You wrote: "... images at NIGHT where the game mechanics are manipulated so it is dark?" What do you mean by that? --Holomay (talk) 10:24, 17 January 2015 (GMT)
Thank you for the query Holomay. I shall answer it for you as best as I can remember: I was asking if we actually WANT our images to be at night and whether this should be mentioned in the upload guidelines. I personally don't like night images. And Shuryard, Oblivion has completely different graphics compared to Morrowind's, so that might be why things aren't as dark as the Ordinator image. In short—Morrowind lighting in caves, Dwemer ruins et cetera, is much worse (even on highest settings) compared to Oblivion's overhauled lighting, making places SO much easier to go through, clear out and so on. Does this make sense now Holomay? Or is there still something else that you need me to give you some answers about? Dragon Guard  (talk) 12:34, 17 January 2015 (GMT)

Renaming Images[edit]

I've seen you renaming images based on their usage, rather than what they depict (though in your case they both depict the name). I wouldn't do that personally, but you've been swapping the style of the NPC and quest images. I'd say quest images should have a point of view from the player, as you would see it in-game as you play, and NPC images should focus on the NPC in particular ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 13:51, 10 February 2015 (GMT)

You're referring to SR-quest-Totems of Hircine 02.jpg and SR-quest-Tending the Flames 06.jpg? :) You've probably noticed that recently I've been trying to find a fitting spot for the numerous good unused images (and to prod those which are unneeded/redundant). I've renamed these two images from npc to quest because in both cases there are similar images on the npc pages: SR-npc-Aela the Huntress 14.jpg and SR-npc-Viarmo 07.jpg. So you think that, even though they'll only be used on quest pages, the images that I've renamed should have remained "-npc-"-images - based on the distinction between player POV and NPC focus? I see your point, but I believe that in many cases it's very hard to decide where player POV ends and NPC focus begins; that's also why in these two cases I made the usage of the images the determining factor for their (re-)naming. --Holomay (talk) 16:27, 10 February 2015 (GMT)
If you look at those two images, they're taken from behind the NPC, while their quest counterparts are taken right in front of them to focus on them. That's what I mean, and now they're swapped. Of course you could argue that you'd take an image from over the shoulder of the NPC, so as to create "their" point of view in the image, and I had thought about that, but I think it's best the way I've said. Though of course, there are no rules on that specifically as far as I know, and there haven't been any discussions I know of either.
A good example for what I mean would be File:SR-npc-Sinding 02.jpg, this is specifically focused on Sinding, it might look good for the quest page, but the player cannot get that close of course, what with the bars in between. So I wouldn't rename that image to the quest. But you get my point, and you can supposedly argue over POV and NPC focus, but in your case, I feel like you swapped them clearly. Maybe we should start a formal discussion on it, because there has been some confusion on the naming. It may seem a bit trivial, but I do pay attention to those things. Just wanted to point that out in case you'd simply just agree and "change your ways" :P. What really is a big NO in my book is naming images specifically for NPC articles, and they don't even have the NPC in question in it, so as long as you don't do that, there's not really a problem ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 17:49, 10 February 2015 (GMT)
You're right, it's quite confusing to look at pictures like SR-npc-Carlotta Valentia 02.jpg or SR-npc-Arniel Gane 04.jpg, and they should probably be renamed to match their subject. That these images are used for other NPCs' articles, however, makes perfect sense - do you agree? And just to make sure I understand you correctly: You're saying that an image like SR-npc-Sinding 02.jpg should be named "-npc-" (or in this case rather: is already correctly named "-npc-") because of its style/focus, regardless of whether it's used on an NPC page or a quest page or both - and in this case, the image illustrates both articles very well. So you're not saying that NPC pages should only contain images with a certain style, and quest pages should only contain images with a different style? --Holomay (talk) 22:53, 11 February 2015 (GMT)
That pictures like that are named after the article they're used on, is bad. That pictures of NPCs are used on another NPC's page, is alright. On your second question, I do think that separating styles, rather than just mixing them up, would be preferrable. I think that, an NPC page focuses on the NPC (duh), and a quest page focuses on you going through the quest (a walkthrough), however, that may be debatable. Have I followed this pattern for quest pages all the time? No, because focus images are good-looking. But I think that player POV images are not preferrable on NPC pages. Though as I'm answering your question, I'm still thinking about it, circumstances vary, sometimes other styles do work best, I can't really say for sure. Perhaps naming, and using images, all comes down to preference, and there are no set rules in my mind. They may only really be case by case situations, I can't tell. Perhaps we really do need some formal discussion, at least on naming images after articles as opposed to their subject (like the two examples you gave) ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 02:10, 12 February 2015 (GMT)
A formal discussion on subject vs. article usage naming is probably a good idea. Regarding a guideline for separate image styles on quest and NPC pages ... You're expressing exactly the doubts that I have about this. Circumstances vary so much that the photographic style needs to be considered individually for each screenshot. On Help:Images it says that story images "should show the NPC during key quest moments or performing other actions" and quest images "should show something unique from the quest". Adding parameters like focus, perspective or angle to these guidelines could easily lead to a restriction of the creative freedom of those who take screenshots. An image should illustrate the article well; ideally, it should be informative and interesting. I find it very enjoyable to discover screenshots that depict scenes in a way I haven't experienced them before, and the more out-of-the-box vs. standardized images there are on the wiki, the better. To include the term "player POV" in any image guideline could turn out ot be very tricky. The player POV can be quite boring, and taken literally, the concept wouldn't allow any angle lower than sneak mode or jump/fall height (which, alas, we are restricted to with ESO). In many cases, leaving the player POV via console adds to the informative and emotional value of an image. I guess your wonderful Go Fish quest image is an example for this - I assume that you have TAI'd the fish during the jump and then turned the camera around it a bit to show more of it than the normal player POV would have allowed? --Holomay (talk) 09:28, 13 February 2015 (GMT)

Book locations[edit]

I just wanted to double check that the books are actual, static books and not from bookshelves. I can't check right now, but I don't remember seeing so many books laying around at Weynon Priory. I could be missremembering though... Jeancey (talk) 14:40, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

All the locations I'm adding are static. :) BTW, maybe you want to have a look at this - I believe it would be interesting to get a better understandig of how lorebooks are distributed, and how static/random their locations are. --Holomay (talk) 15:11, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Savant Christmas Poster[edit]

As a guild officer, you're entitled to one of Dave's Christmas posters. Just email me or him with a postal address if you'd like to receive one. —Legoless (talk) 21:59, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Splendid! Thank you very much! :) Holomay (talk) 22:43, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Edit Summaries[edit]

Apologies. Bad habit I picked up from admin duties, and doing very large edits at a time. You're right though - I should be adding edit summaries. Timeoin (talk) 06:03, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

No problem, thanks! :) Holomay (talk) 07:53, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Low Quality and Blurry[edit]

Hello Holomay, Though neither I nor my peers agree with you re your comments about the image http://en.uesp.net/wiki/File:ON-quest-Vanus_Unleashed.jpg, especially when compared with screen captures in general, and feel you may well have mistaken dark / sombre / caliginous for low quality / blurry. I also assume that you do realise that this was not intended to be a close up but a wide angle view of the boiler to provide a bit more atmosphere and context. That said if there is some way of taking a vote on this by a statistically significant number of the UESP community I will abide by the result and the image can be removed. Otherwise, thank-you for your critique I will keep it in mind for future efforts. GameFace42 (talk) 22:08, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Assassin's Will[edit]

Err... thanks for that! I had a moment when reading the descriptions. Thanks for mixing my mistake for me! Timeoin (talk) 19:59, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

I came across the link while I was trying to reduce the vast number of redlinks all across the wiki. I've noticed that you've made it a redirect, which is probably the better idea (I guess a lot of redirects for skill/proc/buff terms still need to be created). There's still a lot of red on Online:Patch/3.0.5, so let me know if you plan to fix more links on the page so we don't have edit conflicts. BTW which html to wiki markup converter do you prefer for creating the patch pages? --Holomay (talk) 09:22, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
I made links to ones I think *should* be pages (or redirects) but I'm still fairly new here. A lot of ones are already pages, or they are on relevant lists pages. (E.g. style materials). I dont want to duplicate existing pages though. Timeoin (talk) 09:16, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

Thieves Trove[edit]

Just wondering - is that sort of thing useful to list? Timeoin (talk) 23:01, 18 September 2017 (UTC)

The list of locations? All of them are fixed, not random, right? - So I think it's useful to add them. There are icons for Thieves Troves on the interactive map, so there should also be map links like on Online:The Rift#Skyshards, for example. The Zones are ususally listed in a different way, see Online:Tailors, Online:Wayshrines etc.
Also, instead of writing anything about incompleteness in the page text, it's better to use Template:Incomplete. --Holomay (talk) 11:08, 20 September 2017 (UTC)

Ghosts[edit]

Sorry. Was trying to help. I'll leave the page alone, I guess. Might I suggest a page for Spirits? (That way, the "ghosts" can be listed, and the ghosts, in their numerous variations/unique bosses can also be listed? Timeoin (talk) 03:38, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

I don't know if we necessarily need a list of all spectral NPCs, especially since it's not always apparent whether they're intended to be ghosts or not. —Legoless (talk) 12:48, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Well, I ask because all the ghosts (from bosses to variants) were listed, and it got reverted. Again, asking for clarification only. (And i realise I included random ghost/spirit/apparitions erroneously. That can be rectified to only the pure enemy/reactable ghosts, like every other eso creature-type. Timeoin (talk) 14:21, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Non-NPC ghosts (that is, ghosts that look like this) should all be listed there. Not sure if we wanna have separate lists for unique vs variants, but for clarity's sake we shouldn't add ghostly NPCs to that page since they aren't "Ghost"-type enemies. —Legoless (talk) 14:37, 1 October 2017 (UTC)
Agreed. Like I said, just clearing up why exactly it was removed. So basically the variants can be put straight back on ... as they are all just like that ^^. The others - would need to be gone through. (as I messed up and had some non-ghosties listed in my ghosties :P) Timeoin (talk) 18:54, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Cheers ears[edit]

Just wanted to thank you for removing that guy's nonsense on my talk page. Not sure what his problem is, guess he made me a target for reverting his unproductive edits. --Rezalon (talk) 21:25, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

You're welcome. :) I hope the warning will keep the user from doing it again. --Holomay (talk) 08:34, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

You aware you welcomed on the user page?[edit]

It seems you by mistake posted a welcome on the Ding Junda's user page, not Ding Junda's talk page. —MortenOSlash (talk) 22:06, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

Ooops XD Thank you, it's fixed now! --Holomay (talk) 23:02, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
